  1. 13 months until I get Joe more drunk than he has ever been! Utah this February... Next February?
  2. Skiing, I'm on the Ski Patrol too. I still run an bike sometimes. Admittedly I've only gotten 1 ride in this winter (when we had that warm snap) and no running. I need to get some time in on that for cardio before we go out west for the ski trip this year! Traveling for work.
  3. This just popped into my head again for some reason and I found these. Manual switch (optical audio) http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042302&p_id=2946&seq=1&format=2 Optical to Coax digital audio converter. It sounds like you have 2 Optical audio sources. If you have 1 optical and 1 Coax digital audio input on your receiver, you can use this to convert 1 of the Optical to Coax and input it that way. Then you can still switch with the remote for the receiver and not have to manually switch it via the above method. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042302&p_id=2948&seq=1&format=2
  4. In all seriousness, hope you get well!
  5. After knowing this background and thinking on it some more I was just going to come back and suggest this exact thing. At the very least get that six month (expenses) buffer if you don't have it already. Use this to start it.
  6. Call it and see if your insides vibrate and start playing Barbie Girl.
  7. What did you lose up in there?
  8. Well, you can do #4, then use that money to do #1, 2 or 3. Any of them look OK, but I think at least 1 suit should be included in anything you decide. That also depends on what your current suit suite looks like. If you already have a few (at least 1) nice suit(s) that fit you well which you fell good going to interviews in, maybe not needed. But there is nothing like going to your first interview with a fresh new custom fitted to you suit! EDIT: Typed too slow, I agree with Nitrousbird.
  9. I fucking HATE the system that is in place that bouncers and bars can get away with this. Tell him to bring hell fire down on this place. File a suite against the CPD too since those lazy sacks for shit are ignoring a senseless act of violence. None of his friends that were with him saw it? He'll have to be very careful about how he goes about getting that tape. Approach it wrong and that file is erased. If what he's saying is true do you really think this is frivolous? Sue the place under the idea that all proceeds are going to go to the state victims fund, after lawyer fees and any medical cost to your friend.

  11. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the XBox only has optical... I assume you are thinking coax (RCA type). TJ, coax (RCA) or optical type? Or just buy a new receiver. You can get one that does HDMI with audio for cheap now a days. http://www.audioholics.com/buying-guides/how-to-shop/2010-entry-level-a-v-receiver-comparison-guide These are all from big name companies that you should be able to find some of at Best Buy, or at least online (for probably cheaper).
  12. Why couldn't this be useful on his B5 S4, depending on what all he has done to it?
  13. Tickets matter for fuck all, or at least they didn't matter last May. That's the real answer. The people giving out beer are other drunks like us and they only collected about 7 of my tickets before they stopped. I think the ticket thing is a formality/legality that maybe they can't say it's unlimited alcohol.
  14. Two days away! What's the plan... meet down there at 6? ANYONE is welcome to cab pool back to my place and crash. I live pretty close and don't want anyone driving home because the cab ride was too far to their house! Pumped that Phantods are going to be playing.
  15. Lol... i knew something like this would come up too. There was never a bill, or a request for payment.
  16. I actually liked this place and enjoyed shopping there until now. You normally pay when you return the video, but they were closed the last time I returned a video. When that happens you pay the next time you come in to get another video. I hand't been in there for a while and had simply forgotten about it. I would have been in there again and paid at that time. Or if they wanted me to pay they could have politely called or written a letter simply stating that I had an over due fee. The first contact of them trying to collect was a poorly composed extremely scathing letter which multiple times threatened to send me to collections over $7.44. I always pay what I'm supposed to and when I'm supposed to. I have flawless credit and will be buying a house a few years from now. I take that threat extremely personal. The letter was worded like I was trying to not pay my huge $7.44 bill. So I went across the street and promptly paid it and canceled my account. I won't ever shop there again! I would suggest everyone to do the same unless they also enjoy being berated via letter by someone who writes like a 7 year old. P.S. And yes, I do have Netflix with a stream device hooked up to my TV. It's just nice to be able to pop across the street and pick up a movie on short notice. That's why it had been so long since I had been in there. I just thought I would get that out of the way.
  17. Get her some high end designer lotion and have a fun night in... http://sweaty-palms.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/palm.hand_.jpg
  18. Check out Original Mattress Factory, we just got a new bed from there and really like it so far. Have you tried stretching exercises, yoga, or something of the like? I bet something like that on a regular basis could really help out. This can help with general streching. Also if there is an issue and/or you are in shape you probably have some muscle imbalances that this could help immensely with.
  19. Before I go on a rant about the bailout I'll address the OP. I guess if someone races there often this would be worth it to them. If the track truly can't afford a repave it's likely because track rates were too low. So those that raced there often are just backpaying their too low entry fees from the past. If that is the case it was a bad business model, they will likely have this same problem when the next time to repave comes around. No one would dream of going and giving a $20 to their favorite bar or restaurant if it were going out of business, just to try to keep it in business. My main point was about it being a for profit. If you are going to donate money to somewhere please donate it to a non-profit whose cause you believe in. I don't see the analogy. Our whole economy probably would have failed without the bailout. And as far as I understand the government didn't give anyone money, they bought things from them. They bought loans from the banks and stocks from the auto companies. Which they are selling back. Isn't the government on track to make money on the financial sector bailout and looking pretty good for the auto bailout too? I'm not condoning the bailout 100% or thinking we should ever do it again. I'm defining it as a necessary evil. If we get this financial sector oversight thing right and people are reasonable with their money we probably won't have to worry about this again. This depression didn't happen naturally, it was forced by greed on all sides. I just heard a really interesting This American Life (radio show on NPR which takes mundane things and looks at them from an interesting slant) called The Invention of Money. They talk to the Fed during part of it. This is separate from the government bailouts, but still a very interesting article. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/423/the-invention-of-money
  20. Donating money to a for profit organization makes no cents...
  21. Because news outlets should be there to cover the NEWS, not their opinions or feelings.
  22. Bottom line is that if it's a plain old 2.5i with no options it was an $17k car new. Should be much less than $14k 3-4 years old with 40kmi. It's not just KBB that says much less than $14k. Edmunds says $11.4k and NADA says $12.5k. I've never been to Carmax even to browse so I have no opinion of them outside of being very leery of a big chain that looks to be the analogous to the Walmart of used cars. Having said that if I walked into a place and saw a car that should go for $10-12k, whatever that number may actually be, marked for $14k I'm walking out. There is no point in even window shopping there if I'm actually looking for a car. Am I going to have to haggle with these snakes (all used car sales people are snakes) for over $2k just to get to a reasonable price? NO thank you. And now my opinion has been mostly formed about Carmax. Unless the Carmax schill from earlier in the thread can justify that price by saying they polish the car with Unicorn semen that makes it smell like Jessica Alba and go twice as fast as stock I won't bother shopping there.
  23. At Soviet Car Max, car comes in used and goes out new!
