  1. Wait for the Jeep GC Trackhawk (aka GC Hellcat) to come out. 700hp family hauler, what's not to like? EDIT: Or say screw it, go German, get a debadged R63 AMG mommymobile that'll blow the doors off almost anything.
  2. :gabe: Some guys like to buy cars, some guys like to build cars, some guys like me have to buy a car in order to discover that what they wanted all along was to build a car.
  3. I think you do it the way I'd do it. Will reconsider the iron front sight, I wasn't a fan of the inability to drop it but I totally see the rationale for having it. optics are not a consideration at this time.
  4. http://watchdogwire.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/florida/files/2013/01/516patrol-600x286.jpg handguard length doesn't really matter to me. would consider calibers other than 5.56 but I assume those parts are the most common/least expensive. EDIT: you're totally right though, the gun I had was all I needed. it just came to me fully assembled, but replicating it with minor changes (no gas block sight for instance) and building it myself to try to learn a new skill is probably what i'm most interested in.
  5. Paper serial killer/safe trophy is my M.O. Not trying to take down an elephant or trapse through Tora Bora. To be honest, of all the guns I've owned I've probably cleaned them twice as often as I've shot them. I played with Legos and K'nex as a kid like it was my job, now I'm basically doing the same thing except now my puzzles are guns and motorcycles and cars. I'm not one to turn my nose up at a brand if they are inexpensive instead of cheap, but I always prefer quality parts. Budget would start out at, say, $600-900 but parts would be bought with the possibility of upgrading in the future. I believe in investing in a solid platform with the idea that ancillary items can be purchased later. When they're on sale. Because I'm a cheap-ass.
  6. I've always been a DIYer, a tinkerer, but often without any discipline or direction. Before I went crazy on tinkering, I just sold my Windham AR, but I could feel the urge coming to go nuts with it. What things should I keep in mind if I decide to build an AR from the ground up? Seems like parts compatibility is something that should always be kept in mind though quality parts will usually play nice together. I just want a new gun project and this seems a good place to start.
  7. Columbus Cars and Guns is what we should be called.
  8. Funny you mention that, my buddy works at Pony Powersports and told me to come see a Vrod he had. When I sat on it and looked stupid (6'3" 300) he took me over to the Strykers and Raiders too. Basically they're just Yamaha attempts at being HD. They don't seem like a bad value proposition if you don't mind getting sneers from HD guys (I don't) and prefer super low maintenance and high reliability compared to HD.
  9. How big are you? A while ago (couple years) I was also looking at VRods, I loved the idea of the HD/Porsche collaboration. Sat on one and it was ridiculously small/low for me, I would've looked hilarious.
  10. We had a basic used one (previous rental) on the lot and it was inoffensive and boring, but a nicer equipped one would be a really great daily IMO.
  11. If you keep saying nice things and helping me sell my guns I'm gonna have to start paying you commission :lolguy: Thanks!
  12. Certainly possible, all the more reason for someone to snatch it and enjoy those sweet sweet profits Gonna build my own soon. Just putting the parts on this one was fun for me, I'd like to try my hand at building but I don't feel the need for multiple rifles.
  13. Here's a .pdf from Windham's site Still basically new. Bought it to go shooting with a friend/coworker who then immediately left the state for a new job. Never fired, just cleaned the packing grease off it and put a bunch of parts on it, mostly new that I got from him. Following parts installed: -MOE carbine stock (FDE) -MOE SL grip (FDE) -AFG-2 angled foregrip (FDE) -cheap black drop-in handguard with rail covers. slightly longer than normal carbine length with cutouts for both A2 gas block sight (which it has) and sling mount (also installed) -MBUS flip up rear sight (FDE) -Sightmark Ultra Shot Reflex sight Also included: -120rds 5.56mm -1 standard metal 30rd mag -2 magpul pmags, 1 windowed 1 non, both black 30rd -Daniel Defense VFG -stock furniture (standard handguard, buttstock, and grip as seen in the .pdf above) -carry handle/A2 rear sight. I installed this Leupold carry handle mount which raises whatever optic you want and allows the iron sights to be used. It is removable. -hard plastic single rifle case. Not super interested in separating things or trades, but worst I can say is no. Trades should include cash from your end, I'm not looking to put any more into this hobby for now, looking to fully or partially cash out. Pics coming soon but use your imagination for now; it's a black rifle with FDE furniture and some extras. $800obo PM or email caxidea@gmail.com
  14. You might be able to get a dealer to do the out-of-state inspection for you.
  15. 4 flew over our dealership on Wednesday in formation. Loud and low enough to shake our windows, looked cool to see 'em all turn west together in formation. I don't believe I've ever seen an F-22 in the air, it was pretty remarkable to see.
  16. You will not be disappointed if you should choose to work with them.
  17. Boston's kinda funny; there's Southie which everyone knows from The Depahhhhted, but there's also the South End which is just west of Southie and where millionaires live.
  18. Was there 10 or so years ago for a Battle of the Bands at the Majestic Theater. On our way out, there was a man beating the ever loving shit out of a woman in the median of the road. Went there earlier this year for a concert at the Majestic Theater. Area is MUCH nicer, no hoodrats, didn't think twice about walking around with my fiancée or leaving our car parked outside. Was not shot, was not murdered. My guess is it's probably a lot like my impression of the Indianapolis area; sure there are many parts that you literally should not visit if you're white, but there are really nice areas in the metro area and the suburbs are quite nice.
  19. 250 straight six with the 3 speed? my god you'd probably be able to build a truck from the LMC catalog before that thing drove itself back here.
  20. I'm sure it will cost upwards of $35k and not have AWD and overall be a massive disappointment to anyone who isn't a snapback-wearing, vapor-spewing, kool-aid drinkin Honda fanboi.
  21. I think he'd been in it before but he definitely appreciates the recognition. He just loves doing what he does (and he's usually right because he spends so much time studying his craft).
  22. Corrupt politican vs corrupt businessman. Take your pick, then vote Johnson/Weld.
