I would say the biggest reason for low rpm and low hp at high rpm is because of the inertia. Diesel cranks have much more inertia than say gas engine of similiar size. The counterweights on the diesel crank are much wider and span a larger angle. Think about tractor pull motors, they are looking for maximum sustaining torque. They don't have to worry about the time to accelerate the engine. They can spend all day getting the engine up to speed before they make a pull. Distance, not time, is important. Higher inertia is harder to accelerate but at the same time, harder to decelerate once up to speed (M=I*alpha, M = Torque, I = inertia, alpha = angular acceleration). Cranks for those bad boys are huge and heavy! Although inertia may not be the main/only reason, it definitly is a factor. I know very little about diesels in general so I can't even say why larger inertia is better for the diesel cycle. Although hopefully someone else can chime in and add to that. Hopefully some insight.

Is it intermittent, at certain RPM's or constant in 3rd and 4th? Dampers are usually incorporated into the TCC, maybe the stall converters dont have dampers (save weight/cost/etc.). You might be hearing/feeling gear rattle in the drivetrain. The brake test is will give you a good indication if it is the TCC or not.

No I am NOT sponsored by mom and dad. How is a joke whining? Congrats on paying the bills, but for my degree working and going to school at the same time isn't possible, at least for me since I'm no Einstein. I'm either going to school full time or working full time each semester. Hell going to school full time for me is like working 80 hour weeks, and then some. The title is in my name, not in my hands yet but will be soon when I pay off the loan early. On top of that I have installed/payed for headers/ypipe on it since I've had it, along with getting data logging software for it. Which was about $1500 between the two, half the total of what you put into your car, but I am going another route than you. Finally, I will give credit where credit is due. I was impressed with the output of your setup. It's your mouth/brain/hands on the keyboard, whatever, that is annoying. I hardly say shit to anyone, but you have the biggest mouth I have seen since 96cobra or whatever his name was, from back in the day. Thats the only reason people have to bash you.

First off I'm still in college, and can't afford to upgrade the car myself. I could hardly afford the car at the time, but have since managed and never regretted it. Out of the box it has good handling along with great power and is fully loaded. It’s definitely worth more than twice what the total cost of the “colt” was/is. As far as the mom and dad joke, its a joke. You have less than half the cost of my car, in yours? Congratulations you roxors!! Even with the heavenly setup you have in the “colt” what will eventually happen with it? The engine will get yanked/explode and the “colt” makes its way to the junkyard? My car will be around for a long time, being revered for more than just how much power it makes. Not to mention being rare. (Car number 15 to roll out of SLP in the first production year of Camaro SS’s since the 60’s maybe? Not sure exactly) So go back to your sack riding and shit talking, since that’s all you seem to care about judging by all your posts. Oh, and by the way that wasn’t meant as an insult or to be funny, that’s what comes to mind when I see your posts.

I'm willing to bet the new LS7 internals will handle a hell of a lot more power than the LS1. It may even be on par with a fully built aftermarket bottom end. Time will tell.

I've been lucky enough to ride in one. Suspension, braking, power, all just flat out awsome. I know it will do 120+ trap speed.

If you do that, you increase the resistance to flow, even more. Although with that setup, the turbo should spool for the a broader rpm spread than with equal length tubes.

For $5K you will most likely be looking at '93-'97, with the LT1. Depending on what you want to do, I would suggest '96-'97 with the vented optispark. Less prone to having trouble unlike the non-vented. Cheaper editing software is just now coming out for OBD-II ('96-'97), so no need to convert to OBD-I to do any editing. My car put down 271 h.p. and 301 lb-ft, completely stock. Although they are programmed to run rich during the enrichment mode. LT1's are still comparable to LS1's, just need a little help. Good luck.
