I believe it is instinctual to "sharpen" the claws on upright objects. Soft objects they claw to "fluff". One of our 2 de-clawed hairball-horking fuzz-balls has to "knead" the piping on the couch cushion, before jumping up on it, and they both "sharpen" on every Longaberger basket that's within reach!

You can take your truck to ANY Chevrolet dealership for the warranty work. I'd have crucified the service writer in a heartbeat. I'd speak to the Service manager immediately. If he is of no help, call the GM Customer Assistance Center's 800 number. They'll straighten it out for you. I was a GM (Saturn) Service Manager and Warranty Administrator for 8 years.
