  1. whoever voted for the 5.0 is graemlins/gay.gif and graemlins/fruit.gif and full of graemlins/bsflag.gifgraemlins/asshole.gif
  2. An 8.8 with a good center section, girdle, 31 spline mosers and "c" clip eliminators is good 6-800 rwhp, easy. They've been pushed wayyy farther than that. I'd say the way yours sits now, if you beat on it hard, it's good for 500 rwhp. But will break with time.
  3. this is getting out of hand....look at this
  4. this is interesting there was also a Service Bulletin issued by ford, does that mean they'll fix it for free? what is the difference in a Service Bulletin and a recall?
  5. Anyone know a cheaper rebuild shop? I'll pull it etc...
  6. Ok...the cuplprit... '93 Crown Vic, 4.6 v8, AODE with 140K miles. Here's the deal, when it locks into OD, it gets a HORRIBLE shudder under acceleration. This is a known problem with the AODE. Here's my ? I've seen first hand where in situation like this if you change the filter and fluid it can actually make it worst. Someone once told me it was beacuse the "old" fluid has small clutch particals in it, which actually keep the trans from slipping worst. Any input? What would you do? It's easy to work around, just drive in 3rd and then when you get on the freeway let off the gas, hit the OD button, let it engage and then get back in the gas. I dunno....sorry to ramble
  7. Did you mark your drive shaft to diff before taking it apart? Could be a 180 or 90 degrees out. Try that. An aluminum drive shaft is a VERY wise investment, it will absorb 90% of your drive train vibrations.
  8. Depends on the offset. I've seen 295/50/15's mounted a set of 10 holes. You will be pushing it with a 7" rim. I have 275/40/17's on my Fox, and I still have the quads. Very tight fit though.
  9. Jegs has misc mandrel bent pipes. You can also order from JC Whitney online. Tuning with the carb is going to be very tricky, but not impossible. You'll need an EGT gauge obviously. The best thing to do is go to any search engine and type in "twin turbo mustang" and read away. Good luck.
  10. I have an automatic style radiator in the Mustang and I'm running a 5spd, so I don't need the transcooler part of the radiator. Could this be used as an oil cooler? Or, would it overheat the coolant/engine? It's a 3 core radiator and the car always runs pretty cool, even in the dead of summer. I'm just trying to save space/air flow for the FMIC. Any thoughts?
  11. Did you get it installed ok?
  12. Easy install but a waste of money if you ask me. Especially if it's an Autometer. Get a EGT gauge instead.
  13. "Flaming Ferry" ???? I always wondered about you. graemlins/fruit.gif So the rumors about you and blackbird are true! graemlins/gay.giftongue.gif

  19. Although there were no mechanical changes from 1992 to 1993 (aside from hypereutectic pistons replacing the previous forged aluminum pistons), both the horsepower and torque ratings dropped for ‘93 - horsepower by 20 and torque by 25. The reduced ratings were influenced by a stack-up of minor mechanical changes and by changes to Ford’s engine evaluation processes. Dictated mainly by emissions, fuel economy and customer satisfaction requirements, a series of mechanical revisions had been made since Ford initially assigned the engine’s 225-horsepower rating for 1987. These include a restrictive resonator added to the inlet tract (1987-1993) that produced a 5-7 horsepower loss. The small camshaft profile change in 1989 reduced HO output by 3 horsepower. The restrictive mass airflow meter in the inlet tract introduced in 1989 yields 2-3 horsepower less than the speed density system. Some minor exhaust system revisions made between 1987-1993 also add up to another small reduction in engine output. The second contributing factor in the re-rating of the ‘93 V8 involved changes in the processes that Ford used to select engines for testing and the engine’s state of dress (with all engine-driven accessories) during testing. Combined with the ‘87-93 mechanical revisions, the revised-for-1993 testing procedures add up to the ‘93 model year’s reduced output ratings.
  20. Mixed opinions are just that...facts on the other hand are, well....facts. OK. The stock cam is not junk and it was the same in all the HO motors from '87-93. 93 was the first year they didn't use forged pistons, that was the only difference that year. The stock cam has great overlap and duration for drivability and boost. Spend your money on 1.7 rockers for now. Decent ported E7's will add anywhere between a 15-30 hp gain. ($150-200) Decent aftermarket heads add 50+ depending on the intake etc. ($1000 +) What's in your wallet? What's the bottom line? Ported E7's + 1.7 Rockers + adjustable fuel regulator + dyno time ='s more than 50hp for $4-500 You do the math. Now, with that in mind and not forgetting the fact he may not have $1000+ to spend...which is a waste of his money?
  21. I did a mild port job on my e7's and saw a decent gain. I couldn't give you any solid #'s though. I run the E7 cam, it's pretty decent. Good 3,500 rpm's and up. The stock cam is a really nice cam, especially with any kind of boost. I have a set of decent '89 E7's. They're your's for $50
  22. My .02 says it's the tranny. My Mustang vibrates in 2 and 3rd only as well. Nothing REALLY major, just enough to annoy you. A T-5 rebuild kit is like $150. I hear they're easy to rebuild. I have a friend that might rebuild it for him, for a small fee. BC
  23. My dad just went down the same road you are with his '00 Dakota 4x4. Turned out it was a broken belt in the tire.
  24. What's going on? DJ has my # BC
