Meh, not too bad. Never done one before and took me a few hours on Sunday and Thursday to take apart. Then got it back together very quickly on Friday. It would have gone quicker if not for two things. 1) But a set of hex head sockets. I have them if you need to borrow some. You’ll eventually need them on that car anyways though. I got a smaller 3/8” drive 10 or so piece set and a larger 1/2” drive three piece set for something like $25 at Auto Zone. 2) I also ended up buying a two foot breaker bar. I had to stand on the end of it to get the axle bolt to break free. Spec. on the rear is 80ft-lb plus 180 degrees! It’s best to break it lose while the car is on the ground. You’re supposed to be able to do it in the rear with the tire off and the e-brake on, but I couldn’t. I had to put the tire back on and drop it back down. 3) The ABS sensor bolt broke, small hex bolt. Just far too much rust for that small of a bolt, snapped the shaft. My immediate thoughts were ‘Fuck’, then ‘Well there has to be a connector somewhere before this wire goes inside of the car’. Think again! I had to take the bottom of the back seat off where there was a connector for the ABS line. Then there was a Styrofoam grommet on the inside, a dead space, then another rubber grommet on the outside. I guess that just an FYI because you shouldn’t have to deal with this on the front. If the ABS sensor’s are like my Talon in the front (they were very similar in the rears), it should be much easier to get off once you get the bolt off. I’d bet the bolt is the same though so be careful. 4) The tapered portion of the shaft on the ball joint that is supposed to lock into the knuckle for the lower control arm didn’t stay locked. They did on my Talon as I was backing the bolt of so it wasn’t a problem. They didn’t on the S4. As soon as the bolt was backed off a little it came unseated and started to spin. I eventually got it off by very carefully using a pair of vice grips (as to not damage the threads) and when it got further off I had my uncle use a pickle fork that I beat to be skinnier to put force on the bolt outward. That took me a while to eventually get off. Went back on much easier, but before I put it back on I used some PB Blaster and kept threading it on and unthreading it, it would go a little more every time. I’m not sure how the alignment is adjusted in the front, but try to mark anything wherever you need to. This can save you from messing up the alignment too much and needing an alignment afterwards. I didn’t worry about this when I was working on the car, just wanted to get it done. Hindsight, I needed one a little anyways. Results they gave me back had some of the other wheels out of spec too. It might not be a bad idea on your car if it hasn’t recently had one anyways. Here’s what I ‘followed’ for my rears. I didn’t remove the RLCA bolt first so I couldn’t move the brake assembly without removing the brake fluid line. I’m also not sure how you can remove the break assembley like this suggest in the front due to not having something like a parking break up there. That made it really convenient, I’m not sure what you could do in the front. I couldn’t find a tech article for the fronts and I don’t know how much different they are. Do some searching around Audi World, that’s how I found that article. Let me know if you'd like any help.

Actually took this picture about a month ago but am just getting around to posting it. For those of that don't know me, I own two cars. Here are both of them being worked on. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid140/p1ebcfd709772a6cd1d3615a4e7c7e88e/f6f45c57.jpg A wheel bearing went bad in the S4. This picture was taken a few days before I took it to a track day in Michigan on a Saturday. I got the bearing finished on the Friday night, got it aligned Saturday morning and then went to the track day. I am overhauling the suspension on the Talon, poly graphite bushings all around, as well as rebuilding all of the brakes, all new wheel bearings, new hardware everywhere. Going to clean up all of the metal and paint it while I'm doing this too. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid139/p19862c156b7ac5b8653a655cd6abe0c2/f709474d.jpg For anyone graemlins/gives.gif

By that logic you must be a piece of shit.

