  1. Having done the training on the 2.7T recently I wouldn’t touch that fucker. Stupid overly complicated cooling system with no thermostat and too many lines, and it’s retarded sliding camshafts. Hard pass.
  2. If he wants the podcast to be successful, I won’t be on it.
  3. You guys like this huh? Just looks like they're going to compete with the Ridgeline. It must just be that Jeep thing I don't understand.
  4. I enjoy facts with mild opinions about whatever they’re talking about. I don’t need to be told what to think by people. For example, telling me about a product, understand how it works and what it actually does (if not, bring in an expert who does), point out what it does differently then other products, then when you want to share you opinion just the few things that stand out. I hate rambling about what you personally do or don’t like, I could care less about an opinion podcast, I would be interested in someone telling interesting stories about their racing, or how they fixed something on the fly, I also wouldn’t mind hearing about new stuff or tried and true methods of making something work.
  5. Just fill up your cars with it, 6 octane points won’t make any real difference unless it leaded. If you don’t want to do it I will.
  6. Yes the 2010-2013 or so Equinoxes are absolute crap, mostly with the 2.4L driveline. I’ve done pistons in so many of them I’ve got it down to 5.5-6 hours from tear down to test drive. After the first few years they got a little better but not much. The exhaust manifolds crack, the PCV system clogs and blows out the rear main seal, the high pressure fuel pump leaks, the balance chain rattles, the cam actuators fail (mostly due to oil starvation, see issue #1), and the camshaft solenoids fail. I’ve gone on about the Acadia, Traverse, ect before, I’ll not bother with that again. GM has pissed off enough people with a few of these popular vehicles, again I’m not surprised.
  7. You know I have a real love for GM, but I have no interest in $60k+ trucks and SUVs. Most of their new 4 cylinders are problematic, and the cars are not that great to look at. I personally like the new Camaro and Corvette, but I can’t see myself going that far in debt for a toy. I think there are enthusiasts that are traditionally into GM, but have similar feelings. It’s sad. Most of what I work on everyday is 4 cylinders with cracked pistons, or engines burning large amounts of oil, or glitchey infotainment systems. I see a much larger amount of smaller SUVs and crossovers getting serviced then anything else. So in short none of this surprises me. What I find annoying is the UAW and the press shaming GM. People don’t buy these products and GM has to make changes to keep from going bankrupt again, if you don’t like it run out and buy some cars. The UAW is is going to kill GM, and the media is on board because it’s a god damned union. This is all going to be a political mess until they come up with something else to bitch about.

Wow, I’ve got nothing. Just laughing at how dumb this all sounds when you say it out loud.
  9. No it’ll never line up, so long as everything is in time when first all lined up it’ll be fine. As a good tip, I’ve had a few of these jump time when first started if you don’t get the tensioner to release before it’s started, really easy to do with a long screwdriver or prybar to push against that guide in the back and make it pop out. Otherwise you dick around rotating the engine around for no good reason.
  10. What is that supposed to do? Make a troll laugh? Put the damn tin foil on your head.
  11. Damn dude really? You were driving cheap beaters for your daily not very long ago. Don’t be a dick.
  12. I’m happy to street race for tracks.
  13. My daughter has grown into a 17 year old smart ass, the way she hates on people cracks me up. Daughter: I hate that teacher, she’s a hoe! Me: you mean she’s a pain in the ass? Daughter: no, a hoe, crazy lady just got divorced and is talking about some guy Me: oh okay then Daughter: she’s a pain in the ass too Wife butts in: I hate that teacher
  14. This is a great post and merits quoting it, I read it twice. I’m really looking forward to 2019 and committing to getting on track again. Thanks.
  15. Well I was thinking about selling this car, and came to the conclusion that I don't need to make car payments on something that won't get driven alot, so for about the 5th time now I'm just going to keep it. So having decided to keep it, I ordered a few different things. I picked out an Edelbrock water pump with a billet pulley (this better not break), 160 degree t-stat, and new cut down but thicker and nicer DeWitts Aluminum radiator with matching fans and built in oil cooler. Here's a crappy cell phone pic. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1000&pictureid=9219 I also have a silicone radiator hose kit ordered, and turn one power steering pump with cooler to install. I plan on taking this car out on track next year, sucks the weather is turning so fast this year I'd like to get it together before I have to store it.
  16. So I was out beating on the car last weekend and this happened. All I can figure is it's some cheap aftermarket water pump (certainly not the original GM pump), it was on the car when I got it, and apparently doesn't like the load of the supercharger. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1000&pictureid=9218
  17. Is that hole in the hood helping with all the air getting trapped in the front end?
  18. If you take your Corvette to Walmart for an oil change then maybe you should buy a new engine. I realize it’s tough to find qualified people but come on, a little common sense goes a long way.
  19. There are 2 drain plugs, nothing tricky about it.
  20. Are you sure that’s just not aerated fluid, happens all the time when adding to a low system? Go back and check now that it’s sat awhile. As long as you don’t see anything sparkly when you shine a bright light into that fluid, you just need to fix whatever let it leak out. Otherwise signs of metal mean you should probably get a pump too.
  21. Sorry but not quite, he said C6s not C7s. The C6 Z06 is a fixed roof only, that changed in the C7. I have fixed a few melted wiring harnesses on C6s keeping the fans from working, ask Tom I fixed his, however C7 Z06s were the ones overheating on track when run hard.
  22. Pay a Corvette tech to go with you to look at it. By the time Grand Sports came out most of the dumb shit had been worked out in the C6. Mostly used car stuff, make sure everything works and things don’t leak. Make sure the balancer doesn’t have any wobble to it, look for signs of abuse. These cars get fairly squeaky and loosen up when they get tracked a bunch, if you’ve been around a few it’s pretty easy to tell how it was driven.
  23. Agreed. Silly things like this I just don't get. It seems like trying to cross a sports car and a luxury SUV is just odd, just because you can doesn't mean you should.
