Nice- they finally got the union to bend over.

Hey guys/gals... anyone know where to get one of those shaker cups to mix up powder mix drinks? Stirring does not work and I hate firing up the blender every day. I am thinking GNC may? Thanks, Andrew

In this economy and the condition of that car 500.00 would be a gift and I personally would pass on it. There are complete hatchback 87-93 5.0 HO EFI cars that run well with straight bodies for 1000.00 or less right now. I had someone offer me 1,800.00 for my high 11 second 25th anniversary 5.0 factory forged coupe with trickflow h/c/i, supercharger, dynotune by LaSota, fresh t5z, and a built 31 spline rear, oh did I mention it was straight, frame tied and battle box reinforced?

Now this is the first accurate piece of information I have read in this thread....

fwhp = flywheel horsepower and that is how they are equipped bone stock. What motor mounts are you putting in to fix the wheel hop? And are you changing the transaxle mount bushings to match?

I call BS. But for technical-content. The RSX-S is actually a quality-built car that is surprisingly fun. It is good in the snow, twisty roads, and decent at rolling acceleration. At 6-8K RPM it actually feels like a mild v8. But with that said, my wife's is bone stock and it has torque steer so badly with just 200 fwhp it blows for hard acceleration-not to mention the drivetrain crushing wheelhop that makes quick shifting russian roulette. It is actually a nice handling car however and we had a lot of fun with it at the autox school- If this is legit I would like to see it in action but I have my doubts like the rest of you.

I had the same decision in front of me a while back- I was between the E46 M3, C5 Z06, C6 Z51, and 03-04 Cobra. I already had a 90 5.0 coupe with a blower and h/c/i that ran high 11s and consistent low 12s that I daily drove for four years. I got sick of its rawness however so was leaning away from the cobra as it was built on the same 1979 platform and was still pretty raw in comparison to the other cars and could never handle equally well short of making it a oregon trail riding race car. I have the privilege of driving whatever car I want on a short "test" track. and I drove an E46 M3 neat idle sound, very nice interior, very civilized, muscular looking but soft at the same time- it is a sweet car but not the same performer as a c5 z06. The c6 Z51 I never drove, but my dad got an 08 LS3 c6 and it was not raw enough- it is faster but feels so much more refined until you give it hell it feels slower. And I really prefer the fixed roof/trunk body style. I drive my 03 Z which I bought as a single owner car with 12,300 miles every day there isn't snow or salt on the ground and I fall back in love with it every time I get in it. I could drive it in the salt as well but I dont see the point as my 120K mile 4wd explorer does it much better Someday I may get a E46 m3 but if I were to go german I think I would rather have a porsche 951 with an upgraded turbo or a modified 79-90 930 for a track car or for a daily a 95-97 twin turbo awd 996- but I would never sell the z06 for one of those cars- My dad had a 67 vette and then two 914s, a 924, and a factory wide body cab 911 before going back to corvettes. I think it really comes down to how badly you need a back seat and what kind of performance level you desire. The z06 does not have the ride quality of the m3 so for 4-5 hour drives you may prefer the m3 or c6 corvette. When I first got my zo6 I thought I was going to puke as I went over expansion strips on the freeway at a rhythmic pace- but I hadn't eaten all day and I have since gotten accustomed to it. BTW to all the closet wealth haters- who cares where he gets his money...he didn't ask how he could afford either he asked a performance oriented automotive group for a comparison of the cars.

Hey all, I bought a 1999 XLT explorer a while back to use to haul stuff and for winter duty. It has a little grey box with a short antenna coming out of it at the upper left corner of the windshield and I dont think it is factory. I think it may be a remote start and I was thinking if I could find the right remote control I would be able to use it... any advice? Thanks! Andrew

hpfiend replied to DaddyBuiltRacing's topic in Passing Lane
Thanks for the great writeup! I was going to do something like this to my low boost mustang before I sold it. -
oh- if anyone has one extra one of these I need one as well for a spare tire for my explorer.. 15" or larger would probably work.

It has two 17 Watt fluorescent bulbs in it so I would say it is a 34 Watt.

I will check

We have more than enough expertise to solve this problem on the forum.. If you would just reply to questions asked and provide enough information- we do not have psychic powers.

good question!

Sounds like you have more than one problem- Either you have a major short or you have a bad connection at your battery cables to the battery for the drain issue and dim dome light. Is this a very high compression engine? As far as the distributor being off 180 I mean to say that you may have installed the distributor 180 degrees opposite to how it should be installed. IE rather than firing at top dead center on the compression stroke it is firing on the exhaust stroke. If you are not ultra careful it is really easy to do especially if you lost track of where you were when you were adjusting valve lash or had to move the car in gear to install a belt or something. I had done it more than once since then I came up with a system to insure it doesn't happen again as it is frustrating. I am assuming this is a 302 H.O. firing order engine that has been stroked to a 331? Installed in a fox body mustang? How did you verify it was getting fuel? Are the plugs soaked with fuel after it cranks? or have you taken out a plug and felt/smelled fuel when cranking? How was the mixture set to accomodate the larger injectors and I am assuming different/calibrated MAF? Also if you can't get it to start how do you know there aren't any vacuum leaks? When was the last time it ran? What have you changed since it ran? How did you maintain the ignition timing?

distributor off 180??... give us some background on the engine, whats it in, what you have done to it since you got it, etc and we may be able to help more.

We are also looking for a digital SLR can the xsi rebel shoot video as well? My point and shoot have always done decently for me and I would figure with a quality lens and a big memory card it would be even better. I am not trying to go pro- just document some family videos that are bearable to watch. I guess I consider myself a canon guy over nikon- I had a 3.2 mp Canon Elph and I absolutely loved the camera function and picture quality until I dropped it. I then got a Nikon coolpix 3700 and it was a piece of @!#% in comparison- nowhere near the picture quality and very cheap/non intuitive controls in my opinion. I hate the nikon. Thanks, Andrew

oh my ;-) we will separate. I was in a hurry when I listed everything. If there is anything in either thread anyone is remotely interested in make me an offer- odds are I will take it as we just want the stuff gone!
