Welcome to the board. Did you turbo the KA24?
-
No, thoes movies are dumb.

Beer, pretty much anything from Sam Adams. Except for that sissy Sam Adams Light. Mixed drinks, I like Jager and Red Bull alot, but the Red Bull usually upsets my stomach, too sugary. I had a bar tender make me what he called a Mind Eraser the other day. It was a Long Island with just a little sour mix and the rest of the sour mix was replaced with Sprite. The sour mix usually upsets my stomach too. I like that drink alot more, I might start asking for it when I go out and don't feel like drinking beer. Straight (good) Vodka will do any day of the week.

You didn't imply that when you said "totally normal...v-8's do that" I wasn't being a smart ass, hence the tongue.gif Shoot me in the foot and hang me for trying to have a technical conversation on an automotive performance enthusiast board instead of the mindless drivel that most people post day in and day out. At least I'm posting something informative instead of going around grunting about how high my 4 banger spins and how much hp/l it makes or how much torque my v8 makes down low. Not everyone knows stuff like this. I didn't when I first came to this board. Posting generalities that aren't informative will just further people’s misunderstandings of why certain engines do well in some areas and lack in others. EDIT: I in no way want this to turn into an argument and clutter up Wease's thread, that's pointless and counterproductive. If you want to discus what I have posted about 'my dissertation on engine dynamics', please do it here. If you feel like you have to get into a pissing match, PM me, but don't expect me to necessarily PM you back. I'm no implying that you would necessarily do that, just want to head off anything that might derail this thread.

No, what's really funny is that it doesn't take any brain power to spell check something in MS Word or another program of that nature, just a little bit of common sense. But then again, anyone that would take DJ on when he is on this kind of roll must not have very much common sense.

It will just instantaneously readjust or do you have to reset the ECU and then keep running that mix? If it will adjust that much, then why do people need the power commander if they put bolt-ons on their bikes? Just asking.

Fixed. tongue.gif It's not just V8's, but that's how they seem to generally be designed. If you designed an I-4 or even a 'normal' sized V6 like this you would have such a small amount of HP it wouldn't be useable. That's probably why they generally design V8/larger displacement engines for torque down low and not hp up high and don't design smaller engines to do this, they will still make a useable amount of HP. HP in it's simplest view is a product of how big the engine is and how fast the engine is spinning. I just wasn't aware that the 5.0's, and apparently earlier modular engines were 'torque monsters'. When you put a power adder, esp. turbo or non-centrifugal blower, things change a lot. "Crappy Heads" seem to mean "bad flow", but that means they will be more restriction down low and make more torque. I didn't know that about the different heads, first year for EFI and gears on the Fox-Bodies Wease, thanks. graemlins/thumb.gif Actually I know I've asked people numerous times about the gears, but I just forget stuff easily. tongue.gif Yeah, I knew about Brian's primer car on spray and snow tires, but I didn't know what all was done to it.

That's what I was wondering as soon as I saw the "Cam2 Fuels" topic on the main page.

Hey man, sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Asked the guy at work today and he said: 'No, they aren't hiring, he would want to work there anyways.' Me: 'Why's that?' Him: 'Because their checks bounce.' Lol, sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

Didn't know that, but that is very cool. I wasn't implying that I though it was the only racing game with it, but I think it's very cool that it does have it. I am very into racing games, and while I think some of them I have played are very different and very fun, none of them can hold a flame to any of the Gran Turismo games from a racing simulator perspective. Imho.

Is it 'normal' for the 5.0's to have that much torque compared to the HP or is that just what happened with the combo of mods you have? What would a decent to good running stock one dyno at? What's stock gearing? TIA.

Haha, that's the exact reason I bought a PS2 and not an XBox or Game Cube. I will probably still get an XBox at some point, but this game is why I purchased a PS2.

I don't know how good the stuff is, but I like it ever time I turn to it. We have WOW analog cable and there is a BET Jazz channel that I've found myself turning to quite often when I don't really feel like watching anything. I've been listening to it alot while I'm falling asleep lately too. It might be a good place to start. I think there are a couple of clubs around Columbus too.

Damn, everything I heard about this game up until this point has said it was going to have online play. I was really looking forward to that aspect. I'm sure it will still be a kickass game. Nurburgring=I just had a wet dream, but I'm awake.

You're not too far off of that MPH. You're running pump gas too correct?

Turning up the boost is just what is known as turning up dynamic compression of an engine. That 9.0:1 or 8.5:1 is just the static compression of your engine. So turning up the boost is the same thing as increasing the displacement and turning up the compression ratio. I'm very skeptical (read, I don't believe it one bit) that DI can 'eliminate' detonation. It's just the way any gaseous combustible will work when compressed. As you compress the mixture, it WILL get hotter, eventually reaching the combustion temperature before it is supposed to. The propensity of this process to pre-detonation will only be reduced allowing a combination (or even only one of); higher compression, more timing, and/or higher boost. It does this by two main effects. First, since the fuel is directly injected by high pressures, the mixture is more homogenous, creating a more efficient use of the fuel and air present. Air that isn’t used during a combustion process will create even more heat in the combustion chamber and a higher propensity to detonate. Secondly, DI uses the timing of the fuel injection to create an air ‘curtain’ around the combustion mixture, which makes an insulating barrier between the fuel/air mixture and the sides of the combustion chamber. This will mean that, theoretically the combustion process will not heat up the sides of the combustion chamber. Thereby eliminating theses pieces of metal to be a possible source of detonation, further eliminating the propensity of the combustion process to pre-detonate. If I’m remembering the article I read correctly, it does this by stopping the injector before the end of the ‘suck’ stroke and sucks air in. The way it comes in from the intake port causes it to ‘swirl’ around the sides of the combustion chamber. I’m not trying to start an argument, this is just what little I understand about the combustion process, pre-detonation, and DI. I just don’t see how the concept of pre-detonation can be totally eliminated for any gaseous combustible. If I’m wrong in any of this Mallard, please correct me.

Werd, when I went looking for cars I went to two places (I got very lucky looking and found what I wanted). Both of the places I went to, both of the sales guys were asking me quesitons about cars.

Yeah, it's not turbocharged stock. Yes, it would definitely be sufficient and AWD for winter and plenty of room to carry crap. That might not be his preference, but I'd definitely look into it if it were me. Hell, there was a moderately modified one beating me in the S4 around Gingerman when we went. People need to shut their hole when they have no clue what they are talking about. Plus I'm trying to figure out why anyone would twin turbo a VR6. That's the dumbest thing I think I’ve ever heard. graemlins/nutkick.gif

Have at it if you think you are game. I very highly doubt it, if you had any sense of what it would take to flame someone you would do it instead of suggesting it. I'm thinking you're going to have to sit this one out on the bench lightweight.

Bwhahhhahaahhah, deep breaths, bwhahhhaha. You talk like you've actually watched some of that trash.

I'm not sure what they go for, but that also seems expensive to me. Also, is it a SOHC or DOHC (or what year 240 is it out of)?

I'd rather be ugly than look like a nazi. So glad I grew out of my blond hair. graemlins/grin2.gif Although I don't consider myself ugly, I'm VERY glad you do or else I might be afraid you'd come onto me. graemlins/gay.gif Plus when you're as well endowed as I am, it doesn't matter as much what you look like. I'm sure you really wanted to know that. graemlins/puke.gif
