  1. It sounds as if putting it in park (auto) isn't enough to hold the engine---

I don't have a chain wrench and my craftsman strap wrenches (rubber/plastic) are about as good as holding it by hand. My dad has air tools but his compressor leaves a little to be desired..

What chain wrench do you recommend? I had to fab up a tool out of angle iron to hold the damn waterpump pulley on a 2000 blazer to unthread the fan clutch monster nut.

How do you hold the engine up if you take loose the motor mount?

    Thanks for the tips!

Snap-On, MAC, etc. etc. etc. make a special tool to hold the pulley on most Honda/Acura vehicles. If you look at it and it looks like a socket then I have a tool that may be of some help. My dad had an Odyssey with 100k on it and even with this tool and a impact it wouldnt come off. We ended up towing it on a dolley to the shop half torn apart to heat the bolt and get it out. I would highly recommend a plan for worst case scenario to have the ability to access a good impact/air supply and if needed an oxy/acetelyne torch. If you need to borrow the tool let me know I am sure we can work out a place to meet or I can stop by and drop it off for awhile.

  2. My Saturn stops in 114 ft from 60mph with much worse tires and more weight. The Hot Rod Solstice stopped from 60 in 98 ft. There are plenty of modified Corvettes stopping in less than 100 ft (better tires, pads, wheels, and braided lines). Honestly, I'm not impressed with 103 ft from a 2800 lb car, with brakes optimized for stopping (no compromises for noise, fade, rotor life, cost, etc), very high end tires, lightweight wheels, and at a cost of half a million.

Again, I'm impressed with the amount of work that went into the design of the body, but the rest of it just seems...incomplete to me.

The Veyron requires 31.4m to stop (103 ft) and that uses a rear wing turned 90 degrees vertical to aid it. I would say the same stopping distance without the wing in a similar car is PRETTY GOOD. I didn't say OH MY GOD IT STOPS IN 103 FEET!!!!!

HOT ROD Solstice Corvette Z06 Carrera GT Enzo Murcielago

    Braking, 60-0:

    95 110 101 106 110

Price and performance wise it falls right in between the Carrera GT and the Enzo. According to Edmunds a stock Sky takes 134 ft.

  3. That's because they said they could not find a closed test facility with a long enough straight to hit thier top speed. Which was kind of surprising to me because they should have been able to go to TRC if they had the cash to rent it.

TRC is on the wrong side of the country (not a problem with enough money) and only one time in the history of TRC have we allowed any type of high speed exhibition. It requires the rental of the entire high speed ring and special safety crews. That would mean being willing to pay more then Honda, the federal government, trucking companies, and anyone else that happens to be using that area COMBINED. Anything over 99mph is strictly prohibited without a full out exclusive purchase.

  4. They told me the same thing but I did some reasearch and found out my package was in Columbus off Roberts Rd. and could be picked up after a certain time (presumably when the trucks have returned for the day). I went down there and had my package the same day as the first attempted delivery.
  5. That isn't a good thing, considering the Aero is 1/5th the car that the Veyron is. ;)

I can show you Honda Civics worth less than $2000 that have all of that crap.

Teh story ont he car is simple: Shelby got on Youtube and saw a bunch of $60,000 supras doing 200mph on the highways and said "I can do that". In the end, they made a parts-bin car with a ripped off aerodynamic profile.

First you complain that it doesn't have that stuff and that the Veyron does then you say even worthless cars have that. Then you change your story to that is just a parts bin car and a ripoff profile. Two years in NASA Langley wind tunnel doesn't sound like a ripoff to me. Not to mention almost every supercar could be called a "ripoff" of a profile...it's called a wedge. Not to mention I cannot find anywhere that Bugatti took the time ti actually qualify for the world record under strict conditions unlike the Aero which has. It was even done on public roads not some perfect surface test track like all the Bugatti top speed runs.

  6. I can admire the amount of aero work taht seems to have gone into the design, and it was a good exercise of what you can do with current off the shelf parts. But at the same time, from what I have seen, it is a glorified kit car that has gone through no certification process like an OEM does. There's no telling how it will hold up in an accident, or even if the safety equipment has been properly tested.

