  1. FYI: Sena will be at the AIM show pushing their new 30K model and "Mesh" networking feature. Might not be a bad idea to swing by their booth and (respectfully) tell them about what we've been experiencing. Believe me, what the trade show reps get as feedback this weekend will definitely get back to Corporate.
  2. Wojo and I should be at the show by 9:30 Saturday morning. I plan to stalk the dirty bikes, enduros, dual sports and ADV lineups first, then crawl whatever else my legs and feet can handle.
  3. I regularly ride with 4 others with Sena 20S units and we're all frustrated. One rider has been through hell and back trying to get his hardware and software issues worked out and Sena has been of little help. Mine have been reasonably stable but the range isn't great and each software version seems to be random on whether it helps or hurts. We regularly hear "beat boxing" when someone gets on the edge of range, barely 200 feet away, and that includes anyone in the chain. Speaking of chains, two riders works OK. Three is usually straightforward, but 4 and 5 riders can be a hot mess, even when we're careful to pair up in the order we ride in. I heard today that Sena issued a cease and desist letter to a Facebook group admin who's been collecting experiences, trying to apply pressure to Sena about their bad QC. Talk about digging a hole for themselves. The way I look at it, they have a window. Fix what they’ve got as best as they can, provide upgrade discounts and make an ultra-reliable next gen product to sweep this all behind them. And do it before someone else eats their lunch...
  4. Here's my variant; again massive thanks to Tonik, especially since he hates it. :-P Hello, I see that House Bill 280 has been referred to the Transportation and Public Safety Committee on which you serve. HB 280 addresses a flaw with ORC 4511.84 that needs to be corrected - it prohibits the use of earphones and earplugs while riding a motorcycle. While prohibiting earphones may make sense, the prohibition on earplugs does not. This law is antiquated and does not account for the medical community’s better understanding of hearing loss and it’s causes, and in fact Ohio is one of only five states that still have a law like this in effect. The Ohio BMV handbook for new motorcycle riders outlines noise risk: “Long-term exposure to engine and wind noise can cause permanent hearing damage, even if you have a quiet motorcycle and wear a full-face helmet. Whether you choose disposable foam plugs or reusable custom-molded devices, properly worn hearing protection reduces noise, while allowing you to hear important sounds like car horns and sirens.” I have a quiet motorcycle and I always wear a full-face helmet. When I don’t wear ear plugs, I can clearly tell my hearing has been impacted after a day of riding. They ring and buzz, just like being at a loud concert. Yes, I ignore the law and wear ear plugs as do a great many other riders I know - one of whom just received a $95-dollar ticket for doing so. I can assure you that we can hear sirens, horns and the traffic around us when we wear ear plugs. Ear plugs are selective in what noise they block – high-frequency wind “hiss.” Simply put, the State has a law forcing a motorcycle rider to expose themselves to noise levels far in excess of what OSHA allows in the work place. It is forcing us to suffer permanent hearing loss, has no ethical right to do so, so HB 280 needs to be passed to correct this issue. Please let me know what I can do to help make this happen, and thank you in advance for your help in this matter. I, and motorcyclists like me, love riding as well as reducing the risks of doing so. To us, earplugs are just another essential safety item like helmets, gloves, boots and padded, abrasion-resistant pants and jackets, and we’d love to do so without being subject to fines. Finally, thank you for your service to our State - it is genuinely appreciated! With sincere gratitude, Scott McCrory {contact details}
  5. Done. FWIW I customized your EXCELLENT letter a bit and delivered it to all 15 members of the committee. I made sure to put their name in the header for a little more personalization. Definitely keep us informed if/when this goes to hearing and I'll make every effort to be there in person.
  6. I see it was introduced in June but no updates since. Anyone know when the hearing date is? https://www.legislature.ohio.gov/legislation/legislation-status?id=GA132-HB-280
  7. Want (and loving my '13 350RR). Think you might also get one of the 125 2Ts in next spring? She's supposed to be in the neighborhood of 208 dry, 225-ish wet. The Beta components are outstanding, have street-legal titles from the factory and perform better than I can ride.
  8. Kahr CM9, PJ Holster black reinforced right handed 15% cant kydex IWB holster and extra mags. Pistol runs 100% reliable and has about 300 rounds through it. One of the 6rd mags has a broken follower tab, so consider it a parts mag. There's a rub mark on the back frame near the slide (pictured) but gun is otherwise flawless. Very accurate in spite of being one of, if not the lightest 9mm CC pistols available. 6+1 or 7+1 capacity matches the Glock 43 and Shield with less bulk. This isn't my only and will not be my last Kahr - they're solid, accurate, have smooth triggers, made in America and feel right in the hand. I'm selling after picking up a couple before the election. $275 to a CC licensee in the Columbus area.
  9. Life plus 40. Holy crap that's quite a sentence. Not sure I want to know the evidence now.
  10. Swingset, flyfishjeff and I are still planning to go Friday with little bikes. I'll upload some pictures and maybe video of the conditions. Won't be anything dramatic - just practice seat time to keep building familiarity with bikes that are new to us.
  11. Home back in Westerville/Columbus. Great time seeing old friends and meeting new faces! Super delicious food and beer. I got rained on periodically headed up but nothing coming back. Warmer temps than I expected in the afternoon, so it felt great to shed the gear after putting the bike away. Geez the V-Strom felt heavy after playing with a Beta 350RR last weekend.
  12. Late date, just got home an hour ago. I'm up, showered and let the dog out. Looks like I'll get a little rain on the way up so will don some ADV gear. I'm betting I'll be there about noon thirty, maybe a little before.
  13. Maybe I'll bring a sag stick if anyone wants to set their preload with buds holding their bikes up. Just come knowing your rear shock travel measurement or desired sag distance to save time looking it up.

    About 100 riders, give or take. The Stromtroopers and Advriders board threads are where to get the latest: Spring 2017 - Romney, West Virginia - May 5 - May 7, 2017 https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_fid=91418&share_tid=354049&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stromtrooper.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D354049&share_type=t
  15. I can do. CSC, got an idea of type and count desired?
  16. I'm still in. CSC, keep it easy on yourself - I doubt any of us are going to tweet mean things about your garage tidiness and event coordination skills. Have some basic food and beer available and ask for assistance. What do you need?
  17. Great dealing with you too man! Glad she'll be enjoyed by a known OR inmate and there's a great chance we'll run into each other at Wayne this year.

    There are some great street-only routes and plenty of free-form opportunities, but most of the attendees will be wearing some amount of silt!
