Yeah, Bee Line is pretty good. Our van that we take on long trips was swaying back and forthe really bad, especially when it was weighed down with all of our stuff. We thought it was the rear leaf springs so we went there and they replaced them, didn't help a whole lot. It ended up being the cv joints I think, but it wasn't having the same problems as your typical cv joints going bad. A very good shop would have figured it out or at least tried to. They did a good job on leaf springs, but they didn't fix the problem.

Thoes suck not worth the money, buy the factory service manual if you are going to spend the money. I run into more wrong or useless stuff in my Chiltons every time I work on my car. Don't take me wrong though, if you aren't that mechanically inclined or don't know much about your car they can be great. It was helpfull when I was 18 and just bought my car, not now though. So, any Admins, I think we need a poll. Should Marks new business be him detailing other peoples cars that are to lazy to do it themselves or handing out advice about cars?? tongue.gif

What's a Dead Head unit VS. A return syle regulator. Does a dead head unit limit the pressure on the feed side, and I don't really see the difference where you regulate the pressure??

I guess I need to pay more attention to trucks

Anything is possible with the right ammount of money and patience. I think it would be much cooler and cheaper to just turbo the engine you have in there right now. That would be a site to see though, a v-10 out of a viper might be more fesiable, abliet more expensive, but even cooler. -
Figured out Saturn Problem, now how to fix??
Trouble Maker replied to Trouble Maker's topic in Tech and Tips
Well he actually said that none of them wern't getin pulses when I went and picked it up. He said that there is some kind of driver for them and if it fails none of them will get pulses. I'm gona tear into it tommrow when I get home if it's not too late regardless of how cold it is, I was being a bum tonight and didn't do anything. I figure it won't be too hard to trace wires with that diagram using a voltmeter set on resistance (you can make them beep when the see and open circuit, aka wire, if it's broken it won't beep)... But I found out my PCM is behind my dash so it apperas as if I might have to tear it out, blah. I'll dig into it tommrow and report my findings. -

Oh yeah defintely about the fuel pump thing. I've had good luck with the Tuffy on the westside, more than I can say for other places me and my family went so I'll take my cars there from now on until they do me wrong, they seem pretty competent. The guy gave me some wiring diagrams and I just got home so I'm gona go check it out now. He said there seemed to be some damage up by the injectors so I'm gona check that out, but he said they did a voltage check up there somehow and that wasn't it. Other than that they didn't say anything about any damage they saw and I haven't looked at it yet. This might be a lost cause I realize but I'm still going to try. We will just have to see what happens, I'll check on that part too, it does sound a little weird now that you say that. But from what they said it might be all of the wiring harnesses, not just the engine one, because they said something about having to strip out the interiro to do it... I'll get back to you all when I look at it some more. Thanks. -
Well folks I checked what I could and I coudln't find anything so I took it in to Tuffy for diganostics. I called them today and they said that injectors #1, and #2 aren't geting pulses from the ECU and they traced it back to the wiring harness. They wanted 1400 dollars to fix it, the car's not worth that much. Parts alone like 500, can't spend that much either. We are going to bring it home tonight and me and my dad are going to look at it and see if we can see any visible damage to the wiring that goes to thoes two injectors and go from there. I don't know if a wirinig harness is the type of part I should try to get from a junkyard or not so I need some help from more expierenced people here. They also said it's very labor intensive and I realize this, but if a few days work and a few hundered bucks mean a car for me I'm more than willing to do that. Thanks in advance for any help.

Therefore someone who is a tunner can't modify peopls cars legally without having them sign that wavier, it's a liability thing.

Are you sure the ones on the website wern't perfomance calipers? I've done mine before, it's not really that hard, I can help if you need it (although I'm by no means extremley experienced or an automotive prodigy, but I'm very good with tools). I'm pretty much free for the next week, spring break (if you wana call it that), just let me know what's up.

Jet hot coat the whole thing, that would be pretty cool.

Ok, I've seen videos with cars runing with parachutes at tracks, but they don't go off, what give. Do you need them at a certian point for simple safetys sake, and then if you get in trouble you can use it, or if you are over another limit does it need to go off no matter what. What are the standards for roll cages and parachutes in the different tracks around here? How hard is it to remove thoes things so when your out on the street you don't attract tons of attention? I saw a car over the summer with on one out on the weekend, I had allready heard the car was fast before I saw it, so that didn't suprise me, in fact it just looked kinda weird on the street.

