  1. My `05 Tacoma gets 21mpg with the 4.0L. But really I'd just get a beater car to drive to work. IMO people who drive a nice car long distance for work with the reasoning "I wanna drive a nice car if I gotta be in a car" are just not fucking thinking. I drive 800miles per week in a beater it won't kill ya, but it will help your wallet. Just pay cash for a toyota or honda and call it done. The guys I work with are always bitching because they are ruining their new cars and I just laugh because my car is making me money (we get paid mileage reimbursement.)
  2. My corolla (330K) gets only the cheapest advance autoparts store brand oil and a purelator filter. My family put 100% of those miles on that car too, but I'll tell ya a secret "it sometimes gets walmart oil and filter." Hehe
  3. Why do I feel like I'm watching a kitchen knife infomercial?
  4. I've been in situations before where I was stuck and then the vehicle that was going to get me unstuck got stuck and broke a pinion. Thats just funny watching us use a come along to see who moves first.
  5. Great road and expect to actually get tired of so many freaking turns by the time you get to Chesterhill. You still have 30-40 minutes from there to the Ohio river too. I take that road home to visit my parents a lot since it gets me about 15 mins west of their farm. Oh and if you wanna make it safer do it at night. That way you can at least see headlights which will give you an easy 5-10 seconds of warning. I'm usually on it at night since I take the trip to my parents on friday evenings in most cases.
  6. Oh and next time dig a big hole, bury your spare tire, and use it as an anchor to pull yourself out. It sucks, but it works.
  7. If you don't pay they can use the mechanics lien law to force you to eventually, but it will require a hearing. If your really worried about the driveway getting fixed by them I'd still probably not pay at least at first to let them know your serious in your demands. I'd document that you sent a letter with your request to fix the driveway that they damaged and that your holding payment for now. Thats completely reasonable.
  8. Yeap thats a no parking zone from 4-630
  9. With a score of 700 you probably can't raise your credit much by using a CC. My wife recommends people with very low scores to get one, use it, and pay it off and change cards from time to time. This will help get a bad or low score up a bit. 700 won't get you the best rate possible, but you can use a first time home buyer program (there are many out there) to get some deals. You'll just need to find an agent who knows the market and knows the business, oh and one who you feel is actually working for you along with his commission.
  10. A job I really enjoyed was a warehouse job. I printed shipping labels and put boxes on skids all day. My back didn't like the bending all the time (boxes weren't heavy) and the pay wasn't great, but as far as enjoyment I loved it. Nothing to take home each night and worry about. I just ignore other employees/managers and do my job and it was great.
  11. Your life sounds like mine. I did the computer nerd thing for awhile, but found that I'd rather do a job which pays me for my toys and is easy enough to do everyday. So I found Copier repair:-) Basically I drive around all day cleaning out toner messes and showing people how to set their paper sizes correctly so it will stop jamming. Pretty easy, I'm by myself 99% of the time, and I get money to enjoy life and challenge myself in other ways other than by working to make someone else rich.
  12. I know you may think its just you, but so far all the screw ups your experiencing are standard. There is a huge amount of paper work and a lot of the time they have people doing that paper work that are incompetent and if its not 100% accurate it gets redone, end of issue. My wife goes though this at least once per month at her bank where someone up the line of hands in the paperwork screwed something up and the closing date gets bumped back. She even ends up being one of those managers stuck at work till 8:30 trying to fix it sometimes.
  13. Those are very nicely done and completely usable pics. When you say ISO 12800 how is that achieved on the 40D? ISO 3200 and some exp comp added? I've been seeing those numbers thrown around a lot lately and I tend to stay below ISO 800 unless I really need to go higher. Now the astro photos on the other hand are always at ISO 1600, but I use a totally different method of removing noise from those extremely long exposures. Ah I see where the pic says ISO 3200 pushed 2 stops.
  14. Very low noise for ISO 1600. Did you run them through noise ninja or something?
  15. So far things are going good for us. I'm getting a new business off the ground, doing some day trading, my full time job is still here and not likely to go anywhere and my wife's in a great position as well. We suffered pretty badly through the last recession (`99-03) so I know how bad it sucks. Luckily at that time it was just us two, the bad part was we just moved to columbus so starting out in a new place in the middle of a recession was not easy.
  16. Wow I can see joint pain in her future. Very impressive.
  17. Wife sees those faked at her bank from time to time so it can be done.
  18. Lol gotta love Russia. Those poor guys could likely walk home faster.
  19. Wearing the suits made that very funny.
  20. Only one problem, its not a yota anymore. 350 chevy engine, TH350 trans, and chevy full width axles:-) Oh and John Deer heavy equipment radiator in the bed and onboard welder so it can fix itself or friends out on the trail. I'd gladly come out as long as the spot is 100% legal. My truck attracts attention, can't get away from the cops unless its got a lot of woods to move though (hehe the ghetto bird don't help up here either), and its not street legal on so many levels that I stay far away from civilization when possible. Oh that and its not even actually safe to drive on a road without paying very careful attention to the traffic around me.
  21. I've still not really needed a winch, but then again I have a 100,000lb strap, 38 boggers, 4.88 gears, lockers, and the truck looks good with dents. But its a trailer queen and can't get itself over 50mph and uses 3-4 mpg. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/IMG_1683.jpg
  22. Haha I got 38's though I have a feeling I wouldn't need 4wd or any gas pedal:-) Looks like a good time though with all those stockers
