  1. Most patrol Chargers sold are 3.5L V6's. Still cooler then a Crown Vic.
  2. Actually no. The Mallet only weighs about 150lbs more then the stock car, and the weight distribution is barely shifted. Suprisingly, the Mallet Solstice weighs less then the GXP Solstice, according to magazine rated curb weights. Nate - Not exactly, but very helpful.
  3. Why not? The stock Solstice already kicked the shit out of the Miata in SCCA club racing nationals and in SCCA autocross nationals. p.s. Nate- thanks for the message. I've been checking up on that a few times a week. Glad it's finally here.
  4. The Goodyear RSA's are decent in the snow. Keep in mind that all the TCS and ESC development goes on with stock tires. I think you'll be fine, especially with the type of snow Columbus gets.
  5. If you're looking for a Cherokee that's good on gas, wait for the Diesel to come out over here.
  6. Driven quite a few of them at work and I think they're great. Hell of a lot of fun too drive, just not good on gas and rear seat passangers may find the ride a little stiff.
  7. The new ones are, and those are quite a bit out of his price range. The ones before the new body style have really soft suspension, ok power, and the steering ratio is extremely slow (I hated the steering on the previous body Avalon ~2000-2006). Price of repair depends on how much you drive and what went wrong with the vehicle. The 2000 Avalon with the JLB system has a tendency to turn up and down by intself (not speed sensitive). Every component was changed and it was never fixed. They also wanted to replace the cats for the last 2 years for $1200. The new one seems good so far. At least I liked how it drove and it's comfortable.
  8. HHR? I know a lot of people rip on them, but they're actually pretty good drivers and you can put a lot of stuff in them.
  9. The Mazda 3 and 6 are both good cars. As much as it pains me to say it, I don't think you could go wrong with a Ford Fusion as well. I'm a big fan of the G35.
  10. No, but thanks for the offer. My business partner will be there, and his car will be in the Hotchkis booth.
  11. I was supposed to be, but I'm getting sent to Alaska so now I can't get that time off! ARGGGH!!!
  12. I actually had better luck going through the dealer...they called around to different banks and found me the best rate. My personal bank would only give me a flat rate, and it sucked big time. With no credit record you may have a hard time finding a decent rate, unless you buy from a dealer and they're offereing 0%. Another option is doing one of those leases where you pay everything up front. A co-worker got a quad cab 4WD Dodge Dakota on a 2 year lease for ~$2500.
  13. There are a few S4's in the Corral for that price.
  14. Arby's Market Fresh Sandwhiches Wendy's has salads Subway can sometimes be healthy... Pasta at the work cafeteria Chicken dinner I'm wierd though, I eat a lot of food at lunch but not much of anything at dinner time.
  15. Wow, I just saw this thread. Congrats! If you need any advice as to where to live or where to go on a wekened let me know. A friend of mine is having a house warming party in Farmington next weekend. Give me a call and I'll take you along. You'll get to meet some other car guys and I'll show you the progress we've (or more like my friends) have made on Fedor's drift car. PM sent.
  16. That is an entirely incorrect statement by all accounts of his cause of death. There have been CART and IRL crashes that have logged over 100g's at impact, and the driver has either walked away or survived after recovery. Rally cars (which are more like NASCAR's in their construction) have incredibly hard impacts with odd shaped objects and routinely walk away. Sometimes they don't, but that's because intrution into the safety cage, not injuries due to deceleration. The cause of Earnhardt's death on multiple investigations has been listed as basilar skull fracture caused by his head not being restrained. Your body stops moving and your head is still going 180mph, so it snaps with such a force that the base of your skull fractures from your neck. A HANS device is worn to prevent this type of injury. There was contention that the seat belt tearing allowed his head to contact the steering wheel, causing his death. But an investigation found that even if his head didn't contact the steering wheel he would have died. Also know that his lap belt tore because of improper installation. Dale thought the belts are uncomfortable so he had the crew modify their mounting. There's plenty of equipment that would have saved his life.
  17. There are many reasons why Dale Sr died in his accident. NASCAR's are A LOT safer now then they were in 2000-2001, mostly due to his death. Now NASCAR does not leave safety regulation up to the individual team.
  18. Yeah, I saw it live too. It's amazing that she walked away. That's a true testament to the safety of the CART car.

Isn't this the old Passen? Somehow I'm not suprised at the service you recieved.
  21. Actually the week of the Woodward Dream Cruise my friend was on 96/696 and was passed at a high rate of speed by a C6 Z06 and a Ford GT racing. He caught up to them at a gas station and the GT was twin turbo...the one from the Hefners (sp?)Performance in FL. evan - The roads up here suck pretty bad. I would not attempt what he did, but they do smooth out the faster you drive. You miss all the low spots
  22. that was from the Bullrun this year. The guy driving the GT is Camillo Pard, the designer of the GT and in charge of the Ford design studio now, if I'm not mistaken. He's also a great artist and general badass.

    What do you do?

I'm a Vehicle Test Engineer, I tune Electronic Stability Control systems.
  24. In cases like this the drivers are usually charged with man slaughter. Just something else to think about if you choose to street race. I've been impressed with how the F-boy's hold up in a crash. My freshman year of college 3 students were in a WS6 Trans Am that hit a tree and rolled several times going around 90 mph. The driver was killed because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. The 2 passengers were in the hospotal for a while, but lived...and the tree hit the passenger side.