I'm dumb anyways according to them, I can't even understand what I say let alone what you try to explain to me, on that note I guess there is no need to discuss this anymore... well maybe not till this weekend when I dismantel my car and still can't figure it out because it's something totally different than what I suspect. It wouldn't suprise me, I mean I haven't been right about what was wrong with my car every other time, making educated well though out guesses about what seemed to be wrong. I can't do that, I'm dumb, forget about that. Shit, everyone listen up. If I start to not sound dumb at any point on here or when you meet me, correct me and remind me of how dumb I am.
quote:
Originally posted by MR. EARS: Damn that's so true and sad thing is a lot of places hardly test anymore they start replacing parts

Yeah, when it went bad over the summer, like I said, they told me it was the starter and fuel pump. They said they defintely though the starter was bad (at this point you would just hear the relays click and it wouldn't try to turn over at all, the start totally died) and that the fuel pressure was low. They wanted like 700 for parts and labor, fuck that, I'll do it myself. They did want to replace the fuel pump first then if it still didn't work then the starter, didn't make sense to me becuase the starter was bad, why not replace that first. Well I replaced the starter for like 100 bucks and a short day of furstation and the problem was fixed, I hate auto shops. I replace everything on my car myself, last thing I had done at a shop, replacemetn wise was 2 and a half years ago, egr stuff and tires. Since then I've done brakes (pads, disc and calipers), starter, alternator, 02 snesor, ideler and tenisoner all by my lonesome, with the help of my dad. My engine did allmost fall out once, I had my car and fabraction genius friend fix that one for me. Oh yeah, for whoever was saying something about the spark plugs being fowled, my car has new plugs too, just replaced them this summer for shits because I knew they were old and it takes like 2 seconds, along with the plug wires, so I would doubt that my plugs are fowled allread when the old ones wern't that bad, but I'll check them though.

Uhhh, yeah, I have lots of money to replace something that isn't broken Nbodyracer. Not to flame but I don't replace something to see if it's the problem, I'll find out the problem first and then replace the broken part. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll check it out this weekend and get back to you with the results. Much appericated. Peace, Jesse.

Allrigh, last time I was at home my car died. It's a 1991 Saturn SL2. I have no clue what is wrong with it, it showed no signs that I picked up on or can remember before this happened, it seemed to be runing perfectly fine. I just parekd it at a friends house and it wouldn't start up. It would try to start up and it would start once for half a second, then die right away. After that it would just turn over. If I let it sit for a minute it would start and then die again, then just turn over. It did the same thing when the starter died, but I replaced the starter so I'm assuming it's not that (well for a few minutes, then it just quit trying to start cuse the starter totally die). I didn't check the spark, but it's turnign over, so I'm assuming it's geting spark. When my starter died I wasn't sure what was wrong, so I took it into tuffy to get it diagnoised, they said starter was bad, but also that my fuel pressure was low. I didn't replace the fuel pump at this time but I am suspecting it now. I'm gona be home this weekend and week and I'm gona check it out. First thing on my list is to check the fuel pressure. What's the best way to do this, my pos haynes book says there is a bleeder valve where you can check it, but where they show it is right underneath of my brake fluid resivor so I can't get to it. My dad was saying he thinks we can try and break it at the fuel rail (there is a nut there connecting the line to the rail). Any help on what you all think this might be and ways to check would be greatly appericated. Later, Jesse.

Something sweet for Mopar and old muscle fans
Trouble Maker replied to SupraGlue's topic in Tech and Tips
Well obviously there is going to be some lag time but if you are making most of your bost by 2000 rpms and your stall converter is above that then it doesn't really matter. I've seen a few V8's done right, such as Brians Stang, and it apperas this car, that are runing mild bost, 8-10lbs, that spool all the way up by 2k to 2.5k. If you launch at 3k then there is no lag time. It does take time to spool up, but that's not any of the time your driving down the strip, which is what really matters. Blown cars can be impressive, but I still don't like them as much as turboed cars. Nothing like the sound of a nice bov and turbo's spining at 100krpm in a car imho -

My uncle's f-250 has a fuel injected 460, he just got it rebuilt (lots of miles) .060 over. That thing, even before, can pull ANYTHING. It has so much torque it is unbelieveable, 3000lbs in the back, no problem, 6000 on the tralier, no problem. By no problem I mean you barely even feel it in the truck, he does have quite a bit done to the suspension too for towing. He says he wants another old f-100 some time, he used to have an old one before he got this, and wants to biuld that engine for hp and make a race truck out of it. I hope he does it. -

quote:
Originally posted by GT3 Master: Check out Hybrid Honda. It is a very good place to get info. Hope this helps.
