  1. +1 I was a little unsettled as well when I noticed this...
  2. I have the nt05s on my z06. They hook really well above 60 degrees F. I have about 7K miles on them so far so I can't tell you how long they will last- I will say they don't come with much tread to begin with- The invos aren't as sticky and don't have the sidewall stifness and provide sloppy handling in comparison but they do last longer. everyone says the nt05s are terrible in the rain- I have driven them in hard rain and haven't had a problem but they are still pretty new and I am very careful in the rain.
  3. this reminds me of that big wheels commercial where those kids did awesome 180 degree turns by pulling up the "emergency brake"- anyone else feel frustrated as a kid after trying that on yours? Ford should stand behind it but I am not surprised they are not. I question the durability now of all ford trucks- my dad is switching to a 4runner now that they have turned the explorer into an oversized edge/escape.
  4. oops double post- who's the newbie ;-)
  5. nice car! Are those seats factory? They look really nice.
  6. Have you had it to the track yet? If so what does it run now? ==That doesn't sound like a small cam to me if those specs are advertised at 0.050. That's good is not a daily and does change perspective a bit. Is Ed Curtis at FTI still around? There was a comp cams grind everyone and their brother had back in the day- would hardly idle but made good power- there was a guy with 1 3/4" headers, blueprinted LT1 maybe .030 over, this comp cams grind, 4.10s with a 6 speed, and a 58mm tb IIRC, and it ran 12.0s I am pretty sure his heads were stock. Chris Marsh was his name if you can find anything on it- he was a hell of a driver though and kind of the exception- his car was a 93 and speed density also IIRC Guys with the LT4 Hot kit, cam, roller rockers, timing set and Lt4 knock module IIRC on LT1 heads were running 12.7s...
  7. Thanks guys- Advance auto says they have the ability to check current... I do not know the specs on the alternator- the previous owner put it on there- I do know it is chrome and says hitachi on it and the only one I can find so far like that is 100 amps. The model number is worn off. Hence why I want to know what it is putting out and where- ours does not put out enough at 3000 rpm. The flexalite fans have a circuit breaker so if they were pulling more than they should they would trip their breaker I would surmise unless the breaker is faulty... We just redid all of the relevant grounds and cranking system with 1 gauge wire and solid connections. There are others to do for gauges and such as the previous owner wasn't that careful but as far as starting and recharging we should be good there... Thanks! Where did you get the 300 amp alternator at 2K rpm?
  8. but it makes such a nice place to brace the pinion nut against to torque it correctly without good air tools! I forgot about sfc-s if you dont at least have those def get them now- especially with a ttop car. To the OP have you ever personally had a stock displacement built N/A setup? If you are dead-set on NA I would save for a forged stroker setup. What are your goals- if you want to go about 3 tenths faster and spend all your money to get poor gas mileage, lose driveability, and have a time bomb for a clutch and rear by all means go for it. And if those gains aren't enough what is the next step- bigger cam for even less driveability/mileage and maybe half a second if you are lucky- oh now the heads aren't big enough- cha ching you are out another 2 grand and you hate the car now because it can barely pull away from a stop light without slipping the clutch, gets about 10-12 mpg and is dead worthless below 3500 rpm where you drive daily anyhow. Do they still make the 211/219 or 219/219 .525 lift cams from lingenfelter? That's about the only one that made sense to me with my f-body what are the specs on this le2? There is a reason they say there is no replacement for displacement forced or natural. If you don't want to get serious fast spend the money on dates/entertainment as mentioned before or /stereo/appearance/or mild suspension work swaybars, shocks, panhard bar, lcas- if you dont get carried away lowering it those things will pay you back every day without major compromise. I know it is a high compression hypereutenic setup- lots of guys put boost to them- don't get crazy with the boost and get a good tune and it wont detonate. Hell you probably have 2 tenths lost and daily sogginess in false knock already add that noisy valvetrain and enjoy it! oh yeah I almost forgot- if you dont have a decent beater I'd put that 3 grand to that before all else- it took me all too long to realize it wasn't worth modifying my daily driver anymore... I like the tools idea- I'd get that cheap diversion tig welder and a budget plasma cutter if I wanted to waste 3 grand. Laters, Andrew
