  1. Welcome! I like the 240, and it looks exactly like a friends old 240, but he wrecked it a few years ago during a drift competition. All red is definitely an improvement on the F&F Integra wanna-be fade job. The best man in my wedding has a 1G that we used to autocross. It was a blast to drive on the street with a 16G. (EVOIII 16G, 2.3L Stroker)

  3. The news claimed that the US and China were in a race to perfect the technology and the tail rotor design is a big part of that. Obviously, China doesn't do much except build the worlds largest standing army in order to intimidate their neighbors, they're no world police.
  4. So it seems that the Blackhawk that went down during the Osama raid was not completely destroyed by the SEAL team. The tail section has been photographed pretty well intact, and it's nothing that's ever been seen before.   6. If she hit you in the pass. side there would be nothing to restrain your head and you would probably have bad whiplash. In this case the airbag did it's job to protect your head and the rash is just a minor annoyance compared to what could have been. The fact that your knees hit the dash should tell you that your 'leaning back' didn't do anything, as the impact threw your entrie body forward. Glad to hear your ok. I hate situations like this. People trying to be polite create more dangerous situations on the road.
  7. Ha, just today a guy pulled up next to me in a green and yellow crown vic with BP logo's all over it. The rims had the spokes painted green and the dish was yellow too. On the back it said brandons property ugh.... The Exelero does look a lot like Bugs Bunny, and that's an extremely over priced Merc, but I will hand it to Bridman; he's a car enthusiast and has some bad rides. If I had his money I would be doing the same thing, except I'd have a P4/5 instead.

  9. Yeah, I don't mean literally 0.25 in your pocket, but that's 0.25 cents you gtet off another item. That's why that one lady bought 114 boxes of pain killer; because she was getting paid for each, so then she got her beef for free. All the stores around me won't credit you the overage, they'll just give you the one item for free. I did that on cereal the other week. They had bulk size 50 oz bags on sale for $1.99 and I had a $1 off coupon. I only bought 5 though, not 30.
  10. You don't think that a checkout with multiple carts full of food, a camera crew, and a stack of coupons will naturally attract attention? These people can take an hour to check out. Most of the people standing around are employee's/managers of the store. The BS part of this is that to get to these people's level you need to have a grocery store that will credit back any overage from the coupon (0.75 item, $1 coupon = 0.25 credit). No stores around here, at least around me, will do that. It's also about finding a store that has their own promotions that can be combined with manufacturer coupons, and even better if they allow that while giving double coupons. Since the time when my wife was laid off, we've tried to coupon as much as we can. Sure, you won't get rich but you can usually save ~40% on your order.
  11. Because the Caddy SRX is base FWD. Plus, they sold a 2.8L turbo V6 model as the performance option and something like 98% of buyers opted for the slow as ballz 3.0L. Now the 2.8T was canned and has been replaced with the 3.6L.
  12. i agree with the Jeep SRT comments. It just looks too much like a Compass. But it should perform well. After driving a couple 6.4L cars, I can attest that it feels more like a 500 hp engine, and some chassis dyno's have agreed. The new 300C interior is a lot nicer too.

  14. The Nitro is probably one of the worst cars ever made. I absolutely hate driving that car. The Patriot isn't bad as a daily. I wouldn't classify it as 'fun' unless you have an AWD in a big snow storm. They have mild off-road capability, but their really good in snow. The CVT kinda sucks, but the 5 speed isn't too much better. I drove an AWD Compass one winter for probably about 12k miles and it was a good winter daily with AWD/CVT/'leather'/heated seats/My Gig, but over priced when new. To the commenter that said 'get the Compass, it's Trail Rated,' so is the Patriot. Both cars have the same interior too.
  15. Obviously the Fiero will not be coming back in name since Pontiac isn't making cars anymore, although GM left to door open to bring certain cars out under the Pontiac name. But there is a very slim chance it could come back in spirit. The only way it's going to come back is if a group of engineers under take the project on their own and sell management on the idea. The Fiero was a parts bin car with a unique steel space frame and fiberglass body panels. It used off the shelf engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, and probably much more. I think it would be extremely fun to create a compact mid-engine sports car from the GM parts bin by basically taking all the components off a Regal GS, but in today's world it's not that easy. Today's safety standards have made it increasingly more involved to bring a vehicle to market. Even if a determined group of individuals designed the entire vehicle, there is a huge expense that goes into developing airbags, stability control, traction control, etc. that is unique to each vehicle. Because of this, I would say something like this coming back is VERY slim. But possible.