Sorry to rehash, but maybe I didn’t get my point across clear, I do that sometimes. You didn't hear any talk about Osama prior to the war because there could still conceivable that they had WMD's, which was a good enough of an excuse at the time. The administration is even sticking to that story now, saying hindsight is 20/20. Then when it didn't look like they were going to find any evidence of WMD's they said that Iraq and Saddam were harboring and funding terrorist, including Al Qaeda and Osama. Then when people found out that wasn’t true they said It's to get Saddam out of the power and bring freedom to the people. This is my take on why Saddam did what he did with the UN. Saddam didn't let UN inspectors go everywhere when he did let them in and didn't let them in at all later on because he was narcissistic. I think it's obvious that someone who can do what he did/had people do to other human beings has some sever psychological issues. He didn't think there was a good reason why he should let them see anything because he was the ruler of his country and was so powerful that there was no way he would ever be overthrown. I don't think he would have every thought we would get that far and that there was even a need to move anything bad that he had lying around. That in no way proves that he did or did not have any WMD's, but I don't think him having and needing to move the WMD's was not the reason as to why he wouldn't let the UN inspectors in.

I don't disagree with that logic and the illegal trading, going against the sanctions, needed to be stopped. There was a problem in Iraq and it needed to be resolved. The UN was not really doing anything about it. Even if one can consider what the UN was doing even slightly effective, it would have taken forever. Could something else have been done to try to resolve it without force? I think so. Was there really a clear and present danger? I don't think so. But by that logic weren’t all of the countries that were selling things to Iraq also spiting in the face of the UN sanctions and we should also attack them? As much as I would like for us to attack France, I don't think it would be a very good idea to attack all of the countries that are on that list. I think what 01NFRs2k was referring to was the fact that, the reason the administration has given to us for us being in Iraq has been changed three times. First it was WMD's. The administration says that all of the information they had at the beginning of the war did point to Iraq WMD’s, or extensive abilities to produce them and a will to use them on us. That was reason enough to go in. We wanted proof, but there was none at the time, we couldn’t get it because Iraq wouldn’t let weapons inspectors everywhere. There was never any WMD’s found to date. So the new reason why we went in was because Iraq had direct connections to Al Qaeda and supported, financially, 9/11 as well as other terrorist activities. Well, there’s not any evidence to support that either. Now the reason is simply that we got a bad dictator out of office. Well, Saddam’s been a bad dictator for a long time and we felt the need to do something about it now. Why now? Evidential to that is when gassed the Kurds in the 1988, and we didn’t ever do anything about that use of WMD’s. Saddam actually did something very bad back in the early 90’s. Something that was a real reason for us to go to war (oil was obviously an ulterior motive at this time, but he WAS trying to forcefully take over another country). Also, did we have the backing of the UN for that war (something I don’t know and couldn’t find in a quick search)? We started to go into Iraq, but didn’t finish the job like we are now. Why didn’t we finish it then and why are we finishing it now? I think it’s great that Saddam is out of power and that there can be a free Iraq that governs themselves as they see fit, and that hopefully out of all of this there can be some more stability in that area of the world. The end does not justify any means. I just don’t think that we have some god given right to go around reshaping the world as we see fit, when we feel the need to. I would have hoped as a country, and eventually as a world, we could grow out of the idea of colonizing. It’s just not right.

Jesus titty fucking christ I'm glad someone else is seeing this too. Also, their want to play like a team is shining bright through how I've heard quite a few of the players speak during interviews. Makes me want to tell their moms they need smacked around a little bit.

Just saw it yesterday afternoon and that was quite possible the funniest movie I've ever seen.

Someone must tell me what this Google is you speak of?

Funny or just what one should expect? They have 'tuning' in their name, implying that they 'tune' cars. I would interpret tuning as tweaking things on a car to make it faster. You can tweak electronic signals, or the mechanical signals that feed the sensors, changing the toe, caster, camber or compression/rebound settings, etc. Yet they have 4 forums for all show and 2 forums for performance.