  9. Hey all- Does anyone have a clamp on ammeter I can borrow/rent for DC? Our project car puts out enough to maintain 14+ volts at idle but once we kick on the electric fans it drops it to battery voltage even up to 3000 rpm. Have not tried with headlights and fans yet. We checked at battery and at the alternator and they were the same which is surprising because the battery is in the back. It is a hitachi chrome 100 amp one wire setup but we don't know if it is still putting out 100 amps and at what rpm... Thanks! Andrew
  10. If it were mine I would put that cash into a 12 bolt or 9" and a 3.73 or 4.10 rear depending if you are auto or stick. If you shop right you could probably fit a driveshaft loop and clutch in there as well... I broke mine twice in 70K miles- and the first time wasn't even on sticky tires.... I then would start saving for a vortech/procharger or turbo setup. I've been down the the full exhaust, h/c/i spray route and I would only do the heads again... I am also not even that big a fan of headers unless they are VERY well built and high quality ceramic coated and that means $$$$... otherwise they just cause more problems than they are worth... the factory does not put them on for more reasons than cost...before all the haters chime thats imho.
  11. we watched the first 5 seasons of weeds on there...
  12. 25 TTT Perfect for all you pole dancers out there
  13. I am thinking about cancelling- to their credit they had to make an increase as they had to decrease demand as they cannot keep up with the stream load. Just not that big of one imo
  14. Hey all- Can anyone tell me in layman's terms the difference between these two boxes? so far I can tell the LM-1 doesn't have rpm input unless I add an LMA-2 and inductive pickup (130.00) but I think I can add a map to that as well? I can get the LM-1 used pretty cheaply- the LM-2s are hard to find so far on the used market. Also the LM-2 seems to have a lot of bugs while the LM-1 was more reliable? Looking to tune a carburetted small block chevy- I could go with an LC-1 and ssi-4 plus a map sensor but would have to have the laptop in the car which really isn't that big a deal to me... Lm-3 is neat but too expensive for my needs I think. I have an MSD 6AL and a Monster tach isn't there a way to log rpm out of either of these? Thanks, Andrew
  15. comparing to LM-2 currently
  16. I don't know about trails currently as I stopped going there after I found out about MCIR but last time I was there on a friday it took about 2 hours of waiting per run.
  17. hmm- it's a jegs built performance turbo hydromatic 350 with manual valve body and hurst quarter stick shifter, no transbrake behind a 355 sbc with oil cooler when running.
  18. Are there any problems flat towing an automatic rwd car in neutral with driveshaft attached with a tow bar??
  19. Thanks for sharing. That guy is tough as hell! He put a .45 caliber round through most of his leg and calmly set the gun on the ground and walked away. Makes you wonder- If you don't hit a vital (chest/head) that perp is going to keep coming- even with the "ballistic" shock of a .45 acp. I say props to that guy- that's embarassing and painful- #@Q% happens. Sure military and cops or those that think they are military or cops are probably less likely to have events like this happen with guns but there are a lot of "normal" people out there with them as well. Do you guys carry chambered? If I had a holster I don't think I would?
  20. In my experience a lot of f-body owners exaggerate their car's performance. The mustang group not as much, the corvette group I have yet to tell but some guys on corvette forum are running some hard to believe times on "stock" c5 z06's Ever since the fourth-gen came out there have been 12 and low 13s claims with minimal mods (that was fast back then). Then at the annual gatherings they all ran 14s high 13s and blamed it on the weather/traction/false knock you name it.
  21. Do you have a wife/gf/partner? See if they can watch the kids and invest in some home gym equipment?
