Sorry, maybe I should be more clear. I was stating that this is not a retro car, as it is just the latest generation of a popular car in Australia. And BTW, the GTO was hobbled by yet another stupid choice by GM to hold the good motor from release for a year. So everyone waited til 05 to buy one with the 6.0, leaving the 5.7s on the lot. That screwed them up bad, because the GTO never got the momentum to keep sales high. If they had brought them out with the LS6 from the start, they probably would have sold a ton more overall. Anyway, it hardly matters for the G8ST, as this is intended from the start to be a low-volume niche car, not an attack on some new market.

If I can manage a new car by the end of next year, this is it. And BTW, there is nothing retro, or useless about it. The Maloo, the Holden version, is extremely popular in Australia, and GM is making no changes other than some minor emissions and cosmetic changes. The biggest expense in bringing this over from Australia is sacrificing a bunch of them to crash-testing. The payload is a bit over a half-ton, and they actually mean it. BTW, it is an independent rear suspension, the same as the regular G8 GT, except for heavier springs and shocks.

Actually, I was the one who said he should mod the Cavvy, but I didn't realize it was a base 4dr. On the other hand, it would make a hell of a sleeper.... As it is, it's a great little commuter. If I had a long commute, I'd probably go for that. Figure out what kind of fun you want from your car before you buy. If you just want to drag, get an F-body, a Mustang, or just about anything with a small-block Chevy, 5.0, 4.6, or just about any MOPAR V8. If you want to autoX or road-race, you need to do a lot more research.

Late 80s to mid 90s, the most common years for hardcore builds, unless you want to go back to the 2002(the model, not the year). After the mid-90s, BMW kind of shifted their focus to the 5-Series, and going after Mercedes.

That's the first kit on a 3000GT that I've actually liked. Looks like it improves cooling a ton. What mods do you have planned for it? Oh, and +rep for a decent intro.
