  1. Really? You're proving my point. I worked at a Tire Discounters many years ago, I thought I was pretty good back then too. I mean I guess I could bolt on wheels without them falling off, or hang parts and do alignments. So you go Master Tech.
  2. Just another example of how you never know what kind of tech you'll get when you take your car somewhere. It doesn't matter where you go for an oil change you are getting the lowest paid, least qualified person in the shop to do your oil change. Sad part is people want experience but for someone like me to do your oil change without the business loosing money the oil change would cost $100. What's worse about aftermarket places like Firestone is that getting decent employees is so hard anyone who thinks they can work on cars can get a job, getting good work at these places is rare. The unfortunate reality is the good techs end up at dealerships where they can make a good living, and when most people go there for their basic maintenance shit still gets fucked up because of the entry level techs. I'm not sure how to fix the issues with the car repair business but it sucks that there are so many rejects calling themselves technicians when they can barely hang parts. Glad to hear that you only got close to having a wheel off, because it sure could've been worse. I really wish a lot of so called "techs" would quit working on cars or take it way more seriously because the effects of your work put the safety of those in that car and the safety of everyone near that car at risk by doing shit work.
  3. Great to hear, Jordan is a stand up guy, even gave some good advice a few years ago when I was getting rid of my Miata. If I had some patients I'd have gladly went to him for the Corvette and Impala I bought but when I find what I want I run out and buy it the next day.
  4. So did Jim quit or do they finally want a second advisor?
  5. A Corvette huh? Seems to be getting more popular around here, guess we are all getting older. GLWS
  6. Thanks Clay, I try to keep it cleaner then I used to.
  7. No point in running mine, they don't perform as I'd want them to. I just can't get into beating on my stuff at the drag strip when it doesn't impress me or be fast enough to be fun. I know what they will do. If you were there you'd have gotten to spend some time hanging out with me, that's about all that's fun for me about going to Trails. If nobody I know is there to hang out I have no interest in that place at all.
  8. So let's say for the fun of it, where in this country would you want to live. I'm sure a lot of us on CR have lived other places, or at least visited more places then I have. So for me working on cars for a living I'd want to be outside of the rust belt. Cost of living about the same or cheaper as Columbus. Hopefully not nearly as humid in the summer, and I wouldn't want to worry about floods, hurricanes, or earthquakes which pretty much rules out coastal type places. I keep thinking about northern Texas, or Oklahoma, some place like that. Any of you ever lived in a place like that? I'm also interested in Texas because if they threaten to succeed from the union I may get more interested LOL. I'm not really serious about the political crap.
  9. It was nice to hang out, I enjoy sitting in the tower even if there isn't anything cooler then Rick's dragster to watch. A nice way to spend a sunday.
  10. Yeah, a bike to me is just that, a toy. I am not the type of person who really wants to ride for more then a few hours so these seem to fit what I would want. Sport bikes are cool but uncomfortable for me to ride longer then 20 minutes on so I have no doubt that this style is for me.
  11. I don't know why everyone wants to stand around when you could be chillin with me in the suite.
  12. I am very interested in where this thread goes, although buying a motorcycle would likely be a huge fight at my house, these are the type of bike I'm interested in.
  13. Personally I have always hated the Trailblazers, never did anything for me. The front diff on a 4wd might as well be made of glass, it's a big enough vehicle that a 4L60 would need upgraded to take much abuse. I like the trim in the SS better. I think a nice one would. E hard to find. Most Trailblazers with 100k on them just feel beat.
  14. Nobody's car on here runs worth a shit, best of luck.
  15. My wife wants me to get out this week so hopefully some others would like to catch dinner up at QS&L this week.
  16. Wish I could, this has been a shitty week and it isn't over yet.
  17. You know how I can tell you really like Hondas? You intro lacks substance just like most Hondas.
  18. Well that's sad, RIP. Really cool guy, did a lot of cool car stuff.
  19. I don't think a broken fender and deep scratches can be buffed out. It also needs a new mirror that will need painted. I certainly don't want a mismatched finish on this type of car and since it will need big touch ups on multiple panels to look good I would rather paint the whole car.
  20. This is kind of how I was thinking. With the chance for imperfections likely, I may do it myself like I do everything for this reason. I can always keep doing it until I'm happy or trade the damn thing in.
  21. So does anyone have any contacts other then Kevin Clifford? I mean I like the guy but he doesn't seem too interested in painting cars.
  22. I'm thinking that I want my Corvette to look showroom fresh or better, not that it looks horrible but there are some big flaws that bug me and I'm positive those area would require paint to look correct. However doing the whole car seems like a better option to fix many things. So has anyone done this in the last few years, I'm trying to guesstimate roughly what it would cost and where I would go.
  23. Two pretty different set ups, both should do what you want. If going to the LS3 You'll need a lot more small items, a way to mount your cable bracket, fuel rail spacers or something because the injectors are different lenghts (there are more then a few ways for this to work), seems to me the valve covers are slightly different but may work, engines like a different camshaft design dependent on heads, the offset rockers and rocker stands, and I feel like I'm forgetting something. Honestly you could go either way and get to 600 rwhp with boost pretty easy, maybe easier with the LS3 heads.
