  1. Ok so a little over a month ago I purchased a 1935 Mosin Nagant 91/30 Tula hex receiver with a sealed spam can of milsurp Russian ammo manufactured in 71, and 75 rounds of Silver Bear. Cost me a total of $200. Ive since went through several websites including 7.62x54r.net and managed to narrow it down. It was selected for above average accuracy that is due to the C and crylic R on the receiver. So at some point it was selected for sniper service, however I think given that the Russians needed weapons for the field this one was never placed into sniper service and it was put into the field anyways. The other reason why is given the age of the rifle it would have had a scout type center mounted scope where they would have bored out 3 screw holes on each side of the receiver and mounted the scope there. These bore holes are not present. The biggest down side to it is that its had the barrel counter bored post war. Its in rather great shape other then that. No cracks in the stock. No rust or pitting in the barrel. Clean rifling through out the barrel. I've since gone through it and cleaned all the cosmoline out of the bore and as much as I could get out of the stock itself. I'm considering keeping it as is, but im also flirting with the idea of just turning it into a modern sporter. I know with some work, good stock, scope, glass bedding, floating the barrel, turned down bolt/bolt handle mod, removal of front and rear sights, cutting the barrel down from 28 3/4 to around 24inches, recrowning the barrel, then rebluing the barrel. It can be turned into a sub 1 MOA rifle. However the cost, the gun itself is 125-150, all the additional work will take an easy month assuming everything comes in on time. Some people tell me to just leave it the way it is (purists), others tell me to do what I want since there are so many readily available. Was curious what others thought. Below are pictures of my Mosin. http://s229.photobucket.com/user/aka_guardian/story/12083
  2. This guy has way too much time on his hands
  3. yeah i beat you to this post the day it was originally reported sorry
  4. Frankenstein needs her cranial matter exposed to the outside air...im not suggesting...anything...just speaking hypothetically...really.
  5. I wouldnt even consider going from a Glock to a Smith and Wesson. My gunsmith here has told me that hes had more service issues over the past 5 years with S&W then hes had with Taurus. If you can get the Glock 19, go for it if your looking for a 9mm. There are several facebook groups here in Ohio who are constantly dealing in firearms trades, and Glocks are being sought after.
  6. When I exited the military they had a tiered system based on rank. I paid for the move ahead of time, then they reimbursed me after the fact. In the end I paid over 1500 the Navy gave me back 1300 and some change. Civilian employers have better deals. When my father moved from Ohio out to Oklahoma in the 90s they gave us 5grand ahead of time and had us an apartment ahead of time ready when we got there. When the plant closed 2 years later they gave us a similar deal to move back to Ohio except without the place to live right away.
  7. Discounted airfare, plus loaners + leathers, + a place to sleep, ill throw down a couple a hundred
  8. your just not getting Jelly Bean? hell my Galaxy S 3 has had it for well over 2 months.
  9. I showed my wife the picture of the kid and asked her what was wrong with the picture, she points out two things. "The siding doesnt look right with the brick, and the kids camo doesnt match. Other then that, WTF is the problem?" damn i love my wife
  10. I didnt see this posted yet, didnt really look to well. If it is, I apologize. I think this boils down to a simple case of a violation of the 4th amendment. http://deloc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8175
  11. Im sorry I never made it down. Its been a rough past 48 hours and I was seriously distracted.
  12. great article. I ride my Ninja 650 all the time on mediocre rides. Ive not come across the cash flow or a companion to go on long rides (more then 500 miles). But I can see where it is totally possible to do so. My 650 gets great mileage, and isnt to bad since I threw a Gel Pad on it. Ive been told the Versys is even more comfortable.
  13. Snot always rides with the guys, she rides like one too
  14. Last I heard Area Electric/Regal Plumbing in Sidney is hiring Metal Fabricators. My cousin left his job of 10 years at Slagal Mechanical to go over to Regal Plumbing because they made him a great offer.
  15. One reason why i bought the extended warranty for my 650.
  16. You should come out to the epic ride with us on May 4. Get to meet some really good people, other then Brown57. Hes odd.
  17. Put me down for making an appearance. Put me in one of the intermediate groups.
  18. I might make this. I have to work till 5 at least but I think I can get the boss to let me keep the van out till this time. I wont be drinking however.
  19. I will probably get a couple of PG grip extenstions to hold me over on the mags. The only drawback that I can see on the gun is that the stock mags only hold 5 rounds. but thats remedied with a 7 rounder with sleeve
  20. Yes it is, I smoke in my house, yes I know disgusting. Yes I know, I should quit. When Im shooting, or riding, i seldom smoke. That is clean compared to how it was just the day before I hope so. Ive got bigger hands so I will definitely have to have some extended mags
  21. I already had an XD9 prior to this and loved it. I bought this on a whim, and seeing how my XD9 is at the gunsmith for the foreseeable future i needed a sidearm for CCW
  22. Its a slim compact .45. overall is only an inch thick .9 inches at the slide. 6.3 inches long, and 4.4 inches tall.
  23. I stopped in at my local gun shop this morning to see if they couldn't get me on a wait list for a new XDs .45. I did not have intentions of purchasing at that time. However before I even got it out of my mouth that I was willing to wait they told me they had one that came in that morning that wasn't spoken for. So I snatched it up as well as 100 rounds of .45acp pmc bronze and a 20 round box of Speer Gold Dolt JHP. Out the door was about average from what im told at 584. I know some other places have them cheaper, but it doesn't bother me to support my local gun store.

    Guns or Women?

You could probably trade an old .44 for 2-3 new .22's
  25. Taxact.com or Turbotax.com. even then Turbo tax is a ripoff. I used H&R Block for the first 6 years of my marriage. I realized they were ripping me off after year 6. So i started doing mine on my own with Turbotax. They still charge more then I wanted. So this year I used Taxact, and I have to say it was the best thing, cheap, and easy. Im married with 2 kids. I claim both, since she makes slightly less then I do, renter, so no need for homeowner filing.
