  1. its only January and we have the CR post of the year. :lolguy:
  2. could only find the small version http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/attachments/random-thoughts/257116d1355575002-should-guns-banned-image001-2.jpg edit: fxd
  3. That's annoying. I read the same article a day or two ago and they were calling it "a semi-automatic military-style rifle" which I think is a more accurate description.
  4. bushmaster .223 model xm15-e2s so whoever said that an "AR" was not used is correct... "assault" is just a word with little definitive meaning.
  5. and every report out also said there were multiple shooters. and every report out said he killed his father in an apartment in NJ. and every report out said his mom was a teacher at the school and was the main target of his attack.
  6. You're right, which is why you must be licensed and registered as a driver. I'm against firearm registration, but I think personal licensing is becoming a more attractive option to the things that are being thrown out there. edit: cars weren't around or affordable for most of America's history. I hope we someday have an amendment regarding usage, considering some of the shit i see on roads daily.
  7. I never saw a report of the rifle being in the trunk. Perhaps confusion between the rifle and the shotgun in the trunk?
  8. 1.75L turbo 4cyl 230bhp, probably will weigh in at 2000 lbs From what I've heard from the Abarth division, that motor is apparently good for hp closer to 300.
  9. I think guns should be licensed like modes of transportation (in a way that's currently not implemented for either item) You don't need a license to ride a bike on public roads. You shouldn't need a license to own basic firearms that fall in certain parameters i.e. revolvers/single shot bolt action rifles. (just as an example) However, you want to drive a car? You need to take some classes. You want to own a semi-auto handgun? You need a little more training than your basic revolver. You want to own a performance car, high horsepower sports car, or large SUV/truck? You've got to be a better driver than a guy who just commutes in a Geo Metro, so you need a bit more specific training...some track time, emergency maneuvers, etc. You want to own an automatic long rifle? You need to prove not only that you spend time on the range keeping your skills up, but you need to demonstrate proficiency and accuracy with that weapon. You wouldn't put a soldier in the field with no training, why would you let a civilian go out and buy a similar rifle with no training? These are all just example to get a point across, but I don't think it's unreasonable to want to know that my gun owning neighbors are proficient and safe as well as law-abiding.
  10. It's true, Alfa will be back in the US. I would expect the 4C to start in the $53-55k range. If you want an idea of what the Alfa version of the Spider/Miata effort will look like, google "Duettottanta". Oh hell, I'll do it for you. http://www.blogcdn.com/es.autoblog.com/media/2010/03/04-pininfarina-alfa.jpg http://static.blogo.it/autoblog/pininfarina-2uettottanta-concept-salone-di-ginevra-2010/big_pininfarina_salone_ginevra_2010_24.jpg http://www.italiantestdriver.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Alfa-romeo-Duettottanta.jpg Giulietta and 4C will be the first entrants to the U.S. Nothing firm in terms of pricing on the Giulietta, but I would expect somewhere in the mid-$30k to compete with 3-series and C-class.
  11. Yeah, this is why the discussion and subsequent legislation needs to be comprehensive instead of targeting non-issues like a particular type of gun or magazine. No matter what side of the issue you're on, I don't think anyone honestly thinks banning 1 type of gun will keep anyone safer...except people who stand on soapboxes.
  12. She needs to learn. You need to both step back and evaluate what is and isn't important. Is having less room in your budget ok because she's unwilling (and don't give me that unable shit, if my annoying ass sister can learn, anyone can) to learn to drive stick, that's purely out of laziness. Laziness is the most expensive thing in the world, and you're not rich enough to be able to afford that yet.
