  1. To be even remotely efficient the turbos are sized differently then a typical system, and oiling them didn’t work well with electric pumps and such. The one I took apart had oil everywhere and the turbo seals were toast, a little research showed that to be typical. They were marketed to be an easy install. Now if they used one of those turbos that didn’t require oiling from the engine (sorry don’t recall who made them) maybe they’d be good for certain applications.
  2. Remote mount turbos are problematic, especially in a street car. Pass.
  3. If this happens I’ll actually commit to going, I’ll only bail if it rains. How many of you will actually go?
  4. People without insurance or any financial responsibility are also going to simply get sick and be a burden on society regardless if they do thing intentionally or not. While your “burden on society” argument is very closely tied to people overdosing on drugs, it’s just not that simple. That’s a much broader problem. Honestly letting things run their course and thin the herd over time would do wonders for strengthening our society, but nobody is going to get elected by letting worthless leaches on society die.
  5. I think all drugs should be legal. I think most people will continue to not be involved in most drugs, maybe some more weed users but whatever. I also think that everyone takes risks no matter what it is, legal or not, and the person taking the risk ultimately pays the biggest price most of the time. For a lot of risks dying is a possibility, I personally don’t care if someone dies taking a risk of their own free will. For the risks that other people could be getting hurt that’s where the government needs to enforce laws preventing such issues. In the same token I think suicide should be legal. I think people should have other avenues like they do now, but if you really want to die it really doesn’t matter if it’s legal anyway.
  6. Every shop I have ever been in where someone coated the floor it doesn’t take long for it to start going to shit, whether it’s hot tires pulling it up or some chemicals, just not worth it to me. Maybe you can just get some carpet runners to match your drapes.
  7. I would replace the O2 sensors (front 2), and you could consider a tunnel plate (supposedly makes a big difference, but I don’t have one).
  8. Damn that’s twice in a month’s time. Maybe I should’ve got my ass in gear earlier. Oh well have fun guys.
  9. This stuff here is funny. Daily driver just doesn’t equal fun car for me personally. I’d slap a turbo on a 5.3 pickup truck if I could only have one car.
  10. Check out Speed Engineering. Looks like stuff I'd try for a DD and it's not priced crazy for new stuff.
  11. Had 2 root canals done yesterday, and my face is still swollen and sore. Not sure I can put my helmet on so I don’t think I’ll be able to go.
  12. Better go over it with a fine tooth comb, Lash has habit of spending no money putting a used car on their lot. I don’t know who’s doing the used cars up there anymore, but I have no faith in the management.
  13. Super common on that generation of Silverado/Sierra.
  14. I would not use nylon lines, they'll work but make for a sloppy install and god forbid they get loose and get cut or pinched. It's just asking for trouble. I would consider the aftermarket lines RockAuto sells. I used them on both my Cobalts, very easy install as they come is a couple sections, and they work just fine. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/chevrolet,2003,silverado+1500,5.3l+v8,1412086,fuel+&+air,fuel+line+/+hose,11224
  15. I don’t expect it to cost $100, not $1k either. Quality swaps are not cheap to begin with. I bet it’s easier with an LS4 then an LS1, and I’ve seen a few parts from V8Archie, it’d be nicer making your own shit with a hammer, a sawzall, and an angle grinder. His kit that Chad bought to put the F40 trans in his Fiero was a joke.
  16. 3800s are iron block and heads, LS4 is all aluminum. An LS4 shouldn't be a hard swap in a Fiero, that's what I'd want to do. LS4 is a V6 bellhousing bolt pattern, has a very tight fitting accessory drive, and kind of went in place of supercharged 3800s.
  17. Well it sounds to me like you haven’t ruled out a fueling issue. Just remeber the engine requires more volume when running down the road. I’m not saying it’s the slow start problem, but could certainly cause a hesitation. You need to leave the gauge on it after you shut it off and see how long it takes to bleed off. Unless it drops like quickly or doesn’t bounce right back up when you turn the key to run (fuel pump prime), then it’s not causing the slow start. When you screw any fuel pressure gauge on it’s going to read low until you run it and fill the gauge/hose with fuel. You really have to have the gauge on the vehicle and be watching it when the vehicle screws up, if the vehicle is screwing up and your fuel pressure is around 58psi then you can rule out a fuel supply issue.
  18. I really don’t see it being a crank sensor, they typically work or they don’t. Short of an occiliscope, a scan tool that will show the rpms incrementing is how most techs do it. There are some rather expensive test probes that show a wave form, these have become more popular amung techs lately but I don’t have one. I assume you were checking fuel pressure when you were driving under load? and when it’s taking time to start?
  19. Man I wish I had my stuff together for this. I have a few things to fix before I feel comfortable subjecting my Corvette to this.
  20. Yeah I can’t keep the one on my Corvette straight either, drives me nuts.
  21. Being an f-body fanatic I love this car. The paint was probably the worst thing about it, and I’m pretty confident it cleaned up well. It should show well now  David- tweek those exhaust tips a little more and she’ll be perfect.
  22. Sounds like a failing temp actuator to me. But it’s a Ford so I don’t really know how their shit defaults. I bet there are codes in it that could be read with a factory scan tool.
