  1. Go to leantd.com for the link to the track days. Hopefully, next year will bring some additional improvements like track curbing, new bathrooms and a remodel of the scoring building and tech sheds. The ownership there is doing it right. There is a 10 year fix it up plan. Several years of neglect doesn't get fixed over night. I like what I see and hear from the new owner. Keeping the things that were unique to the track is part of that vision.
  2. Dereck, find out his insurance company and pm me. I would like to shop around.
  3. I don't think the health insurance would be an issue, but with the way the industry is going, I would not be surprised in the future if they excluded extreme sports.
  4. It's sure not worth it, although I have heard others say it under their breath. I would not risk it myself and my bike is not new enough or worth a whole lot by any stretch. The insurance company said if it was a class held in a parking lot, they would cover it. That would be a tip over, basically.
  5. Falling off the trailer is a good idea as long as they don't want a police report.
  6. I did and this time they told me if it was held on a race track, I would not be covered. Time to shop around again for insurance.
  7. After watching 2 street bikes get wadded up this past weekend doing a track day, I would bet most people putting their nice street bike on the track don't know they are not covered for damages to their bike if you lose it. I was under the mis-information that I was covered by my own insurance company as of last year, but after calling the insurance company and pressing them more, they told me this time it's not covered when on a closed track circuit. This takes all the fun out of doing the occasional track day with the street bike. I would like to know what others do when going to the occasional track day. I know there are companies out there that will insure a bike/rider for track days at various levels but I have not priced it out. I saw some pretty new bikes out there on the track that were still street bikes. I would hate to throw it down and have a hard time "eating" the cost to repair it especially if I still owed payments. What about medical insurance too? I could see some insurance companies excluding extreme sports like motorcycle track days and sky diving, etc. from their coverage. I think I will start by looking for a "track bike" that isn't so nice and use it instead? Maybe the cost of fixing it isn't worth the premiums? Any other ideas? Insurance companies suck!
  8. Thanks @jacobhawkins and wife, Katie for hosting us and feeding us afterwards. Much appreciated. Made it home okay late last night and a great day overall. I wasn't prepared to spend the night but better planning next time on my part.
  9. Thanks @jacobhawkins for hosting and feeding us afterwards. Want to definitely go to an OMRL event next year with you. Had a great time at the show seeing @DerekClouser and the Toledo crew and being hooligans on scooters through the streets of Columbus. Was neat getting to talk to Josh Hayes and the Yamaha Team while the lines were not so busy. Got to meet some moto-vloggers too. Overall, a great day.
  10. Yeah, no battle. Good for you. There must be a bunch of these right now for them and they are quick to settle.
  11. Cool. A little "Throttle Lock" bling on it? Glad they ran this sale again in the fall.
  12. I bought one in the spring and used it for a track day at Nelson last month. Seems like good quality. I would buy it again if that is helpful.
  13. Dick's Sporting Goods is running a pretty good sale on the instant up canopy again. They did this in the spring as well. 60% off is not bad if you have a need for one for a track day or whatever. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/quest-q64-10-ft-x-10-ft-slant-leg-instant-up-canopy-15queuq6410x10nstodrxxx?camp=EML:DSG_PRM:09012017_09012017_LaborDay_Deals_DSG:Body_10x10Canopy&customerkey=217509770-7&mcid=214631733&hdpid=1abeeb85-c051-4049-a634-b656b33a4c4a They even have a 12'x12' for $60. A 53% savings. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/quest-12-x-12-instant-up-canopy-16queuq10012x12nsodr/16queuq10012x12nsodr?camp=EML:DSG_PRM:09012017_09012017_LaborDay_Deals_DSG:Body_12x12Canopy&customerkey=217509770-7&mcid=214631733&hdpid=1abeeb85-c051-4049-a634-b656b33a4c4a
  14. Several of the Nelson group went and did this before the Sunday races. It was a blast. My first time on them. The cars are real grippy and move right along after they get up to speed and you have to use the brakes into the corners or you'll wipe out. Best part was the computer scoring you get at the end. All the cars have transponders on them so you know how well you did. On the print out, they have the "best of the week" printed next to your name and group. Of course, several of the racers names were on it. If you get the chance to do it, take advantage.
  15. Good pics @DerekClouser. I was there both days and hooked up with the crowd from Nelson on Sunday and missed you guys. What an awesome weekend of racing. Seeing Roger win on Sunday was awesome and well deserved. Looked like he could barely keep it together on the podium but feeling pretty good for him. Perfect ending.
  16. I will be there Saturday and Sunday although I probably won't be camping. I know a few of you so I will look for you there.
  17. Glad you are okay and a good save at the end of that. Glad you had a good time overall despite the mishap.
  18. Great idea. That's a lot of track days. Nice meeting you yesterday and thanks for helping me yesterday on the setup. That was a great day. See you at another track day.
  19. Enjoy guys! Went to Nelson again today and had a great time! Pit next to ludwb675 and met some new faces today too. Drink lots of Gatorade and water as it's supposed to a hot one tomorrow.
  20. Jerry, met you with Niven once over at State 8 last year for the demo days but didn't have a lot of time to stay and chat...stay strong and positive and listen to your Doctor's advice. Prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery.
  21. Doing a recent track day, the instructor told us to throttle on through it but everything you instinctively want to do will be the opposite of that.
  22. Not a big deal, but is motorcycle parking free? I see where they are selling automobile parking for $10. Nothing about motorcycle parking. Most of the races it has been a free thing for the fans on bikes.
  23. Welcome. As everyone here will say, go get your endorsement and do a track day or two. Have fun and ride safe!