  13. 1) Hammers, blunt objects, etc are tools just as guns are. However, they are tools whose explicit purpose is something other than killing things. The hammer wasn't invented to bash skulls in. Guns weren't invented to do anything other than kill. That is their purpose as a tool. 2) The media isn't "twisting the facts." The inaccurate reporting is the result of the 24 hour news cycle that has made unreliable/inaccurate reporting early on in a crisis not just OK, but par for the course. If you believed everything early on, there were multiple shooters, one of who was Ryan Lanza (not Adam), and he killed multiple family memebers and his girlfriend. That turned out to not be true at all, once the firm facts of the case were determined. What bothers me is the editorializing of the phrase 'high-capacity 30 round magazine'. The State Police have no responsibility to throw adjectives like high-capacity onto the fact that it was a 30-round magazine. High capacity compared to what? A single shot bolt action rifle? A muzzle loader? A belt-fed SAW would certainly make it seem "low capacity" by comparison. And if people are going to quote that rifle or "assault rifle" quote about the percentage of deaths, be careful with that double-edged sword. Handguns have less usefulness in hunting, they are cheap enough to be easily obtained by people who would not be able to get them through legal means, and they account for the majority of preventable gun deaths in the U.S. I'm not advocating a handgun ban, I'm just sayin... edit: or maybe I just need a tinfoil hat

  15. is that their new happy hour? last time i was there (a long time ago) it was $2 anything except top shelf
  16. New question, what jersey should I buy? I'm thinking Derek Dorsett 3rd jersey.
  17. I love the "JMFJ" name. Boone and Tim Erixon were sent down in favor of keeping Colton Gilles, Matt Calvert, and David Savard on the bench in Cbus. I like Calvert, undecided on Gilles, and I don't really like Savard, but I think the Moore/Aucoin line will dramatically help Moore progress.
  18. Paging CR political crew, paging CR political crew, cleanup needed in the oven :lolguy::dumb::gabe:
  19. $1000 in price range difference is not going to change the reliability of a car. Buy a damn Civic or Camry. My girlfriend's Lancer constantly needs work and it's not cheap.
  20. Yeah but at least if you drive a car's sister it won't try to murder you.
  21. with Brass and Artem I doubt we'll see much Boone on the top lines. And while I really hope JJ gets the C, I thought they might give it to Umby. My ideal captains: C: Jack Johnson, he is the US Nat'l Team captian after all A: Vinny Prospal because Vinny A: Derek Dorsett because he leads the league in PIM and is always towards the top in fighting majors
  22. He needs to realize his needs (budget, size, long term reliability) cancel out his wants (AWD, cool car). He should look at a newer Hyundai Elantra Touring or Mazda 5, something in that weird limbo between minivan and wagon. If he ends up deciding a "cool car" is important, he'll probably end up needing some maintenance so I'd suggest dropping his budget to $10k and reserving the extra $ for maintenance down the road.
  23. arbors of watermark isn't phenomenal but it doesn't suck. if being right off 670 doesnt bother you it's in your price range for 1br.
  24. I agree. They have one of the best top D pairs in the league with JJ and Wiz, apparently the 2nd and 3rd lines have great chemistry (Dorsett/Artem/Dubi, and Foligno/Letestu or Johansen/Prospal) and Atkinson is IMO teed up for a breakout season. From what I've read, both Bobrovsky and Mason have been stellar in practice and scoring is hard to come by. Also, I REALLY want Jenner to wear a CBJ jersey this year. According to Richards, he's been tentative in hitting his teammates which'll happen when you knock guys the fuck out (with illegal hits). That'll teach him to admire his pass.
  25. It'll be interesting whatever they end up doing. This year they said that Winnipeg/Cbus swap wasn't out of the question for future years, but I think that Detroit would be moved in favor of Cbus. I say that because Mike Ilitch carries more weight in the NHL than John McConnell, and Detroit would stand to make a LOT of money consistently playing NYR/BOS/MTL/WAS/PIT. I have to admit it'd be phenomenal for the league as well. That said, the realignment the owners proposed last year was shot down by the PA because they wanted a new CBA before talking realignment. I really liked the new ideas they had, with 2 8-team divisions and 2 7-team divisions and more cross-conference games. However, it'd be tougher on the players and with them giving up significant amount of HRR, they won't agree to that realignment plan now. EDIT: By the way, you NYR guys should feel confident going into this season. No team is more prepared to dominate out of the gate than the Rangers. King Henrik is a beast who was 3rd in wins in only 62 games, with this truncated season I have little doubt he'll lead the league in most stats.