As far as, "comparing a car that was made to compete to an engine made to commute," since the OP said he was only looking for a 4 cylinder engine to put into a RWD project, the platform doesn't matter. Sure the EVO is a hell of a car, but it's built from a commuter car. GM has never put a turbo Ecotec into an AWD platform, so I'm not trying to compare and EVO to a Cobalt, I'm simply offereing up an option that would meet the OP's goals. The Ecotec has been around for a long time and finding cheap parts for it should be no issue (Saab 9-3, Cobalt, G5, Ion, Malibu, Equinox, Aura, Sky, Solstice, G6, Regal, etc. etc.). You have plenty of tuning capability with HPTuners, it can bolt to a number of transmissions, and it's proven that it can put out good power while being reliable. There are 450 whp 2.0L car's with just bolt-on's and a reflash. There are 2.4L car's (stock 177 hp) that have been driven hard with over 400 HP for over 20k miles. The Formula Drift cars (aside from Rhys Millen's late version of the Solstice) are stock engine's with forged pistons and have proven themselves. So I stand by my comments that the Ecotec could be a good option for the OP. Plenty of people were offering up the 4G63 as an option. I threw out a different option. Commuter car? Don't people take the crankshaft out of the Eagle Summit to build 2.3L stroker motors? hpfiend - What is this engine going into? Good luck.
  17. Just because they used it, doesn't mean it's required to reach the power level he's looking for. Yes, GM used a billet crank in the 1000-1200 HP drag cars, among other things, but there are quite a range of interchangeable parts out there so you can build the Ecotec how you want (much like a 4g63). The 2.0L's are square (86 mm x 86 mm) and should be happy to rev high. You can find factory forged cranks, you could bore and stroke it with factory parts to 2.1, 2.2, 2.4L. The drawbacks are you would want to sleeve it for a high power build and aftermarket cams are hard to come by.
  18. It's the same transmission that's in the Colorado pickup, and the input shaft is the same as the LSx (AFAIK from my time working at the place that made the LS1 and Solstice clutch/disc). Mallet V8 Solstice's used a stock trans. In one case, a Supra engine has found it's way into a Solstice. It's still a work in progress though.
  19. Some of the Solstice LSx V8 upgrades have retained the stock transmission, which means it's either the same bolt pattern as the Ecotec, or the bell housing can be changed. The GM Ecotec build book has a CAD drawing of the bell housing bolt pattern.
  20. What about a GM Ecotec? There are bolt-on cars putting out 450-500 HP with the stock fuel system (the 2.0L DI engines). The high powered cars are building 2.4L blocks and adding a secondary fuel rail (port injection + direct injection). A 4G63 might be cheaper to build due to all the used parts out there, but then again the Ecotec's been around for a long time as well, so blocks, heads, etc. should be easy to pick up at a junkyard.
  21. To me the M3 is kind of...meh... It's styling doesn't get me overly excited (which is surprising because I like the 335i), it's performance is good, but everyone will think you're a prick. I park near one everyday at work, and at first I would glance at it but it didn't take long until I found it looking a bit bland. You've said through 10 pages that you just really love the Z06, yet everyone just keeps throwing out other cars that THEY think you should want more. But you don't. Go drive them all, but it sounds like you've got your mind made up. My to drive list would be: C6 Z06, 911 Turbo, Mustang BOSS 302, GTR. I bring up the BOSS again because it seems like you have an affinity for loud muscle cars that can handle well. Something with soul.
  22. Yeah, this could have been really bad. They were talking about this on the radio and some people that work at places like Applebee's pointed out that when the bartender makes mixed drinks and has a little left over they will often pour it into a samller cup instead of pouring it down the drain. Also, a lot of bartenders will make drinks for the waiter's and put them in sippy cups so the manager can't see what they are drinking. Either of these could have resulted in the wrong cup being served to this child. Only in Detroit.
  23. Looks like it started as 2011MY option for any the Z06 Vette. This is a factory option (code CFZ), not aftermarket. http://www.c6registry.com/Facts/2011Pricing.htm I thought it was available on any trim level, but apparently I was wrong.
  24. The Z06 CARBON is $98k, but you can add the carbon fiber aero kit to any trim Vette.
