As long as it's up and not open I might just do that. Thanks for the invite.

You guys crack me up
-
If you end up flipping it. What kind of money would you expect from a 1982 magna? Just asking because I know guys have asked me in the past what an older bike is worth and I have no clue. I don't know that market like I do sportbikes.

As a school teacher it definitely was eye opening. The training confirmed some of my original thoughts about how to handle a situation and it gave me some additional strategies as well. I teach at a high school and our instructor was hesitant to suggest having students put their lives at risk to stop an attacker. I think it is hard for anybody to say if they would put their life at risk in a situation like that. I don't think you can say how you will react in any situation until you're in it. Then to force/encourage a student to risk his or life is difficult for me.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to get a pair since I currently just wear jeans. I figure they have to be better protection than that.
-
I found it funny. Not sure what it says about me.

Primarily looking at a pair of riding jeans. Has anybody bought a pair of them? Did u like them? How did they fit? I'd love to go there in person but a 3 hour drive is a little longer than I'd like to take. http://www.ironpony.com/ipd/pi.asp/ImageName/OXFORD-CASUAL-JEAN-BLUE.jpg/Brand/Oxford/c2/Pants-and-Chaps/c3/Riding-Jeans/c1/Street-Products/KitKey2/Kevlar-Casual-Jean

I know it is difficult to see speed on camera but seems like he should have made that corner easily. Target fixation?
-
For $350 I hope you bought a $300 tire. For 17 days I hope they repainted your rear wheel as well.

The sound in your video is definitely louder than anything I have ever heard from any of my clutches. Hard to tell from a video though. When you change that oil I would suggest you look it over. Make sure it looks ok.

Jack is that bike a single cylinder bike? Not familiar with a kz305.

I can't give any input on your valves. Just thought I'd share my past experiences with clutch rattle. I also own a kfx450r quad that the clutch rattles in the same manner. That clutch does get abused, however. I am not nice to my quad.

This may be true but this guy does not clutch up any wheelies. Occasionally may power up 1 in 1st but that's it. I have bought all my bikes used so I can not speak of what was done prior to my ownership.
-
I have owned multiple CBRs over the years and just about every single 1 made a noise with the clutch out in neutral. When I pull the clutch in it goes away. I even took my 93 to the Honda shop and mechanic told me he felt it was just the clutch rattling in the basket and he would not worry about it. I never did anything about it and the bike had over 30k when I sold it with no issues. My 05 does it and I never worry about it either.

The person doing the wheelie may not kill me but I don't want to live with the fact that when I ran over his body as you mentioned he was killed. No thanks.

That looks good. The wheels really made a difference in appearance.

unOFFICIAL Epic Ride 2016 - POSTPONED TO RAINDATE SUNDAY, May 22, 2016
durk replied to DerekClouser's topic in Events
I plan to be in on this again this year. I rode with Helmutt last year during the spring and had a blast. I'd be glad to ride in his group again or a med-fast group because I know he brings a crew with him as it is. -
That's awesome that you're back to riding again. Sharp looking bike. I too took a break from riding. Got my 1st bike when I was 19. Rode for about 6 yrs then after my second born child my wife said time to get rid of it. 10 yrs later she said I'd be okay with you getting another bike. In less than a month there was an F4i in the garage and I was back at it. Not sure what your experience will be but for me it's been a second chance and I ride more now than I ever did. This includes the best trip I ever had last year to the Dragon. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Happy Birthday. Hope you enjoy your day.

What the heck did you just say?

What I see there is a manipulation of numbers. Not sure I buy what those reports are selling. I know there are breaks and such but I'm not sure there are that many breaks. My thoughts are if it was that good and people could get away with paying no taxes we would have a lot more companies staying in the states. I'm sure the article I quoted may have something stretched as well But it did start to go in detail about how they came up with those figures. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/12/11/burger-king-could-save-a-whopping-amount-of-money-by-moving-to-canada/

As far as people wanting to work. Not sure I agree with the post saying that they want to. I see a lot of laziness as a teacher, and as a coach. Kids are not taught the value of hard work and are often soft because too often they are just handed things. I blame poor parenting. I have to check my self at times as a parent. I want my kids to have a good life, but I don't want them to develop the entitled attitude many have. I grew up knowing the value of what it meant to work hard and earn what you wanted. This is the reason my kids now have steers they take to our fair so I can teach them what hard work is all about.

OK been following this topic and by no means do I claim to be an expert nor do I have the answers. What continues to stick in my mind, however, is the money Burger King saved by relocating its headquarters to Canada. According to the Washington Post they stand to save 1.2 billion dollars in taxes by relocating to Canada. They went from being taxed nearly 40% in the states to just over 26% in Canada. It is no wonder companies move out. Our tax laws are jacked. I worked construction for my dad when I was in college and a few summers after as well. He basically payed me as I was a self employed sub-contractor. I was being taxed 30% of my income. That was rough. Would have been tough making a living make $15 an hour and being taxed at that rate.

Not sure what Nissans you're talking about. I had a 96 and 04 Altima both were over 10 years oldwhen I got rid of them, 04 had 230k and only rust on either was over passenger rear wheel. Have an 07 maxima now w/ no rust.

As an educator tonik I would pretty much agree with you. Often the kids that cause trouble are the ones who are not well off financially. When you speak of getting educated they think you're crazy because they don't know any better since their parents didn't. Grant it I teach in a decent public school but I still see what you're talking about. I have been teaching 17 years now & have no answers to the problem, so I feel you might be correct in stating we are screwed
