  1. This is a logitech wireless optical mouse. It all started a few weeks ago when it kept disconnecting and I'd have to make it reconnect. Replaced the batteries and it did it a few more times but then it quit. Started doing it again just every once in a great while a few days ago then today it was doing it every 15 seconds so I decided to try and fix it. First tried new batteries again, no go. Tried to reinstall logitechs software and that didn't work either. Tried to install a different driver from the logitech CD and this is when stuff went to shit. The mouse totally stoped working (led for the motion was still on but it had no functionality). Tried to turn the computer on and off, didn't work. Pluged the wireless mouse back in and it started working again, didn't disconnect anymore... but none of the buttons worked. Thought it might be becuase of the PS2 and USB mouse at the same time, disconnected the PS2 still no buttons. Restarted the computer again. A mouse setup came up asking me what I wanted to make the buttons so I'm thinking 'sweet, this things gona work now'. No such luck, the scroll button and side button work but neither normal top buttons work. Any help? I'm honestly just about to whip this piece of shit clean and put win2k on it. My dad redid it a while back and put 98 back on it, I told him not to. It's never run right totally right with 98 on it. Also when I try to open up the control pannel it crashes explorer. Like all's I see is the backgorund and nothing else.
  2. That's what I'm thinking, should be geting a call within a few days on whats wrong. Thank god for that waranty, I've heard people having 4k-11k invoices depending on the extent of the damages (most still covered under some waranty). Rumor that one can get a used tranny from europe for 2.5k so if you kill a tranny that's the route to go. Fucking expensvie car. graemlins/nonono.gif
  3. Well it's in the shop, $105 for diagonsis. I'll have to pay that if whatever they find is not under waranty. If it is it's a $50 duductible. Shit happens, at least I'll know what's wrong with it. Maybe I'll get some newer internals in my tranny out of it. graemlins/finger.gif
  4. It won't shift into 1st or 2nd with the car on or off, all other gears, 3-6 and reverse, are fine. But 3-6 were kinda rough at first till i moved in in and out of them a few times while in netural cruising. So it could be linkage or internal? I'll see if someone wants to go out with me around lunch and I'll crawl underneath of there. I don't hear anything different from the tranny while I'm driving (although this happened ~5mi. from work).
  5. Background info, 2000 audi s4 6 speed. They are semi-notorious for weak syncros. ~58kmi. on the car. Driving ~40-45mph on a 2 lane rd. and go to pass someone up, try and downshit to third, never had any problems with it before (no grinding, but 1st would grind every once in a great while). Go to shift back into 6th and it kinda doesn't want to go, shifter is very hard to move, shift a few times and the stiffness goes away. But I absoutley can't move the shifter into 1st or 2nd gear, doesn't even grind. Figure it's not the syncros because it doesn't grind, and I tried to double clutch into second and first and that didn't work. I'm just asking for speculation as to what it might be. The reason being is that I have engine and driveterain waranty on the car. If it's something in the tranny it will get fixed for a $50 duductible. But if it's something not in the tranny they will charge me ~$75/hr just to diagonis it. I wouldn't think it could be anything in the shift path because it shifts to 3-6 fine. Thank god I don't have that many standing starts from here to the dealership. tongue.gif and
  6. You should never need nitrous to spool a turbo unless your trying to make stuipd power on a big turbo, too big for the engine really. Not a snowflakes chance in hell you should need it. Turbo lag (spool up really, lag is techincially the time it takes the air to move through the system once the throtel is depressed) is overrated! From the sounds of past post your doing a pretty modest setup, if you get a smaller turbo, spool up time should be minimal. Full boost by somewhere in the 2.x krmp range, nothing to worry about at all! When you shit, if your racing, you'll never see below whatever RPM your seeing full boost by.
  7. That's a big suprise! graemlins/doh.gif BP gas stations could all blow up and as long as noone got hurt I'd be a happy man for a few days.
  8. you mean in series? series ----+-----+---- parallel ------=-------
  9. I'm having a hard time understanding what it's doing, might want to reword that. But I don't know a ton about auto trannys anyways, so I might not be able to help but I'm not sure anyone is going to be able to decipher what your saying. tongue.gif At any rate, change the filter when you change the fluid too. I got a kit when I did my talon, comes with a pan gasket and filter. And some other little filter (very large pours, looks like a screen) that I couldn't get to with just droping the pan so I didn't replace that. Yours might be a little different depending on how you tranns is set up. They should have something like that (kit) for your car I would think. Takes a bit more work, but that's the 'right' way to do it (I guess not a whole lot more work if your tranny pan doesn't have a plug, do they all have plugs?). This will also allow you to get to the magnets and clean them off.
  10. I've never seen a non-centerfigual super charger set up like that. Someone's wacked out on goofballs.
  11. Yup, I'm as happy as a clam. You got a PM so I don't hijack this good man's thread about headlights.
  12. These tires will only be used in the winter (unless you were being sarcastic saying we have all 4 seasons during winter). Only time these would be used non-winter is for a spare set if they were all seasons. I allready have 1 set of summer tires that came on the car, and I will def. be geting better tires at the least for these rims, if not geting a whole other set of rims with summer tires that will be on the car spring, summer, and fall. So for a tire that will only be used for the winter, still an all season set?
