  1. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. For those that may not know, Verizon Edge is basically a phone financing plan where instead of paying up front for your device, you roll in monthly payments with your bill. I want to discuss the pros and cons and see if my math works out. A couple good friends (who I consider to be intelligent, thoughtful people not prone to the pitfalls of the small print) recently enrolled in Verizon Edge to upgrade their phones. For instance, one of them bought a phone that, with the subsidized contract upgrade price, was approx. $250 pre tax. However, instead of paying $250 up front, he enrolled in the Verizon Edge plan which allows him to "finance" the phone over the course of the newly signed contract, at $27 per month. $27 * 24 months = $648, or right about the exact non-contract retail price of the phone. However, Verizon also offered him a 24-month $25/month credit on his statement for enrolling. So essentially, his monthly net cost is $2/month, making the total price paid $48. And he allegedly owns the phone at the end of the contract and doesn't have to turn it in or pay a balloon payment (this is the part I'm most skeptical of). I'm looking for the catch in this. I subscribe to the "if it seems too good to be true, it is" doctrine, but everything they've told me seems to be above board. My theory is that if everything flushes out the way they say it does, the main purpose of this is to prevent defections to T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T who are offering aggressive unlimited plans AND offering to pay off any contact cancellation fees WITH THE TRADE-IN OF A QUALIFYING PHONE. By locking customers into a payment plan, they do not own their phone until the contract is up and thus any breach of the contract would not just incur the contract cancellation fee (usually around $180 I think) but would also force the customer to pay off the full retail balance of the phone itself, likely around $600, making it very difficult for the poacher companies to justify their buyout offer to the bean counters. I'm just looking forward towards my own phone purchase and I want to make sure I know as much about this plan as possible in advance so if it really is as good as they say that I can take advantage of it. I'm looking at getting a Galaxy S6, and considering how happy I've been with my GS4, I don't think I'll want out of my contract before 2 years is up.
  2. Interested in a swap? I have a Nixon and a Fossil. Would consider trading one or both. PM me if interested. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121061
  3. He stole that disclaimer from me, it's my intellectual property. I will be bringing swift and emphatic legal action.
  4. I'll never understand why some people insist on selling hopes and dreams as the best/fastest/whateverest instead of just saying "Yeah UGR makes a hell of a product, we're pushing ourselves to be better but it takes time." I find that to be a hell of a lot more appealing when considering with whom to do business. EDIT: Also, when I get around to making full power by strapping a pair of GE90 Turbofans to to my ST-150,000 (for 150,000 combined lbs of thrust, horsepower is for plebeians) it'll be the most powerful 4-wheel thing in existence. YOUR MOVE, CTD!
  5. Your GF wasn't imagining things. They looked awful. And it's tucked behind a bunch of Nissans because they are all Wiggles' nutswingers and he needs to satisfy his vanity. $100 to anyone who can get a photo of their nuts on the wing and send it to Wiggs/tag CTD on instagram
  6. I wonder how long it'd take him/anyone to notice if I were to cross out the 2 in "LP2000" and write a 1 in. http://i.imgur.com/AUnBDd1l.jpg
  7. Good to hear. Financial burdens can be overcome through many people's hard work. Overcoming alcoholism requires an insane amount of work and dedication from one person specifically, along with help from their friends & family.
  8. Since I don't trust any news organization to report things properly, here's the EPA study link: http://cfpub.epa.gov/ncer_abstracts/index.cfm/fuseaction/display.abstractDetail/abstract/10266/report/0 Also, what sort of cretin uses propane to bbq?
  9. This guy sounds like a prime Brodozer candidate
  10. Buddy's gf is going to be leasing a car soon, I sent them to the auto show to check cars out and she's a big fan of the IS. Would love to hook them up with a CR salesperson, PM or post if you are or know someone. Be warned, he's gonna negotiate but he's not unrealistic.
  11. Welp, the internet has its daily winner, everyone else can go home :lolguy::lolguy::lolguy::lolguy::lolguy::lolguy:
  12. I'm not sure I've ever seen a car that was more confused about what it is.
  13. You only think that because Hellcats don't come stanced on stretched rubber band tires. If there was one that was scraping with rainbow lug nuts you'd be playing pocket pool like everyone else. #lowlife #stancenation #hashtag #yoloswag #iknowbetterthanengineerswhogotdegreesinthisshit
  14. Very clean looking example, and with this weather I think he'll have a lot of interest.
  15. If CIPS falls through, Dr. Mark Preston is a good guy. I took his daughter to prom many years ago :megusta:
  16. I really hope Alfa Romeo looks at this car if (when) they build a 4C Quadrifoglio Verde.
  17. Drove around with expired 1963 California plates on my '59 Apache for several months never got so much as a funny look from an officer :dumb: Eventually put normal, non-historic tags on it and was also never bothered.
  18. yeah but apparently on Planet CTD pump gas is the only thing that matters.
  19. It's not just a consideration for the buyers, owners, and drivers though. It's a safety issue for everyone else on the road. A motorcycle cannot cause as much damage to something else as an autocycle/side by side. Nor does it occupy as much space on the road, nor does it weigh as much. A Slingshot weighs 1700 lbs, that's enough to go through the side of a house.
  20. If a car can't meet crash standards, maybe it doesn't deserve to be on our roads. Here's a scenario for you. You're driving your car trying to turn left through an intersection. Light turns red, you start to move and the guy coming the other direction tries to beat the red. You both collide. In a normal car-on-car scenario, this is known as failure to yield, and you're at fault for the accident. I've seen many accidents like this, known several people involved in them, and they're pretty low-key accidents. Except in this scenario, the car is an Elio and without any safety or crash equipment, the driver is killed. This is now no longer a case of your insurance premium going up, but rather a question of if you can afford a good enough lawyer to get you acquitted of a vehicular manslaughter charge. IMO when you're bringing a product to market that specifically targets a gray area in the law, you have to expect that things may not work out in your specific favor and account for that in your financial expectations. Not doing so is just foolish and a terrible business decision.
  21. Regulation may not be a bad thing as long as it's done with common sense. I know, that's a huge ask.
  22. What a fucking cunt. My best friend had a serious back issue caused by HS/NCAA football. Scrip for percocet turned into trading percs for oxycontin, turned into heroin when he couldn't afford oxy. I recognized the signs and confronted him, he cut all ties with me for about 3 weeks when he and I went to a movie, then he committed himself to rehab. He's been clean almost 6 years now but has to stretch and be careful every day. Never had surgery. Don't do the pills. Even if you can control yourself, it makes you a target to anyone who knows your condition. Avoid painkillers.
  23. Things that Ohioans do not understand: - Left lane is the passing lane, not the "stay out of the way" lane. - Turning to a far lane is illegal and causes accidents, and it's your fault. - A merging onramp lane is not a shortcut around cars when you're in a traffic jam.
  24. Natural History Museum = British Museum  All good advice
