All springs want to rotate when compressed. That's why nice racing suspensions put Torrington bearings between the spring and the perch; it allows them to freely rotate and prevents them from binding.

I found my T-Type that was stolen in 2003 today... pics, story, etc

Damn, that sucks. -
The guy's lucky he had a cage. That "safety crew" sucks serious balls.

make sure the duct work isn't clogged with lint.

IMO, if KaTech says don't do it, I would listen. Then again, I want a reliable engine that makes power.

break.com has it with better quality and not bleeped. http://www.break.com/index/snl_a_special_christmas_box.html

Those guys are idiots. A) The "poor latch design" that caused them to bend the hook several times requires you to leave the latch open when putting the top down. If you re-lock the latch handle when putting it down you can bend the hook. Who's dumb enough to lock it when putting it in the trunk? They even explain this to you when picking the car up. B) These guys obviously used the car as a fleet vehicle to go to and from work in. That's not the intent of the car. When you buy a sports car, esp. a roadster, you buy it for the performance and fun, not to be practical. The same goes for what they think is a "harsh ride." The Sky has slightly different shock tuning then a Sol, but my car bumps exceptionally well. I would put the ride equal with my stock Mazdaspeed Protege. A performance car is not ment to ride like a Buick. C) Lack of storage space?! See the rant above. You're not going to fit a large suit case in the trunk, but you can fit a lot of stuff in smaller bags. I fit a lot of stuff in it when I go to Columbus, and I dont even have the special fitted luggage. http://www.kappasphere.com/products/lifestyle/fitted_luggage/ D) Squeaks and rattles - I don't have any. The chassis is incredibly strong, it's the same construction as the Vette, the body panals are not load bearing, there is a hydroformed steel space frame. This adds more weight then a Miata, but the structure is incredibly rigid and no torsional rigidity is lost by removing the top. IMO, I expect my car to have less noises in the future then a Miata because the body's not constantly twisting. E) Interior fit and appearance - The Sky has a much nicer interior, one of the main reasons I bought it over the Sol. The Sol was created to meet a price point with good on track performance. The Sky is more polished because of the higher sticker. F) Engine - The 2.4L engine is noisy. The Redline is a different engine. G) They're idiots for paying over sticker.

Our track in the UP got rain on Mon/Tues and there is nothing left. Good thing too! I'm still doing high mu development!

I had a friend ride in my car that has been in a few S2000's and he liked my interior better. He thought he had more room and liked the look of the dash better. Personally I like the S2000 seats, but mine aren't bad either. Also, S2000's tend to break rear differentials at a certain power level. So far the Sky has shown no weak driveline piece, but the diffs from a CTS-V and STS-V are a direct bolt in swap.

Also to add, the ticking noise is normal and due to the engine being direct injection. The noise is from the pump and injectors. Almost sounds like a quiet diesel at idle. Some guys with GXP's claim they can't notice it after the car warms up...I have my doubts. But there is nothing wrong with the car because of this noise.

I can do winter testing and still be within the state of Michigan, instead of my company sending me to f-ing Minnisota.

Read the bottom of this page -> ECOTEC Add to that, the entire fuel system (pump, injectors, rail), ECU, all the engine calibration, and sensorics assiciated with the engine was all done at Bosch, just outside Detroit. Anthony - 12's with reliability and a factory warrenty is not possible at this time. The only alternative is the aftermarket, and that can be risky to your warrenty. There are a few people doing LSx conversions, V8 Archie, Werks Performance, Mallett... I will possibly be driving it home over Christmas if you want to try fitment. OBGYN - The head, intake/exhaust manifold, fuel system, rods, pistons, and possibly some machining on the block (oil squirters) are all different from the Cobalt engine. The block starts in the factory the same as any other Gen II Ecotec though. snredrum - That "problem" only exists if the doors are partially open (i believe) and I've never heard of a problem on the way up, it's when closing. I have closed my hood with the doors open with no problem, but they were all the way open.

No it is not a Saab 9-3 engine, and OBGYN, there is currently no such thing as a turbo Coblat. The engine is all new, it's a direct injection 2.0L turbo putting out a rated 260HP/260 ft-lbs. The torque curve is completely flat from 2000 rpm to redline. The redline on the engine is 6200rpm, which is where you make peak power. A friend of mine drove one and he said the acceleration was lackluster. He thought that when it finally started to pull it was time to shift. Although, he has a 400 HP DSM as his daily, and people on the forums seem to think they're the fastet thing on the road. They are barely mod-able at this point. A cat back exhaust yielded them a 20 WHP gain. But larger injectors are not avalable, and they are somewhat maxed out from the factory. There is a set of cams coming out that modifies the fuel pump function, but I am leary of these. The pump was not ment to run that fast. I've heard some "rumors" though, and if you want the factory turbo that's more mod-able, then you'll want to wait a year or two. Or, you could buy a base Sky and put an aftermarket turbo kit on it, possibly build a motor in the process if you want more power then the Redline will give you. There are a few aftermarket turbo kits for the car, including one from a company that I am part owner in. I'm sure JP will chime in too, Shearer Fab is working on a kit as well. Anthony, I have a pretty good knowledge of the car. Ask me anything and I'll answer what I'm allowed to.

Actually, most of the time when I pull up behind a car in the left lane they move over. In Ohio they just sit there oblivious. Space Ghost - You're lucky you didn't get nabbed by any of the unmarked Camaro's or Impala SS's they have up here. Some of them even have tint on the windows. Anthony - The only thing in Midland is Dow Chemical and a bunch of hicks. Doug - Try 696 at rush our.
-
The faster you drive, the smoother the bumps feel. Anthony, US 23 just had a major resurfacing project finish, and I-75 North of the Flint area isn't bad (75 and 23 are the same road at that point.) The worst is I-75 between Toledo and Detriot. All the roads in downtown Detroit are shitty. pdqgp - You'll see everything up here before it's out due to all the manufacturers having captured fleets running around at pre-production time.

Then what's Audi motor + 2 Potato's + tune = ?

I had one on my Mazda. It worked like a charm. I wish I hadn't sold it with the car.

You could always just build your own... http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/mallard1055/photo112106003sy3.jpg It's NOT mine, it's my friends...and he's slowly getting it back together. It's not a new one, it's a V6TT. A new one pulled up next to me on the freeway a few week ago. It's nice. I like.

That car will run ~9 sec 1/4's, pull ~3-4g's laterally, and 5 g's under braking. Who cares about torque?
-
Is everythig wired correctly? I have a friend with an RB20 in his 240...not sure if I'll be of much help though. There should be a lot more help on the 240 boards.

Joined when I was a freshman in college. I'm on my fourth car since joining, graduated college, moved to Detroit to work in the auto industry. Doug, I just got back from Alaska this week...we'll have to try and meet up sometime. You've lived here over a month and I still haven't seen you once! (probably mostly my fault)

Good luck. I did the Challenge in 2005. There are a lot of nice cars there.

That's also because you (and I for that matter) are only a few miles from Chrysler Headquarters. They gave the Auburn Hills PD a shit load of cars last year. All the automakers do that to their local PD. In Dearborn you will see all Fords, around Milford you'll see mostly GM patrol cars.

The Chargers have been out for quite some time. The Auburn Hills, MI police have been using Magnums and Chargers for over a year. IMO, they're better then the Crown Vic in every way, and that lines up with the feedback I've heard from the police.