  13. What makes more sense in Ohio? New car came with summer tires. Plan on keeping summer tires that can do decent in the rain for everything but the winter season. Will probably get a nice set of rims w/ new tires next spring (the tires I have right now aren't great summer tires, just decent, and I plan on going +1 anyways). That way I could have my summer tires on a set of nice rims and keep my winter/all season tires on my stock rims. It might be nice to have a second set of rims with just all seasons on them for the non-winter season too if needed. For instance swap them on for long trips so I don't use up my soft summer tires or maybe when I know it's going to rain alot but I have to drive that car (for whatever reason). So does it even make any sense to get winter tires in ohio or does the cost and increased rate of ware just make it non-sensical for somewhere that doesn't see very much snow? Suggestions on a good winter or all season tire would cool too. btw, this is for a 2000 audi s4.
  14. Yeah, but the projector and/or lense (my HID's have a lense in front of them) can drasticly affect how 'good' the beam you get from your car. For instance, people get the headlight assemblies for my car that were originally on the europan cars because the lense is different and it gives a little more narrow focused beam (mine are pretty wide and low). They europan version also has a clear corner marker, but that's just a side bouns, the american projectors can easily be taken apart and the orange film removed. They are auto focusing/leveling and if you have a tool to play with the computer you can change the focus a little bit, but not a ton. I've heard of people doing this, I think I had found a DSM sight before were a guy put HID's in his car and different projectors. But if I'm remembering right he just put the whole projector (metal reflector thing) inside of his stock one, even though supposedley the stock DSM projectors are good, didn't look astetically very good, but the beam looked awesoem. I guess he might be able to get as good of results staying with halogen lights and geting better projectors than going HID with more effort and less money. Stinkey pete is probably right though, HID's would be your best bet if your looking for better vision, pretty easy to instal, but expensive.
  15. So... that was my problem. I would go to different computers often.
  16. idel surge, extra air coming in at idel for some reason, check vacume leaks and then do what I posted in the other tech post that says idel surge problem.
  17. Your car idel surges becasuse it's ideling too high and car sees a lean condition (more air, no more gas cuse your not steping on it), it puts more fuel in causing the idel to go even higher. The car realizes your rpm's are too high without the throtel and backs the fuel off, but then your back to the lean condition causing the constant loop. So basicly you have extra air geting in that's not supposed to. clean out your throtel body and whatever 'valves' are in the throtel body too as best you can. Sometimes carbon will biuld up on where the throtel sits and will cause it to not shut all of the way leting extra air in. Whaever your car uses to idel too (idel control steper motor or something to that affect) can be dirty or damaged). Carb. cleaner works well to do this, just make sure you clean it up pretty well before you start the car back up. I did thoes first and then I adjusted my biss (base idel set screw), there's an extra port that goes through in the throtel body (I think) in dsm's. I just adjusted it till my idel was where it was supposed to be. It's been totally fine after that. It had been geting worse and worse so I was afarid that it was something slowly going bad, maybe leaky egr (ISC's usually fail quick like), and it would come back again, but it never did. Can also be extra air geting past a leaky egr (if your car still has one). You can try to quickly fab up something, maybe out of a piece of sheet metal, that can act as a temp egr. block off plate. And if that fixes it, you can get a real egr block off plate (hell, you might even be able to take yours off, not real sure how your ECU would react to that).
  18. I had this same problem. I used to access my harddrive on my computer from computers around campus in the labs that had speakers on them. I didn't do it often enough to figure out the problem, ya know, when other people are in the lab it's kinda rude to play music (I wouldn't, but of course there were other people who would ). I would just clear the playlist and readd the songs. Lol, that was alot of help. tongue.gif
  19. Yeah, I haven't seen the setup, but the newer explorers are werid. You need to press the rotors off and on or something crazy like that. Was your car different than normal or not (just wondering how far back they've been doing this on the explorers)?
  20. Hurts my eyes, wouldn't mind a color change, but defintely not to this. Are there any hacks that you can make the color interactive (like we pick how we want it on our comptuers, there could be a default and a few other preset ones)?
  21. Sarcasm owns.... to bad it doesn't allways come through over the internet. What are you gona tow? You gona take your car somewhere to get it fixed? tongue.gif
  22. I thought I rememberd someone on here saying something about a ford having that before and was thinking it must be the same thing (it was a mustang in particular at the time). I 'uncliped' the longer part of it and it didn't do shit to losen up the part that was actually clamping the fuel line. redface.gif I looked at the fuel filter for about two seconds to satisify the few other peopel out there who know much less about cars than I do. I was thinking sensor or vacume leak (major if that) so I said I wasn't gona mess with it anymore and come post on here till I get some decent info, I just hate wasting the time and money throwing parts at cars. Even if it's as 'simple' as a fuel filter. Thanks for the help everyone. Before I even talked to him sunday morning he took it to that local ford dealership and parked it for them to look at it monday, had his mom drive all the way from cleveland to pick him and his girlfriend up so oh well, thanks anyways. He's gona get a ride back up whatever weekend after it's finished. What a pain in the ass, he drives it all over cleveland fine and it breaks down when he's 2.5hr's away from home.
