  1. You act as though the market is the same for every profession. The other factors: - Pay: why apply for a job that won't start you out at a liveable wage? I've seen a number of jobs that I'd be way more than qualified for, but the starting wage isn't enough for me to survive comfortably (or uncomfortably) on, even though I would move up fairly quickly (or so they say). - Location: some people aren't willing/can't move. I'm not willing to move at this time. Mind you, I'm not in any need of a new job, and mine pays the bills. But relocating is not an option. - Travel: many positions require heavy travel. Again, I could make more money right now on a job requiring this, but I don't want to. I wouldn't mind minimal traveling, but if 80% work is that, screw that. - Certain previous job "titles": I've applied for a number of postitions that are management positions. I have management expereince under my belt; I've done reviews, write-ups, training, the works. But none under an offical management title. And talk all you want, without a certain title, many places will just overlook you. - Contract job: I won't take one; I've been unemployeed before, and don't want to deal with that BS again. I'm a firm believer in working with a stable company. A lot of work I've looked at is contract work, some contract to hire, but you can't trust that. Not everyone has the same job hunting expereince. Hell, I'm not really complaining in my situation, as I'm not really job hunting, just have an updated resume that I'm willing to send out to something I find interesting, as anyone should be that wants to keep their options open. I know how to move up in a company, and have done so a number of times. Hell, I have guys working under me that have been in the business way longer than me. Doesn't mean that gets me another job somewhere else.......
  2. And I could give two shits about the displacement of the motor. Want an example?? A 7L LS7 is externally SMALLER than a 4.6L DOHC Ford Mod motor? And ya know what, if it makes more power and gets better fuel mileage, does it really matter how much displacement it has?? It could be 20.5L, but who cares if the packaging is still smaller. Look a the packaging size of that 2L motor you are touting. GM does offer OHC I4, V6's, and V8's. The DTS, STS, and XLR all use OHC motors. I don't think any of GM's current I4 motors are pushrod anymore. As for V6's, I think the only pushrod motor left is the tried and true 3.8L (in N/A and Supercharged for of course). The 2.8, 3.5, 3.9, and 3.6L V6's are all OHC motors. So as far as GM's cars are concerned, the following are pushrod motors: 3.8L V6 LSx based V8 motors. Which have been proven to do very well in fuel mileage. That's it. Where are all the rest?? As for the car-size classes, yell at the EPA, not me. I copied it straight from their information...I'm not making the stuff up. You seem to think it is fair to compare these German cars costing 3-4x as much (but none of that extra cost is in the drivetrain, lol). The simple fact is their mileage isn't bad at all. If you killed off GM's truck division, they would be easily beating out all of the regulations. Obviously BMW, Benz, Audi, VW, etc. don't deal with that, as they aren't in the truck market. Their SUV's don't sell in as high of a percentage, and aren't designed for towing/hauling like the domestic trucks are. Sure, Toyota and Nissan offer a decent 1/2 ton truck, but it doesn't sell in nearly the volumes of the domestic trucks. It you want to do some real towing, domestic is your only choice. If you want a real work van, again, the imports have nothing for you. It's simple: domestics have a much bigger offering of large trucks/SUV's, and these kinds of vehicles are in demand, which is why they are the bread and butter of the domestic makers. If the imports offered and sold in high percentages the same things, they would be having the same issues. Eric, just because YOU don't like big SUV's doesn't mean no one else should be allowed to have them. Besides, I don't see Audi, BMW, etc. offering anything that's going to tow my car to the track, and would be way too expensive if they did. So I guess my gas hog Avalanche will do just peachy.
  3. That broad was more scared of doing a few donuts than going 150+ MPH. Hey lady, there is nothing out there to hit, and spinning the car around in no way could flip it in that situation, so WTF are you scared of???!!! Dumbass broad.
  4. I love how all the examples of RWD cars doing the gas mileage thing are also lower volume, higher dollar cars. Sure there can be better gas mileage had (as the article said), but it's at a price. A price the consumer isn't willing to pay. But hey, we can just shove a high HP 4-banger under the hood. Guess what people, there is a thing called area under the curve. Peak numbers don't mean crap if what is under the curve isn't up to par. But hey, I've got a great business idea Eric. Let's say I have a product that sells very well for the market it is in (H2 and H3). I make great profits with it, and people demand it. But since it is hurting my average fuel economy ratings, I need to get rid of them to build far less profitable cars that aren't in as big of demand for their market. But hey, let's do some comparisons of Chevy and Pontiac (since those seem to be the focused on brands), with the same size cars the EPA rates that have been mentioned (going by EPA’s classifications). Mid-Size: Audi A8: 18/25 Chevy Malibu: 21/31 to 24/34 Chevy Monte Carlo: 18/27 to 21/31 Pontiac Grand Prix: 18/27 to 20/30 Compact Cars: Audi S4: 15/21 to 15/23 BMW 328i/xi: 19/28 to 20/30 BMW 335i: 19/28 to 20/29 Chevy Aveo: 26/34 to 27/37 Chevy Optra/Optra 5: 23/30 to 22/32 Pontiac G6: 17/24 to 23/33 But wait a second, for the sizes, the GM’s are doing better. Yes, they are lower HP (and WAY lower in price), but not too shabby. Now let’s list GM’s V8 cars: Corvette: 16/26 to 18/28 Caddy XLR: 15/22 to 17/27 Caddy CTS-V: 15/24 Caddy STS: 14/21 to 17/27 Chevy Monte Carlo SS: 18/27 Buick Lucerne: 17/25 Caddy DTS: 15/24 to 15/25 Chevy Impala SS: 18/27 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP: 18/27 Hmmm….doesn’t look like GM’s V8 cars get that bad of gas mileage to me. But let’s dig further. Nothing out there touches the Vette in terms of performance/gas mileage for anywhere close to its price, so no bother looking further. XLR competition is the SL series Benz, and it gets worse mileage. CTS-V , STS, and DTS? Comparably quick 3/5/7 series cars, Benz’s, and Audi’s aren’t any better (actually, most are worse). Lexus does pretty decently, but not really in the same performance categories either. Same goes with Acura. Nothing really to compare to the FWD V8 GM’s in terms of performance/cost, and not really the scope of the article at hand anyway. But let’s get the numbers straight before touting off about how the Germans are getting it done and GM’s get the worst gas mileage ever. Edit: Numbers based on 2007 model year EPA ratings, since we are currently on model year 2007.
