  1. Looks like swamp gas to me...
  2. I was about to send off a rather large check to pay my school tax, when my wife calls me and tells me that one of her co-workers said if you lived outside of Columbus, but worked in Columbus, you could take 1% of the city's 2% tax and apply it towards your school tax. Has anyone heard that before? I have a call into a tax friend of mine, but go figure, he's busy today. Anyone heard of this before?
  3. I own both, an '86 Gt and an '03 Cobra. I love them both and would have to be hard pressed to sell either. It's the best of both worlds. Honestly, I'd focus more on http://www.autotrader.com instead of SVTPerformance. On Autotrader, you'll find more cars that are closer to stock and in better condition, as most "older" guys that are selling them, didn't mod them much and have never been on a performance message board. My car was the perfect example of this. I almost blew it off, as I didn't like the one crappy picture the guy took of it. Two weeks went by and I called him on it anyway. It turned out to be a perfect condition '03, with a CAI as the only modification, and just 11K miles. The guy was probably 3-5 years older than me, and had never even thought of moidifying it further. With SVTPerformance, you get all the kids on there who have modded the shit outta their cars, raced them, beat the hell outta them, then figured out they really can't afford them in the first place. Oh yeah, and you'd better check your insurance rates. Don't be one of those guys who pays $200+ a month to insure their Cobra. Personally, I think if you pay that much for insurance on a sports/muscle car, you should be driving something cheaper until your insurance comes down. Anyway, I found these on Autotrader within 100 miles of Columbus: Stock '03 in Toldeo with 20K miles, $25K Stock '04 in Hamilton with 44K miles, $23,900 I'd jump all over that white one if I was looking for an nice, stock, well cared for Cobra. Miles and price are about dead on. Good luck with your search...
  4. Yeah, no kidding. I mean, it's Cobra or nothing at all, as far as I'm concerned...
  5. Very well put. I keep a safe distance, so again, I don't care about them...
  6. Personally, I don't run red lights, so I don't care if we get them... :gives:

  9. LOL, I was gonna suggest that, but I have no idea what his guy does for a living. I was giving the benefit of the doubt, that he makes enough for a payment that high, is putting money away for retirement, etc...
  10. That seems to happen a lot lately. I actually agree with that, yes. I like the driver's position better in the Cobra (more upright, not so "sports car low"), but in terms of clutch and other factors, the C5 is more driver friendly. I'm used to a heavy clutch in my '86, so the clutch in the Cobra doesn't bother me...
  11. I'd go 03/04 Cobra, C5, or GTO. However, I'd use the Civic for rainy days as well. My Cobra doesn't see rain or snow. V8 + RWD = sucky for rain/snow. If you're looking for a non-modded Cobra, good luck. I bought mine two years ago with 11K miles on it and nothing but a CAI. Two years later it's got 16K miles, and only a cat-back exhaust, shifter, and the CAI. I could have it back to stock in a matter of hours and sell it for just as much as I paid for it, if not more. The value of Cobras, especially lightly modded (read "non-pullied"), is holding fast. They are tough to find in this kind of shape. But I love my Cobra. I like it better than my 2000 Formula it replaced. Great bang for the buck, kind of a sleeper (looks like every other Mustang on the road, I actually like that), and really, there aren't too many 03/04's on the road. I can't remember the last time I saw one other than the one under a cover in my garage. GTO: Also a sleeper, great interior, LSX engine. Most people really like the 05/06, with the LS2, updated hood and exhaust, but if you don't mind the 04 LS1 version, they can be had really cheap. C5: Looks great, turns heads, LSX engine, just a great car. The reason I never got one is that I wanted a back seat and I didn't want the cops staring at me.
  12. I hope JetBlue comes in, or maybe Frontier? Some smaller airline should...
  13. I agree. I'm really sad to see it fail. Not surprised, but still sad none the less. Back on January 2nd when they had the $20 sale, I got tickets to have my mother come out for $63 round trip! My mother's been out here one other time to see me in 8+ years, so I jumped all over that. She had no problems with her flights, and not soon after, they canceled service to the Oakland airport that she flew out of. I'm glad I got her here when I did, but I'm also pissed I never got to go down to Ft. Meyers cheap and see Sanibel Island again...
  14. I don't have one anymore, but I did about 10 years ago: http://www.wease.net/pics/Cobra1.jpg
  15. If you want to and have time, sure!
  16. Don't worry, I'll take lots of pics...
  17. Well, I've made my decision and found what I think is a great deal. We'll be going to the Renaissance Resort & Casino, July 18 - 25. They have their own private island out in front of the resort! Found a woman who was renting her timeshare, 5th floor, ocean view, for $1200. If I was to rent a hotel room there, it would have cost me about $2800. That's the key with some of these places, not just Aruba. Find a timeshare that someone wants to rent out and take that instead of the hotel. You'll save a bundle. Plus I've got airline tickets lined up for $496. I think this is all a pretty good deal for this resort. And we have a friend who will dive certify us this summer, so we'll be doing some diving as well. Now I can't wait to go!
  18. That's what I'm starting to think. Great pics, keep them coming if you can!
  19. Great info, can't wait to see the pics if you can get to them. Thanks...
  20. Another CR "school casualty". If I had a nickel for everyone on this site who wised up around your age and sold their toy, I'd have a lot of nickels. Seriously, it's a smart move. When I was about 22 (I had been in the Air Force for about a year) I told myself that I wasn't gonna buy a "nice" car until I had two things: 1. A good, steady, money making career 2. A house with a garage So I sold my '93 Cobra and drove some other assorted stuff until I finished my degree and got out of the Air Force. And 10 years later, it was still a good decision. Finish school, get a good job, enjoy that insurance break at 25, start putting money away for retirement. Then get some new toys...
  21. Yes, and leaving wife/daughter at home...
  22. I'd like to hear about anywhere else people have stayed in the Caribbean as well. My wife, daughter, and I are going on a trip this summer, but we haven't decided on a cruise (5 day cruise out of Tampa to Cozumel and Cayman Islands) or some other Caribbean trip. I'm thinking really hard about going to Aruba. Great weather, hardly rains, not in the hurricane zone, casinos, lots of great diving, etc. I've been looking at a lot of hotels, then figured out if I took someone's timeshare week, that would save me literally almost half of what it would cost to stay in a hotel. A few of the hotels I've looked at have timeshares there, and some of the people with those timeshares can't use their week, so they rent them out cheap. Anyone been to Aruba, tell me anything good/bad about it (other than the Holloway case, I know about that), where to stay, what to see?
  23. LOL, I'm a dumbass...
