Horrible Deadlifts From The Crossfit Games
Trouble Maker replied to Geeesammy's topic in Pics and Vids
I get that, but at the same time the people that I know that are into it are in the best shape of their life and in better shape than 99.9%+ of the population. These aren't previously sedentary people either. The people that are honest that are into it will fully admit, and think the benefit is the community of people surrounding each other, trying to push each other to get stronger. It really seems like an overall positive community. I also see all kinds of flabby people making fun of crossfit, which is hilarious. The bigger issue I have with it is that it seems like a good, better way than most, way to get hurt working out. I get that they can be annoying and it's probably a fad, but the results I've seen are hard to deny. -
I really like that they and TJs pay their employees decently. It's not like they are getting rich, that's only $31k/year. I don't shop at Aldis but I do at TJs. Between the (sort of?) liveble wages and maybe treating their employes like humans it seems like they generally get employees who give a shit about their jobs and the customers. And from the quick bit of searching I just did the average pay at Aldis for a cashier is more like $12/hr

If you can do XBMC on firestick, can't you do it on google stick? -

Maybe I missed the part about where you were getting content from? If I'm not mistaken, to use things like Plex, XBMC, you have to have some files you already downloaded onto the 'host' PC? -

Looks amazing streaming video. Just not restreaming to the stick. -

I think I'm going to keep the Chromebook because it works great for internet, streaming video. Just not video streaming to the stick thingey. We will just hook it up directly via HDMI when we need a 'computer device' hooked up to the TV. -

I know there was a lot of text above this, but did you literally not read any of it? I've had a PC that I built hooked up to the TV for the last 3 years or so. Just got a smart TV and the ease of use and picture quality are worlds better. So I want to get rid of the box to mount the TV on the wall. But there are things you can't stream to a 'tv/mobile' device, some things on Hulu due to agreements with studios, USA, CBS. Additionally, we could use a new laptop. I've no interest in modifying, hacking any of these devices, or downloading illegal content from all over the web using tormegafatguypiratbay. I hit play on the thing and it plays. If I'm going to work that hard to do something it better be more rewarding than just watching TV. -

Yeah, going to try to move the router downstairs. Going to be a bit of a pain since the only cable connection is upstairs. Yes, but without time-shifting capability I don't see a point in watching TV. The whole point of this is to get rid of any boxes to mount the TV/soundbar on the wall. I am going to repurpose the HTPC upstairs and should install the tuner card I have. I think then I can record OTA shows on the PC and watch them on the TV via plex. There are some other studios that are clinging to too much control, USA being one of them, which we 'need' something other than smart TV or OTA to watch. -

I think when you do this, it's the stick doing the work and you're just using the PC/Phone as a sort of remote to control what the stick does. But when you do this it's the content is being displayed/streamed on the PC/Phone, recoded by the PC/Phone and re-streamed to the stick, putting some heavy lifting on the PC/Phone. If it can't do this second thing, it doesn't do 1 of the 2 things I 'need' it to do. -

So, the 'best' Chromeboke out there can't cast it's browser to a Chromecast... just making sure I follow. If so, then the system just doesn't work. -

This was set at 480p. It would have been borderline watchable if it weren't for the 'hickups' every 5 - 10... 30 seconds, the stream, both video & audio would completely stop for a fraction of a second. I will have to check the specs on the router, wife came into the relationship with it, so it's old. I've kind of been meaning to replace it, but don't want to use this as a reason to if it's not what's causing the issue. CBS is one of the big reasons I 'need' something that's a 'PC'. They are really stingy with their content, you have to watch most of it through their site. -

What do you mean by 720p source; streaming or content on your PC? I've only tried 1 stream, from CBS. It got worse as you cranked up the streaming rate (from the browser to the Chromecast), was downright unwatchable by the time you got to 720p high bit-rate. It was still bad at 480p; jittery and hickups every 5-10 seconds I was talking about before. Good idea, we can try the laptop & HTPC to see how they do. But it sounds like it's a graphics/HP issue with the Chromebook. Booo, I think I would really like this thing as a basic laptop (mostly internet) device. But if it can't also cast to the Chromecast it's kind of a moot point. I would just really hope/think that a brand new, 'higher' end piece of Android hardware should be able to do this. Edit: Same issue with HPTC, 4 year old i5-650 based PC so I would think that horse power shouldn't be a huge issue. Wifi router is old... maybe, guessing g is the highest it goes. -

That would be true if I was using the 'apps' in the Chromecast. This doesn't really offer me anything over what my smart TV can do and would still limit what I can watch due to it being a tv/mobile streaming device. I'm 'casting' my Chrome browser to the Chromecast which (from what I understand) just mirrors, streams the content in my browser window to the Chromecast. -
So, we previously/currently had a PC for streaming TV. We got a smart TV and want to get rid of the PC, but due to some content not being available we still 'need' the PC... or something else. We could also use a replacement for our laptop. My thoughts were to to do a chrome book for a laptop & Chromecast to mirror streaming TV content that we can't get on the smart TV. Got one tonight and tried to mirror some streaming TV on the Chrome browser to the Chromecast. Streaming isn't that great, jittery (looks like low frame rate) and hick-ups every 5-10 seconds. This is with a Toshiba Chrmoebook 2 (higher end spec one) which is supposed to be one of the 'faster' chromebooks too. When 'casting' the chrome browser to the Chromecase, is it via the Wifi router or via some direct private wifi network that I can't 'see'? Is this a chrome cast issue, HP in the chrome book or wifi HP (it's an older wifi router and is upstairs)? Would a newer higher HP wifi router help, or even just moving it downstairs to experiment... it's really only about 10' away through ~1.5 walls.