The fact that he said they tried various TCS and ABS systems, but 'thought they took away from teh driving experience' means that they were trying to make cheap aftermarket stuff work, but had no idea what they were doing. You will stop better with a properly tuned ABS system, it will be more stable, and all your customers will be able to execute the same performance. Traction control would be a nice thing to have with over 1000 HP and only two driven wheels. Using launch control would also allow all of their customers use the full potential of the vehicle. Also, with a car this fast it would be nice to have stability control. A properly tuned system will get them around a racetrack a lot faster, and again, it's much safer when you have that much HP.

I think the professionalism of the company was displayed when they showed a clip from their top speed run and the driver looked to be wearing a T-shirt and no helmet.

The Veyron has gone through 1000x more testing, simulation, engineering, and certification than this thing has, and it shows.

    http://www.shelbysupercars.com/press.php

Goes into detail about all the testing they have to meet including ALL DOT AND EPA compliance testing. Personally I would like ABS, Traction control, and Stability control but a 60-0 stopping distance of 103ft. is still pretty good.

  7. I'd like to see it dyno that-or anything north of 1k.

Its funny how the guy that sells them even admits that the Veyron s a better driving, and more comfortable car.

I dont care if you thing the Veyon's ugly-it has Air bags, AC, a system, a fucking "trunk", and you can turn a key- and go 250mph at will, is just insane. I like the Aero, but its still a tin can with a seat and a TT Pushrod motor.

They may as well have built a Colt and save themselves a for million in R&D :)

    Audio/Video:

    Navigation System, 10-Speaker Premium Audio/CD/DVD System, 7.5" Video/DVD Screen, Automatic Back-Up Camera

    Standard EquipmentIncludes:

Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Mirrors, Tilt-Steering, Cab-Controlled Front Air Lift

Straight from Shelby's website. A/C, power everything, 10 speaker audio/video system and a back up camera makes for one hell of a tin can.

  8. parts of it are good, other parts are just typical, Anti-Democratic nonsense

It has nothing to do with Democrate/Republican/Libiterian/Green parties. It never once bashes Obama other then saying that NO ONE is representing the "Angry White Man". It even says that Republicans don't even like their parties candidate.

  9. I forget the guys s/n on here but, he has a flat black 240 with gold lettering (it's pictured in his sig). He knows and lives right by my friend John Hartman and he has those parts. I would call him but I lost his number. He had a turbo motor ready to go in his and then he totaled it. I sure he would sell those parts or the turbo motor setup if you wanted to do the swap and get more money out of your car.
  10. Wanna know something funny about that new law? I heard on the BLITZ that this pornstar was headlining at Columbus Gold. She said she had to wear little skin colored stickers over her nipples to prevent the "topless" part of the dance. YET, according to Columbus law a female could stand outside the club completely topless? Makes sense to me...NOT!
  11. I agree that it sounds like an impeller issue. Another way to check the head gasket would be to use a combustion gas detector. I know most home mechanics don't have one but, you might be able to find one to borrow on here. I have one out in Marysville if you are that way. All you do is let it warm up and open the thermostat then use the tester to check for combustion gas in the cooling system. Have you checked the cap? You said the system holds 13 psi but, does the cap. My father's truck keeps burping coolant into the resevoir and eventually emptying itself and it is just the cap. I finally went and bought one so hed quit buying more coolant.
  12. Change the fuel filter when you do the tune up. It's $5-$15 and it is supposed to be done usually around 30k depending on manufacturer recomendations. Have you modified or changed anything? (Tire/Wheel size maybe?) It also wouldn't hurt to run something like SeaFoam or Techron cleaner through it.
  13. My grandfather got shot in his eye with a BB gun when he was six. I never knew it until he had the Lasik surgery. Somehow he had almost no vision in that eye but, it wasn't visably damaged. He had the surgery 3 yrs. ago (he is in his 70's). His biggest problem was learning his depth perception and such again after being used to only seeing out of one eye. He is very happy with it.