  5. Look, you are the one getting all pussy hurt. You state: "the previously mentioned OPTI is a PITA because the front of the motor needs to come apart to change it. " I simply said that statement is NOT TRUE. Fans can stay (so of course the radiator does too). Now you are saying it's expensive too; I paid $190 for a brand new GM Vented Opti. Not bad for a distributor, cap, and rotor. Oh, and I bought that from a GM dealer, and not with some "I know person xxx hookup." Then you state "Dont waste your time on a LT1." But it's not a waste of time at all, and a lot of the parts ARE cheaper. Pistons, crank, rods, pretty much the whole shortblock are all GEN-I stuff = far cheaper than LS1 stuff. Pully setups for superchargers are better (and less costly). Do LS1's have more potential? Yes; they aren't stuck with a single block (and aren't stuck with Iron only), far better stock, ported stock, and aftermarket heads, better stock ignition setup, better PCM support, and sort of better intake support. But you are acting like building a LT1 is a waste, when it has been proven time and again it isn't. Fastest stock suspended LT1 is only about a tenth behind its LS1 counterpart. Fastest 6-speed F-body is an LT1. The LS1 has the bigger aftermarket and support now, but the LT1 is by no means dead in the water. If I were to do it again, I'd probably build an LS1. But there is NOTHING wrong with building an LT1, and it is always fun to whoop up on the big headed LS1 owners.
  6. Jeez, and I'm in a happy, healty relationship. My g/f is freaking awesome. There are good chicks out there.
  7. I'll probably need mulch in a month or so. But how do you measure to see how much you need (I've never mulched before).
  8. The Sony 400 disc DVD changer my g/f got me for my b-day does upconversion, but I haven't bought a TV yet to utilize that feature.
  9. Just another reason why I buy used and do my own work. Factoring in the time spent dicking around with a dealer, I could usually just do the work myself.
  10. Back when the Formula saw daily driver use, I had 555's up front (never had an isssue with them, and they wore really well), and the 555 Drag Radials out back, which did very well in the rain until I wore them down to nothing.
  11. Ehh, my Treo 700p work phone has it, and has lots of latency (but it IS with crappy Sprint service). I might actually enjoy it if I wasn't dealing with Sprint.
  12. Mario won that race, he deserves 100% credit for those. Mario is the reason everyone got to enjoy them, he could have hogged them all for himself, as they were really his.
  13. Perhaps you should avoid talking about things you know NOTHING about. Front of the motor??? If by front of the motor you mean the water pump and balancer, then yes. And that's it; nothing else. One thing people forget about is LT1's have a number of parts that are FAR cheaper to purchase, simply because they can use GEN-1 SBC parts. And since there is no bigger motor aftermarket that GEN-I SBC stuff, it can be had for a reasonable price. Let's just say I can (and have) a built shortblock for a lot less money than an LS1 guy can get it. As far as LS1's, their real advantages are heads, many more block choices, and now a larger aftermarket. The Opti issue has been cared for in the aftermarket world, done, over, quit bitching about it.

I can get you pretty much anything you would want (with key of course). Private torrent site that's difficult to become a member to, but I'm not hurting my ration d/ling something without $omething in return.
  15. Yeah, I'd just shit a brick if I was standing on the top of that mountain.
  16. She isn't hot, but isn't ugly either like some of you are claiming (of course I've seen enough people on the internet complain about chicks being ugly, then either not even be able to get a g/f, or have some chick on their arm that is embarassing).
  17. Yeah, those are great tits. Fakes suck; wrong feeling, scars, nipples that are many times just not right, don't sit right, incorrect amount of bounce, etc. And big naturals end up sagging in the end, or are attached to some chunky broad.
  18. That's crappy. I've been broken into several times in the past (but not since I moved to Reynoldsburg), and it feels like you have been violated. The revenge I would get if I caught someone breaking in would be excellent. It's not that hard to hide a body...............
  19. Why is it I have a hard time imagining a 4-banger being "sick ass sounding." Unless you mean by that "sounds like shit."
  20. Agreed. Besides, with typical dealer markup, it will be priced in the Z06 range AGAIN, and still get its heavy ass whooped by the Z06 (that also has way more features, handles better, better gas mileage, looks better, higher top speed, quicker acceleration, better braking, higher class of car...must I go on?).