All skis are mounted for a 324mm boot. They are all ready to ski, but could use a fresh coat of wax. I'm going to get new skis & boots this year, so this all must go! I have a worn out pair of boots that are free to anyone who buys a set of these skis and can use them; Lange CRL90s in about a 10.5. Dynastar Trouble Makers in 175cm length with Look Pivot Jib bindings $150 OBO Great all around and fun ski. You can take these to the park, through the woods or on the groomers. These are what I take with me whenever I travel. https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098022244894871329 Dynastar Renegade 4x4 178cm in length with Look XR8.0 bindings $75 OBO Great starter-intermediate ski. https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098022106662495377 Dynastar Omecarve 10s 158cm in length w/Look Pivot 10 Demo bindings $200 OBO Demo bindings means you can set these to your boot length without needing to go into a shop and get the binding remounted. These things are like the best handling car you've ever driven in or ridden, but for the snow. A complete blast on groomed slopes. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ctGxJYE3POs/VKCG3ECWQvI/AAAAAAAAAfs/rRH2IYZL4IU/w958-h221-no/P1013939.JPG Lange WC 120 ski boots in 10.5s $200OBO A good match to the skis above, higher performance boot. I got these and before I got them fit I decided to go a different direction with my setup. These have only ever been worn to try them on when purchasing them. They never been fited, formed or skied on. https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098021726033334209 Burton Twin 44 board w/bindings, Burton work boots and an extra set of bindings. $50 OBO One of the ratchets on the current bindings doesn't work 100% correctly, but does latch fine. So they work, just a little bit of a pain to ratchet the strap down. That's why I got the new set of bindings. Not 100% sure they will work with this board since the board is Burtons old 3D (3 screw pattern) setup and new bindings are the square 4 bolt pattern setup. They are 'free' with the board setup for whoever wants this. https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098022555860413361

EMP Tek EF50T 5.1 speaker set. $500 OBO Great speaker set that will easily fill up all but the largest rooms. EMP Tek is a 'daughter' company RBH, a well know, well renowned speaker maker based out of Canada. They are a great value for the money. I used these at our old apartment but never set them back up at our house since we decided to go with a soundbar setup. If we ever do a full setup again, I will do some nice built in speakers in the walls for ascetics or I would just keep these for using them down the road. http://www.audioholics.com/tower-speaker-reviews/emp-tek-ef50-speaker-system http://emptek.com/ef50t.php https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098021154687455873 Onkyo TX-SR606 $50 OBO Something happened to the HDMI daughter board, it's a common problem. I attempted to replace a few caps per info I found online, but it didn't fix the issue for me. All non-HDMI related functions work 100%, stereo switching, video switching for non-HDMI sources. So this can be used as a receiver, amp, garage amp. https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098021665692598801 Onkyo TX-DS575 $25 OBO Something happened to the DSP chip. If you use this as a stereo switch or direct 5.1 input, it works fine. But if you try to do anything DSP related; sound modes or I think even bass management it shuts off. Amp section works 100%. So this can be used as a receiver, amp, garage amp. https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098021595216079457 Olympus PRO LX5s $50 OBO Great sounding little speaker, but can use a sub due to their size. https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098021562754451249 Speaker Stands $20 OBO Adjustable from about 24"-38". Plate the speaker sits on is 4"x4". Works great for a small speaker like a surround, I used them with the Olympus speakers https://plus.google.com/photos/115959979133200355671/albums/6098022691256666449

Chris Harris on Joe Rogan Experience #589
Trouble Maker replied to AudiOn19s's topic in Pics and Vids
Umm, layers. I have no idea if that's what they are talking about since I haven't listened yet, but that's one of the first things that comes to my mind looking at that picture. -
It looks awful, not going to bother watching it. Funny that something that's probably a mediocre kind of funny movie made such big waves. Butterflies wings and all I guess.

I don't ride, I don't think people not riding makes their opinion somehow invalid. That's just silly. People in cars have to use the roads, belong on the roads and have similar (just less) risk just like bikers do. As soon as you try to alienate an affected population out of a decision by some bunk logic, you've just lost any argument you are trying to make. I'm not sure the risk is worth the benefit with moving traffic on any road. The only benefit is, the bike gets ahead in traffic. I'm don't think there is an argument to be made there. If you don't think it's riskier to split lanes in moving traffic than stay in your own lane, you're a part of the problem of bad perceptions of bikers by people in cars. I'm a pretty attentive drive a majority of the time. But I can't think of 1 time I've been in traffic in states where it's legal, and didn't notice a bike until it had already passed me. At a stoplight with more than 1 lane, I'm pretty much all for it due to the (supposed?) reduced risk for rear endings. I say supposed because I've only heard anecdotal evidence of some studies, but it makes sense that when done properly it would be safer.