Or maybe just give me coherent directions. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

I was remembering your post wrong Mike. That is the way I went and it was very easy. Last night, 'I said you make a left at the dead end and that takes you to main?' 'Yup' That's only two lefts including leaving Shawn's. That did not take me to main St. Dave, you directions work, but are alot harder, and some much longer, than going the way Steve posted.

I'm trying to take as an unbiased approach to this as possible, despite this being posted in the kitchen I'm going to try to have a rational 'conversation' about this. Let me also state that I am an active member there, but have no stake other than that in TA. I didn't help start it and am not a moderator. Well, you addressed half of that e-mail which was the half that says why they thought you were registering, to continue the argument which was started here. You said that wasn't true, so that takes care of that half of the e-mail. You did not address why you do want to go to the board, you didn't even say in your post that you are genuinely interested in anything that the site has to do with. There are plenty of people on here I've seen post about auto-crossing and/or road racing (to a lesser extent), whom aren't on TA. I can never remember you posting about any of these things, and you never stated in this post that you were even slightly interested in any of the things that the board is about. Secondly I am just sitting here wondering why you posted this in the Kitchen? I only see one of two basic reasons for this. You are assuming it is going to get ugly and you don't want it cluttering up non-crap based portions of this forum. Or the second option is that you want it to get ugly. If I were you, and I thought that something like this was going to get ugly, I wouldn't post it, but that's just me. I would have e-mailed the admin back and stated exactly what you stated here, along with why I was genially interested in that site. I can only assume from how this is written, seemingly towards the admin who wrote you it, you did not e-mail them. Therefore you are posting it here wanting it to get ugly, and more than likely didn't have a genuine interest in the site. Just my take on things, trying to look at it from an outside perspective. This almost reads like an e-mail back to the admin’s initial e-mail stating why you want to join. If that’s the case, you are going about it entirely wrong. EDIT: You guys got those post in while I was writing this.

I hope so. Him and alot of other players need to shut the hell up and play like a team. If their comments to the media reflect their drive to play football as a team, for their team and not themselves, it's not a surprise to me at all how bad OSU is doing this year.

I think the volume issue is just the programming, or the source. It is more than likely not altered by the provider.

I don’t know, maybe the ones by me are just different. The selection and people at Advanced by my house are total crap. The under-achievement of the people at the Advanced is only eclipsed by the under-achievement of the people at the Pep boys. The Auto Zone by my house is very good. It’s amazing, the people there actually know stuff about cars, and how to use their computers. For the auto parts places close to me, it is the only one I will go to. I had always heard about the same from people around Columbus, I’m actually very surprised to hear people saying they like Advanced and don’t like Auto Zone.

If you would have given me good directions out of their place, I would have been fine. Then again, you endorsed Dave’s shitty ass directions to Eagle’s Pizza.

I'm pretty sure I saw that car at whoever's house I hung out at after Eagle's Pizza last night. I’m not sure who it was, thanks for the games of pool, but you really need to get better taste in cars. graemlins/nod.gif

Do us all a favor and stick to what you say you are going to do and quit posting. You stir up and/or cause just as many problems around here as they do.

s13 sr20det is giving me problem around the clutch area
Trouble Maker replied to ColumbusDrift's topic in Tech and Tips
Search around and talk to other Nissian/SR20 owners with a spec. clutch. Within the past month or two there had been a very large number of people on the S4 forum of Audi World saying they were getting bad spec clutches. They were going out with very little miles, just like yours. I don't know what exactly this problem was rooted in, bad quality control, poor design on the S4 clutches, etc. I do know that no one recommends them as a clutch possibility anymore. They are bad enough that people are getting spec. to replace them, but they aren't even bothering to use the new spec. one in, they just buy another brand (it's a major PITA to do a clutch on these cars). It might be something to look into. I also don't know enough about the subject matter to speculate if it might be the clutch or not, just wanted to give you a lead to work off of. -

Good stuff, glad they have it down here now, but it used to be a special "When I'm up at Windsor" beer. It just doesn't have the same appeal now.
