    New to me bike

I did some research and it seems that is a lowering link. From what I read on forums on it, the link definitely hinders the handling. It changes the rake. I don’t have the OEM. I looked it up on my local Kawasaki dealers website. It’s $65 for the part. I’ll order it Monday. As far as the drain plug at least they did not drop the front by pushing up the forks in the triple. I plan to get the link swapped out ASAP. Front preload is near max. The manual says the max is 4mm and I have it set near 5mm. The rebound is 3 clicks out. I set the rear preload to like 3-4 clicks out and the rebound doesn’t have clicks. I have it set 3/4 turn out. Before I mess with it anymore I want to get the link swapped out. Tires are 42 rear, 36 front.
  2. The one farkle I want to purchase is a rear trunk with a pad. My wife sat on the bike with me and her 1st words were “this is comfortable “. She seems to be open to the idea of riding with me, so I want to make her as comfortable as possible minus purchasing a Goldwing. I believe you have a Givi. Are you familiar with other trunks? I’ve looked at Kawasaki, Givi, and Shad.

I’m wondering if this could be some of my problem. That gold part is stamped Muzzy’s. I’m thinking it’s an aftermarket lowering link.
  4. @B-Mac I’m glad you were hugging the inside.
  5. I’m liking it. The electronic adjustable windscreen is slick. Seems to help with colder weather. I took the freeway this morning to avoid Bambi on the back roads. It was interesting to mess with the Throttlemiester bar ends the previous owner installed.

    New to me bike

It’s all good now after I cycled it repeatedly. I’ve filled up twice now with no issues. I was hoping you would chime in here. Does the bike feel a bit like a pogo stick when pushed in corners? It almost feels like the suspension bottoms out and then there is a spring back and I lose feel of the road through the bars. After today’s ride I did start to get a little more comfortable with it, but it is a little unnerving. It does seem that I can help things if I accelerate/roll on harder, but it still can feel vague. Some of it may be I need to improve as a rider, but I get the same sensation at higher speeds going straight over bumps that the CBR never reacts to in this manner. Again this is why I think it’s almost a bottom out of the suspension and then an unloading. I’ve only put 200 miles on it. It just may be me and given time I’ll adjust. I’m pretty sure you mentioned before you went from a sport bike to the Connie. Did you have to adjust your riding style or slow down a bit with the Connie?
  7. Thanks Mike. That’s a nice Goldwing. It’s rare for me to be able to ride to work in November.

    New to me bike

Took the Concours out tonight for about 1.5 hrs. I wanted to push the SPORT side of sport touring. Prior to leaving I had stiffened up the suspension to near max. It handled way better at speeds I like to travel. The bike felt lighter and more flickable. It’s not the CBR by any means but it handles well and was pretty fun to ride. I feel like if the suspension was improved the bike would handle even better.
  9. I prefer teaching kids in person.

    New to me bike

Thanks Mark. Agree on low mileage bikes that just sit around. The gas cap lock was actually stiff. I had cycle it like 20 times to get it working as it should.

Thanks B. I’m thinking trunk with backrest for the passenger. Leaning towards Kawi 47L.

    New to me bike

Picked up a 2009 Concours today. Less than 7600 miles on it. Rode it like 30 miles. Definitely a different feel than the CBR. It will take some getting used to. I’m guessing it’ll slow me down a bit. It doesn’t seem to beg to be ridden faster like the CBR does. It will scoot, however, if you want it to. Runs up to triple digits right quick. It’s definitely more comfortable, especially with a passenger. My daughter went with me to get the bike and test rode it with me. She was way more comfortable as a passenger as well. I hope I can get her mother to ride with me too.
  13. I remember reading here about your accidents and figured you might be gearing up to be a little safer on a bike with more power. I’d say good thinking.
  14. Finished the rear tire install, washed it, and lubed the chain. Hopefully there will still be a day or 2 I can get out at least for a short run.
  15. Rode it to work. Swapped out the front tire. Removed the rear tire and just need to finish spooning the new rear tire on.
  16. 4 wheels instead of 2 for me in the dirt. A lap around our farm today.

    Ride Saturday 10-10

@Muckles thanks for the update. Glad you and @Skinny guy were around to look out for Thor. Sorry I was not around to help. I just assumed you all followed Pete instead of me. I’m glad you both made it home safe and Thor is home now.
  18. 95? That’s when I graduated. Just turned 44 on Thursday.
