  1. The reason people now buy acura and lexus over MB is the same reason on a larger scale that honda and toyota out sell gm- too many problems. An acura drives like a german car fwiw imho. Lexus cars do not- short of the ISF. Which is why we bought an RL over the GS. Thread jack /over.
  2. I wont post it but I will definitely PM.
  3. trust me- it will cost you to not drive.
  4. I will leave it said that you would be better if you were to go to Lindsay Acura... Its worth the drive and I live in Dublin. Cindy (who used to work at Columbus Acura FWIW) is who I would deal with. If you have your car worked on Craig (SinisterSS) on here is top notch as is Wyan and Matt in the service department. My parents have an 07 MDX My wife had an 04 RSX-S before kids She currently drives an 08 RL
  5. oops my bad- I searched patrese and wife and nothing came up...
  6. hehe I don't know if he was referring to paint stripper or human strippers...
  7. I would be interested in the SAE/ME stuff if reasonable- I am not a ME but always think I should have been... please pm me... I also like the sound of ICE fundamentals if it is ME level.. EDIT: first response was greedy and it being Christmas and all ;-)
  8. +1- you should also wear hearing protection...I didn't in the past... I had mine checked as we met our deductible this year having my son so I figured why not- I had a sharp dip around 4K hz the same frequency power tools/loud engines/firearms targets... I bought 4 quality ear muffs promptly after that for my two kids and wife- too late for me but might as well not do more damage
  9. Drill and a sawzall? Plasma cutter? Air Nibbler? We cut the hood on the gremlin with this gadget my dad bought at a car show called a big dog biter which is a nibbler that fits on the end of a drill...
  10. I am surprised they didn't tell you that they cannot fix that issue as it is over the speed limit and they would have to break the law to experience it... that is what they told me after they did a wheel balance soo sloppy my 2 year old could have matched it. They also told me it was all ready to go after having the car 10 hours and I come to find they didn't fix a single thing but order the front license plate bracket- I fixed some of the issues myself and then took it to the dealer for the rest.Vibration turned out being a faulty torque converter which ended up causing a transmission leak because of a shoddy reinstallation of the transmission which craig (sinisterss) on here fixed for me at his dealership.
  11. I always preferred to read motortrend to car and driver and road and track... I had a subscription to grassroots motorsports for a while which I enjoyed- but I now have popular mechanics but I don't have time to read any of them anymore with 2 kids
  12. I like blackwing shooting center- will check out this aimhi place though.
  13. found this: http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18890 may end up doing it myself after all...
  14. ok modern hemi has the same firing order and numbering of the old chevy 1-8-4-3-6-7-2 and a stroke of 3.5 so that means the firing order has very little to do with it and it is more a result of a mid mounted chambered muffler with a crossover pipe and long tailpipes on a true dual setup. quick rpm rise is the nature of a 3" stroke?? Anyone still following?
  15. wow- you are right- if they had a 3" stroke I bet they would sound even closer- now I need to look at that firing order and stroke length... thanks! here is an ls1 with flowmaster 40s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5KKaJs4YBU- but its also not true duals like those challengers and the mustang... wonder if there is an ls1 vette with flowmasters... or a trual dual converted camaro- actually aj your 69 camaro with flowmasters should sound similar? c5 with flowmaster 80s- not close... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uZyahKRtP0 but Listen to this gto with flowmaster 40s after looking at the exhaust designs of the mustang, gto, and challenger they have an h- or x-pipe with intermediate mufflers with "long" tailpipes or pipes to resonators or exhaust tips..the corvette and camaro have very short tailpipes... hmm I need to find my videos of dumped flowmasters... not mine but the mustang sound is diminished... I do remember liking mine better with tailpipes on but they wouldn't fit with the slicks and they were a hassle to take on and off...
  16. You make a very good point but I think the firing orders are the same- the numbering is different but the same cylinders are firing- ford is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 and if you transpose that pattern to the chevy numbering you get 2-6-5-4-3-1-8-7 which is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 which is the published firing order of the LS1- is that right? someone check me...
  17. everyone has to start somewhere- I think hydundai has had some help to come out of nowhere so fast but you have to give credit where credit is due. the ford model T was a royal pile but look at the new ecoboost awd taurus sho- - the first corvette with its inline 6 was a laughing stock of the automotive world- don't know any brand that is laughing at the z06/zr1.
  18. I dunno about sounding nothing alike you must have better ears than me- one of my good friends in highschool had a 97 cobra and it sounded very similar to my 90 coupe even after I put headers/supercharger/h/c/i etc... my dad's 4.6 explorer on throttle sounds a lot liek a mustang and I have heard several new edge 99 plus mustangs that sound like a mustang- even the 03 cobras do if you can hear over the blower whine...never heard a 5.4 that I recall...
  19. Why does the mustang sound like an angry dog under water, in a cave, or just plain different? A 3" stroke v8 chevy 283 does not sound the same- Have heard an LT1 camaro with flowmaster mufflers and while it sort of resonated similarly it def did not sound like a mustang. Is it the two-piece intake manifold? Doesn't the 4.6 have a plastic one piece? I think my dad's explorer does- does a carb 5.0 not have that sound? Someone told me it was the firing order but later I heard that the LS1 has the same firing order? My c5z has an h-pipe and true duals...not mustang like at all- Are the ford and chevy cylinder heads that different? I have heard 4 valve aluminum, 2v, 3v, twisted wedge big valve, and stock e7s and they all sound similar enough... That's all I know- looking for more input.
