If you're happy at 45-50 mph... The grom is perfect. I sold mine for 2 reasons: 1. Was to pay cash for another bike rather than financing. 2. A little disappointed it wouldn't hold 55mph comfortably (motor was screaming and struggling), most roads around my house are 55mph speed limit. I miss my grom everyday. I'm sure I'll have another at some point.

I got 100mpg on the money on mine pretty consistently. There's no such thing as highway riding on one... So that was stop and go, and wheelies in my driveway.
  3. We really don't like to put an employee out like that, but we can't allow this sort of mistake to continue on. There is no excuse for this sort of behavior. I'm very thankful that we're being offered the opportunity to right our wrong, and we will.
  4. I'm very sorry for the misfortune, and we will absolutely make it right, 100% at no charge. There is no excuse for this, this should not have left the shop in the manor, and I'm embarrassed that I even have to be apologizing for this sort of situation. I will let Erich, the boss, know about this situation and make sure that it is corrected. This is the exact sort of situation that can hurt and/or destroy our reputation, and we would really love the opportunity to make things right. Thank you for telling us about it, we will make this better.
  5. Whenever I ride with the other apex guys and their supermoto's that only have a 60 mile range... I'll throw a Mountain Dew bottle or Gatorade bottle full of gas in a book bag for 'just in case'. It's super safe...

I would love to come hit some trails near c-bus. And I finally have a bike I can get a sticker for! Woot!

Yes, completely stock. I weigh 175lbs, and I topped it around 58mph on flat ground, and 62mph down hill. It took a long time to get to these speeds as well. It'll get to 45 mph reasonably quick (considering), but once you hit that wall, make sure you have time. I know people can get over 60mph out of them, but the engine is turning so many rpm I wouldn't want to sustain that while cruising down the road. Don't get me wrong, there's a special place in my heart for the little bike, I want another one, just don't need another one.

My thoughts on the grom: They're a novelty, tons of fun... But really kinda pointless as a motorcycle. The seat sucks horribly The bike is not happy at speeds above 50mph. The chassis is fine, but the engine is not. To hold 55mph, you have to wring it's neck. On the plus side, you can get away with murder on one. No one thinks you're up to no good (like excessive speeding and general hooligan riding) when you're on a bike that looks like it was built for a 10 year old. They just laugh and wave. Other than that... They're a blast and I miss mine a bunch! I sold it so I could pay cash for a different bike rather than financing.

I owned one for a little while...
  10. this bike is the first bike i've owned that makes the highway enjoyable. you can still hustle it through corners too. price is OBO!
  11. big bikes are fun! they disappear from underneath you once above walking speed. when slowing to a stop. stay looking forward until you have the bike at a stop and your feet planted. when slow speed maneuvering: drag rear brake slightly and use some clutch work to keep the bike slightly accelerating, this makes it feel a bit more stable.
  12. I work full time as an automotive mechanic at a Hyundai dealer. The sonata/optima is a great car. The transmissions have been bulletproof and the engines are good. I would suggest buying new, or at least certified pre-owned, so you get the benefit of the warranty. In the real world these cars see low to mid 30's as far as fuel economy. They don't have a timing belt, and don't really require transmissions services (the fluid is rate lifetime and I really haven't seen many issues besides trans fluid temp sensors which are cheap).
  13. I'm in the industry, and the job posting listed here is pretty standard for the positions. It's easy to find mechanics and parts people, it's hard to find good ones. Just the way it goes. Good luck in the hunt for qualified applicants OP.
  14. 04 expedition, 204,000 miles. 5.4 liter 4x4. In great shape for miles. $3500 OR price
  15. Really appreciate the kind words. We're a small shop that's trying hard to earn business, so a write up like this really means a lot to us. Thank you for giving us a chance to earn your business.
  16. The bikes a tad over 800lbs when empty, but it disappears from underneath you once above 4-5mph. It's still a BMW as well, which means you can still roll it through some corners. I would really prefer not to sell, but I have plenty of bikes and not enough money for my wedding.
  17. forgot... clean/clear title, in my name.
  18. selling my personal tourer. great bike, all stock. missing front fender (snapped off in cold, i dont know how) 80,000 glorious miles, she's still a pup. bike is loaded electronic cruise control electronic ABS AM/FM/Cassette/6 disc CD changer power windshield heated grips heated seats (both) reverse center stand all features, functions, reliability, and rideability of a goldwing, without the inflated price tag. tires are around 30% mechanically sound. clutch was done at 60k by cadre cycles. cadre cycles has serviced the bike since new (since they were an actual bmw dealer) $3000 firm has minor scratches on paint most of which are on the rear top case from my trailer's gate, but bike has never been dropped. only picture i could find on my computer. this was a couple months ago.
  19. Wedding is getting expensive, need to free up some cash. this is a russian made saiga AK74 replica has tapco pistol grip and adjustable stock green furniture, 1 black mag and 3 brown mags. this is 5.45x39, which is weird, thats why i'm letting it go with the 2180 (if i remember right) rnds of surplus in 2 spam cans (one can is opened, but complete, comes with the can opener) i'll get pics up. $1000 OBO located in cincinnati, must be an Ohio resident 21 or older and be legal to posses firearms
  20. theres just something about an internal combustion engine that is beautiful. i think the electric bikes are a novelty right now. one day the battery technology will allow the range we all want, and maybe even more. look at the Radio Controlled industry. give it a few more years, and i'm sure they'll come up with something interesting. i still dont think it could be my only bike. what happens when i use the entire "range" even if the range is extended to even something like 300 miles? can i refuel in a couple of minutes? is there a convenient refueling station nearby? what if i'm in hillbilly town north carolina? still neat to see the technology evolving.
