New big tourer this summer from Yammie. Very modern inline 4 built almost totally on biker feedback. There are some leaked blurry pics out there.

Looks like the are going after the Goldwing crowd. They might get me in a year or two if they nail it.

Honda has rested on its laurels with the Goldwing.  It is the same essential bike with a few minor upgrades since 2001.

Dealers will often let you test ride used bikes.   Keep an eye on dealers used inventory.   If you like the bike after the test ride, then buy their new one.

I've got a Garmin Zumo 590, and I like it.  I don't use all of its capabilities, but I like having a waterproof GPS.  I've had to pull off my old Zumo of at the start of rain too many times.

I would love to do some off roading for a day.  Unfortunately,  the Connie is too big to ride trails and too small to pull the Kenda trailer.  Off roading down there has to be amazing.

Leather is a popular option among the HD crowd for looks and protection.  Leather is popular with sport bikes for its superior protection, if you go down at high speeds.  They are 2 very different sets of leathers.   I am sorry, but I cannot answer on the summer weather wear.  I don't have any leather suits.

It's really subjective.  It depends on how you felt on the 250 in your BRC.  I would never disuade anyone from starting out on a small bike.   I still have a 250 in my garage,  and I have been riding for a couple of decades. 

Sv650 are good bikes, epecially when  you are first starting of out.  Congrats on starting out with the BRC before jumping into motorcycle ownership.  That is the way to go.
