  1. That's just wrong. heh I like interacting with her on this forum because she is not Isaac's Papa. hehe (I know he will see this and something bad will happen!) More accurately because I get straight talk about whatever the topic is instead of the usual treatment. Don't get me wrong, I like being insulted occasionally. haha Back on the topic; I don't get how some people can be so confident on a public road. Just yesterday a deer crossed in front of me near the exit of a curve. Deer don't respect skills at all. heh I mean, I hate riding in a straight line--I don't even walk in a straight line--but I get why some people only go fast while upright on the street.
  2. The fine details... Should I shoot for shifting simultaneously with the throttle release/clutch disengagement or slightly after? I'm not trying to clutchless shift. Just make the shifts quicker and smoother. I've been pre-loading my shifter more recently while also using the clutch. I've noticed a tendency for the shift to complete about the same time the clutch lever approaches my other two fingers, not after. Is that OK as far as wear, or should I tweak the timing or shifter pressure a little? Also, the shifter will move a tiny bit then stop if I apply a little more pressure than usual. Is that something that I should do or avoid?
  3. Yeah, I started thinking about the braking part. heh
  4. The road doesn't seem to be the most stress-free place to practice taking corners faster! Maybe I'm just getting old, and everyone knows I think too much. heh But working on cornering could get you out of trouble one day. Anyway, if you have enough power, you could always catch up on the straights! Get it to 90mph?
  5. The 2007 GS500F seems to be missing the bar ends? Just curious how much that would matter. (Not getting perfection below $2500.)
  6. I saw a couple of GS500's between $2000-$2500 that seemed decent. In that price range there are bikes with new or newer tires at least.
  7. I've just noticed they don't work as well if I put them back in too soon. Could just carry multiple pairs and use different ones.
  8. I wonder if this has much potential. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/6185727943.html
  9. I was hesitant to suggest that one. Rear tire looks done and the headlight is hazy. What's the deal with the rear turn signals?
  10. How many times can foam be re-used? They seem to need recovery time between taking them out and using them again.
  11. Imma check into Progressive again before I move.
  12. Cruisers... https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/6185432163.html https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/6168266173.html https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/6185695481.html Yeah, I created a saved search for the Cinci area and I'm surprised by the number of suspicious adverts. Maybe because I'm searching $2000 and less? I don't recall seeing that many searching C-bus up to $4000.
  13. BTW, it was a republican motorcyclist who pushed for this change. The minimum age requirement kinda makes sense. We don't have that in OH do we?
  14. Right, but most people would say they do just to decrease the rate. So, yeah, if the card stated that you agreed to wear a helmet but don't have one on, a ticket would be in order. Only thing is, it doesn't help the insurance company at all. Now, if your insurance was made void, that would be tragic, but people might take it seriously!
  15. Oh, I didn't know about clauses like that. When we lived in NJ our car insurance was much higher, so any insurance rate in OH is decent to me.
  16. Me, too. When seat belts were made mandatory in NJ way back, people were annoyed by it. Now I feel naked without the belt. It's a habit that we're now required to teach to kids, which is good. (Expect when only a lap belt is used and someone becomes paralysed by breaking their back in half. It's happened)
  17. True. And I was just thinking, instead of having helmet laws, insurance companies could just charge a penalty if you crash without one. That way the risk doesn't translate to higher rates for everyone. Then again, they probably want to charge the highest rates possible. $2600/year?! I'd change bikes! Get a V-star 650. hehe
  18. Good point about the families as opposed to the rider. My wife always tells me, just don't linger! haha BTW, I wasn't trying to start a debate, just posting some news. It's more relevant to me since I plan to move. It's in the off-topic area anyway.
  19. Don't some people from OH ride in NC? WTF tho? People on this site talk about all kinds of random things. At least this is riding related.
  20. Meanwhile in NC... "Motorcyclists ages 21 and older wouldn’t have to wear helmets under a bill that passed the N.C. House Transportation Committee on Monday." http://www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article146467264.html
  21. I wonder if this will start 16. (EDIT: It did not.) How's this? https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/6165674941.html
  22. Right. The RF-1200 was maybe tolerable until it breaks in, but the GT-Air would not go on with the 35mm pads! So, you don't find that the internal sun visor leaves too much of a gap at the bottom? Is it still like a greenhouse in the sun? I /really/ like dark tint, but I've gotten stuck after sunset.

    $500 wasted

We just let him keep the $500 out of $1500 and said he's done. He did slave away for a whole day and the agreement was $500 up front. I /did/ think of deducting for wasted materials, but it's really my subjective call and choice to not continue. Probably $100+ in materials. But, I think it just adds injury to insult. Next time we'll be more careful about who we hire. Now I need to rip it all out. Maybe salvage some of the tile.
  24. Did you have to change out the cheek pads? Did it feel more comfortable on the ears after pulling down on the pads right after putting the helmet on?
  25. Question about how the pads fit over the ears in the GT-Air. It feels strange until I pull down on the pads under my ears. After that it feels like my ear is in the empty space, which feels better. Is that normal? Should I have to pull on the pads to make it more comfortable?
