  9. Congrats! My first RX-7 was an 88 vert. I loved it and the only reason i sold it was to build my house. A few facts to know: Yes, Mazda made Turbo II convertibles, named Savana, only in the Japanese, European, and Austrailian markets. There are a few in the states. If you are planning to mod the car: Don't even bother to think you can add a turbo to your car. The 6-port motor will only have nominal gains in HP. It is FAR cheaper and easier to just swap a TII drivetrain in. You cannot put a straight through exhaust on it, as the 6-ports need back-pressure to open. If you car still has the stock pre-cat and cat, I would recommend removing the pre-cat and install a down-pipe, and a high flow cat (if neccessary). These will actually extend the life of your motor due to heat and pressure relief. The wiper switch and the A/C controls (logicon) are notorious for taking dumps. Dealer prices on these components are insane. Some people on Teamfc3s and RX7club forums actually repair them. The vert top motor is also insanely expensive. The top will operate manually with no problems. If you have any questions about your car, or need advice, let me know. Again, congrats! Michael

  14. My wife drives a 2004 Saturn ION Quad coupe (5 speed). She loves Saturns. In fact it's her 5th. Don't ask me why, I don't care to know. They're cheap, and it's a whole lot better than buying her a $30K car every 2 years.

  16. The slamming into reverse is an actuator in the valve body. It is sticking. When the pressure gets high enough to move the actuator, it slams the trans into reverse. Changing the fluid is a good idea, but will not cure the problem. If it won't go into reverse without giving it some gas. You will need to go with option 1. You have 2 choices. 1. Replace the upper valve body (or the entire valve body). This is minimum, a $400 repair from Saturn. Or, If you are mechanically inclined and brave you can remove the intake, battery and tray. Unplug the Bus connector on top of the trans. Take the trans pan off. Then remove ONLY the screws that hold the valve body in ( this is the tricky part ), and swap out one from UWRENCHIT. 2. Live with it. My 91 SL! (beater) has been doing this since I bought it over a year ago. As long as you don't jump in and give it gas while the pressure builds, it won't slam that hard at all and won't damage anything. If you didn't know, I was a Service Director with Saturn for 8 years.
