Bolts right in, minor tuning required. An engine with roller lifters having an issue like this would have me concerned. Are they sure it's not a bent pushrod? Pushrods are much more common. IMHO, buy a used 5.3 and swap it. Done. Given the mileage and the fact that it's used for a daily, it seems like an easy choice to me.

I've begun tearing the 10-bolt apart in preparation for the 9" going in this weekend. Well I was surprised to have small bolts falling out when I pulled the cover. Everything is junk. Hence why my 10 bolt is next to the car and not under it. Might be back up this weekend if everything goes good.

Should have a fan relay you can jump, and a couple fuses to check. A lot of times the fan itself going bad will blow fuses, but thats not a very good way to diag it. Then see if you're getting power to the fan, and find out what's breaking the circuit if it doesn't have power.

What he said, it's pretty easy on an f-body. Belt, hoses, bolts, reinstall, refill coolant and get the air out of the system. No need to remove anything else. Most water pumps are reman units and are pretty much the same, unless you go with a new one.

This would be a lot better then what you had. These can be loaded with custom tunes so you can change the tune depending on what you're doing. I'm assuming Brian is talking about the SCT stuff they have out for GM now.
