can i skip registration on a vehicle not used or running?
Tractor replied to evan9381's topic in Passing Lane
it very well may have been an insurance check. Was years ago now so its a foggy memory. -
Lol, yeah thats Earl I believe. I've driven by there a few times in my work. He is into fixing up and selling them and I hear he's a good guy to deal with and reasonable prices. Last night I took the instrument panel off and checked out everything. The previous owner wired the batteries wrong and blew up a bunch of gauges. He replaced everything except for the oil pressure gauge so I was checking that out along with an intermittent fuel gauge problem which I found to be the grounding and fixed it. Oil pressure gauge must have literally caught fire so its bad and I think the sending unit is also bad since I'm not getting any signals from it as well. Might just install a mechanical oil gauge since I'd rather get real data anyway.

Sometimes you'll get pulled for a random "registration" inspection. I got the notice in my mail once about it. I don't remember what it said, but I didn't have to deal with it since I was up to date. It was on my 4x4 which sometimes isn't current. My sister also got a notice within about the same time period on a car she always drives so IDK. -
dont know if this has been addressed. carry firearm in a car with no trunk.

Get CHL. Makes this a non issue. -
I'd chase them off. If they run, they run if they fight I make a lame attempt at running away then shoot them if I have to.

I finished painting numbers and other markings on her today. Now I'm waiting on the new windshield glass to arrive then I can start doing fun mods like installing lockers in the diffs and getting cargo cover bows that are in better shape or making new ones. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/M35A2/IMG_6340.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/M35A2/IMG_6341.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/M35A2/IMG_6343.jpg

That is a nice looking gun. I'll have to show my wife, she may want one so I can shoot it.

Hey, I'm all for coons as pets. A neighbor down where I grew up had several. He got tore up bad by one of them once. He was walking down the road with it on his shoulders and someone blew their horn and waved as they passed him which scared the coon into going crazy on his head.

Anyone know of a local glass company that could make a couple pieces of flat rectangular safety glass? The windshields in my Duece and a half are cracked so I'm replacing them. I did find an online company that can make glass but its tempered instead of laminated glass which would be better and probably more legal.

Ah yeah annual rate. Lol with that in mind I'd not even bother with paying them off, except for the "wanting a house soon"

Pretty cool truck. I was looking at an F100 years ago to restore. It was early 70's I think, but I didn't end up getting it.

Well as AWW$HEEET mentioned the big dividend payers are always good. I like Scotts Miracle grow myself. I swing trade it and make a bit every year and its got a 2.4% dividend payout. If your paying $80 per month I think your credit card debt is increasing monthly unless they are doing something really nice for you. My wife had the same thing going on when we got married. We were poor as hell and I made her eat rice until we paid those damn things off. Only took about 8 months and she found out it was well worth it.

That is the best thing to do. Those interest rates are nasty and if your planning to buy a house you'll want the best credit score you can get for sure. BTW that $1,182 16.75% load is costing you $197.99 per month just in interest. Get rid of that thing now and you'll be in a much better position to invest. I could think up a lot of places I could invest that $200/mo and you'd be doing well. Your paying $550/mo in interest if thats all your paying towards your debt. So get rid of it and your $550/mo richer. Thats almost a house payment on a 100K place FYI.

I suck at bothering to take photos while I work on a project so no pics, but image a bunch of parts all over my garage in various stages of complete from being stripped to completed. Now the entire upper portion of the cab has been removed and I tore down the windshield assembly for repairing and painting. If all goes well I'll have the cab back together in a week or two. The hard part at this point is going to be replacing the windshield glass. I did manage to break the screws holding the windshield latches (yeah the windshield can fold out) so I'll have to find someone to tack weld them back on. I only have my other trucks onboard stick welder and no where near enough skill to weld to that thin metal.

Yeah don't borrow to "invest" borrow to "trade." But you better know what your doing or you'll be stuck and to know what your doing will take a lot of study, research, and planning. Trading will and should require many hours per week spent on studying charts and following the major news sources before you can even begin to see the patterns and start to make actual intelligent stock trades and not just speculate.

I can get Jupiter up to about the size of a dime in my scope on a very good night, typically when its below zero with no humidity and low atmospheric turbulence. Saturn is about the same and I can see the 2 divisions in the rings when they are turned at a good angle. To me Saturn and the Orion Nebula are the two things I've looked at for over 25 years and it still feels like the first time as I peer through the eyepiece at them. I'm always mesmerized by the beauty of Saturn and the intricate details of the Orion Nebula.

Meade has always been a great telescope company and I'm sure its a fine instrument though I've never looked through one personally. Your right in that its a beginner scope, but it should provide optically quality much better than the department stores usual brands.

I love to show people the night sky, it gives me an excuse to use my telescope instead of being lazy. Perkins is every friday and most saturdays. Cost is nine dollars for tickets. Call ahead because they get large groups some nights. I used to volenteer there as a CAS member. Very cool and Tom will stay out all night if you want.

I have an observatory in my backyard (still need to do finishing touches), but it houses my old friend an 8" Celestron telescope on a computerized mount thats attached to about 2500lbs of concrete.

Today one of the guys on steelsoldiers.com ran the serial numbers on my truck and found that it was most recently with the Iowa National Guard. Probably from 1980 to 2008 when it was auctioned. It was with the 185th Corps Support Battalion Headquaters Detachment. I did a bit of work to it over the past few days. Finished putting primer on the hard top and am waiting for the paint to arrive. I removed the rear piece of the hard top tonight and will start sanding asap. Also lubed a bunch of mechanical things that didn't move well and cleaned the cab with an air hose and found lots of sand, especially in the tool box and battery box areas.

I'm hoping to stay with Grange on it. I've had everything else with them since I was 18 and have an agent who's been with our family for 40+ years.

I'll bring it out sometime for sure. Its easy to get them registered, they are just trucks under 26,000lbs in Ohio so no CDL or commercial truck paper work to deal with. Also on my title at least its make is "Jeep" and body type is "TK" or truck. So as far as they know its a 1965 jeep. I'm checking on insurance options at this time and have a call in to my Grange agent about it. I'll likely just have Historic Plates on it and get a type of antique insurance though I might try to make it considered an RV so that I could get AAA RV coverage because towing this thing home would redefine expensive if the need ever came up.

Thats good though, means they are swamped with applications. Or I guess it could mean they cut back staff.

Franklin is almost always 24-48hrs.

Yeah I saw it there for years and forgot about it until I went to look at it from the cl ad.
