  1. Did you try them in riding position with feet on the pegs? I have to say that my Ninja 300 was not all that comfortable to me. The Ninja 650 is better, but at only 5'8" and a little age, after a while the knee bend bothers me. Never have to worry about scraping a peg tho!
  2. Oh my kamisama, you didn't... BTW, on the topic of gear, today made me think of wearing a sporty shirt under my jacket. One of those air-flowing, sweat-wicking shirts. Was mainly a little warm on my upper back, even with a textile jacket, and in the helmet. The Bull-it SR4 jeans with some pads were OK. Even my waterproof boots were OK. 30*C.
  3. They always drift in the proper direction, so I guess there's a tiny amount of lean, or at least offset weight, while the rear is light. It's very distinct from a power drift. I like it!

  5. I mean, it just seemed more extreme in the Moto 2 class. I was wondering is that was just me, the riders in that class, something to due with the bikes, or maybe the track at that time. What I saw was happening during breaking. I've heard that some racers like to slip the rear wheel a little to get the bike pointed quicker.
  6. Maybe better than settling it with a drag race towards a cliff.
  7. I was noticing how the Moto 2 riders get the bike a little sideways going into turns, much more than Moto 3 or MotoGP riders. Any reason for that?
  8. If the man wants a fast bike, the man can have a fast bike. This is the USA. That said, which fast bikes have rider modes or safety features? I imagine it would be pretty nice to have lean-angle sensitive ABS! But I'm guessing we're talking about a lower price range. (Didn't everyone recommend something tall like a V-strom or Versys before? Or was that for someone else?)
  9. Hold up. What I basically posted was support for the idea of a 650 twin, I think. Then a bunch of other stuff, but whatever. So, did I trigger the fight stage or did it just happen as part of the regular routine? I can't believe I have my own place in the chain of events!
  10. Yeah, sorry. heh I mean, everyone is still kinda making the point about the powerplants tho.
  11. Wow, is that even useful tho? I imagine it makes better power at high rev than a 250 twin, but why have all that for 250cc? I had a quiet visit with a Kawasaki Z800 at IP and I liked it! I guess another bike that would be over my head, or just test my discipline too much. (I mean, today's focus was just letting the bars settle naturally in a turn. heh)
  12. Wow. I'm not worthy. 121hp - 89.1kW @ 10500rpm 62.2lb-ft 8.6kgm @ 8250rpm
  13. Right. I didn't think about it before, but is it highly unlikely to have a 750 twin? (How about a 750 thumper?!) What's the smallest displacement triple? And what would be a practical lower displacement limit for an inline-4? I mean, at some point all those moving parts might not be worth the trouble.
  14. That's basically me. heh I'd like something that is mainly a speaker. Maybe I don't even need Bluetooth for that. Just plug into the phone? I don't know if voice commands do much for navigation apps.
  15. That was my shopping list for a while. ^_^ There are still Ninja 500's out there, too. How about a 750? How much more power do they have compared to a 650?
  16. Get some insurance quotes, too. With my insurance company, a 500 is less expensive than a 501+. (I think they're considered sub-sport.) A 600 supersport would probably cost more than a 650 sport-tourer. My 650 cost more than double my 300. Not sure about a 1000. When I started riding--going into my 3rd season now--I decided to take the progressive approach, starting small. Went from a 300 to a 650 recently. In the future I might want a different feel, but, even though I'm getting used to the power difference pretty quick, it seems like plenty for how I ride right now. (I don't know about the suspension.) I found Australia's LAMS guidelines to be reasonable. Also considering how race classes start with lower power bikes. Better to focus on skills and mindset than raw power, at least for a little while.
  17. Does a mic help with GPS?
  18. I'd like to try a phone and either Bluetooth or a wire, but what to use in the helmet? I use ear plugs, so I don't know.
