  1. You want to argue packaging, are you kidding me? We're talking about engineering an efficiency, not external dimensions. I brought up the F1 motor because no one on the planet can make a pushrod motor that perfromrs like it. I'm comparing the pinacles. I'll just point out that you haven't rebutted my point; It is possible to cheaply improve MPG in their cars. If they can't do it, it's because they suck at life, not because it's impossible. GM just isn't trying. They're pinching pennies and preserving the boards Bonuses. They could boost their CAFE average by offering more diesels in their cars and trucks. I'm looking around, you're the only one really arguing for GM in this thread....hmm.

  3. I'ma learn you like I was leared muh'self. How did you dress? Did you answer questions, or ask them? Dija say "um" alot. I'll quote some things that I was told. Sounds like you're getting interviews, so your resume must be good and I'll leave that stuff out. The incandescent appearance of prosperity bloody works, I'm not kidding. I bought a suit when I found out my company was closing us down. Not a $100 Kohls suit, I went and got a proper suit...at 60% off, I got lucky. It got mentioned at all interviews. It didn't get me the job, but it did get me listened to. I may have helped that I was interviewed mostly by women, but you'll find most HR folk are. I ended up with a job paying 30% more in a more advanced field. If you don't have experience on paper, you either have to exude the aura of experience in the interview, or get them to like you enough to hire you regardless. I don't care how much experience a guy has, no one wants to hire an asshole....unless your hiring an HR position. Get people to want you around and you'll move to the top of the pile. Here's a question I posed: In an interview you are constantly being asked loaded questions. Your answers matter in way that you may not be aware of. You getting the same responce may be a result of you giving the same kinds of answers. Here's some back stabbing news; You've probably got enough experience. Interviews take time, and time is money. No one will ever waste time on an unworthy candidate. For my current job, I was interviewed a total of 5 hours over 2 days, by 5 people. No one can waste that time. They looked at your resume and decided, before they even met you, that you have the experience. You wouldn't get called otherwise. As long as you didn't lie on the resume, you're qualified for the job, you just have to sell yourself and get it.
  4. You need to recognize a difference here. In simple terms, we'll call it: Bread and butter Flash The H2 and H3 are both flash. They sell most of those that they make...but that aint alot. To continue making those instead of attacking Camry and Accord is suicide. They need to restructure. Flash sales of Vettes and Hummers wont support GM. Show me a sub 2 liter pushrod engine that makes 1000hp on gasoline without boost...ya can't. GM needs to loose it's pushrods. "use the existing technologies in new ways" I agree, OHC engines have been around for half a century, GM needs to catch on. Blah Blah My LS1 Blah. You cannot argue that OHCs aren't more efficient.

It's pretty pathetic what you tried to do with the numbers there. 1: Put an A8 next to a fucking mailbu, Monte Carlo, and Grand prix, tell me they're the same bloody size. The A8 is much bigger, different class. 2: The Audi S4 and BMW 3 series are not compact cars. It's hilarious how you're stacking these brackets assuming that no one has ever seen a car. 3xx in the same class and an Aveo? You're fuckin blind. Also, you're comparing an S4 to an Aveo. The A4 is a mid size and gets 22/31 mpg, get your cars straight. Here's some math: Audi A8 wheelbase: 121" x 204" A4 104" x 180" A6 111" x 193" (29mpg) BMW 3 series 108" x 180" Malibu 106" x 188" Aveo 96" x 169" Finally: THE CARS ARE NOT EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF THEIR MOTORS. You pay more for the car, and you get ALOT more car for the money. Compare an A8 to anything GM makes, seriously, do it. The point of bringing up these cars isn't their price, it's what they're doing. If audi can get 31mpg out of an AWD mid size sedan, GM had damn well better be able to get better then that from a Malibu. With FWD and much less power, they only get 3mpg more. If you want a 240hp v6, you get 290hp Mark VIII mpg. Audis 255hp V6 gets more power, better mileage, AND is AWD. Why? Why are AWD cars matching and beating GMs FWD car mileage? Try this: GET THE CAMS OUT OF YOUR ENGINE AND ONTO THE HEAD! For god sake, engineer a fucking engine block! How long have they been keeping the pushrod V6 and V8 around? They just don't want to spend cash on developing a new one. Everyone else has done it except Dodge, and look at how awesome they are doing.
  6. Unfair comparison. An A8 is more then it's motor. It's got ever amenity you would want in a luxury automobile. There is no comparison, price/price. My mentioning it was to point out that some one had designed and built a 40mpg+ car that is huge, makes 326bhp, and even weighs 4200lb. But they cheated, they used a TDI. Oh wait, that's not cheating, that's engineering. When will we develop diesels like this? Never, Uh'muricans won't buy cars "with truck motors". Why? Because American diesel cars have sucked. Big heavy V8 will pick up 5mpg with an EEC tune (maybe a few hp, too). Put a leaned out PI v6 in there, and you're done. DESIGN A CAR! Don't just add wings, scoop, and broad front fascias and call it "hip". The SSR is the "emo haircut" of 2001. The Aztek? The Fucking AZTEK!? WTF'zor!?
  7. Not true. I have no degrees, and the only job that I've got through a friend was Bus Boy at Bob Evans. I've advanced everywhere, and am in a position that normally requires at least one degree. I recently hit the job market again, after almost 5 years at the same place. I'll be unemployed for all of 2 weeks, and people looking for me are few and far between. I sent out 30 resumes, much less then most people do. Not only did I find work, but I'm making almost 30% more then I was. The catch is, I have to move to Cincinnati. It's never "who you know". Think about that, how do you know them? You know them by meeting them and establishing a positive image for yourself. From there, you make friends. It's the same with employers. It's not what you have but how you present it. You may have more experience then you convey. If you don't you need to express the value of that experience and how it'd developed you professionally. Post your resume (minus phone numbers). Have you had any interviews?

If Audi can make a 40+mpg AWD A8, you aught to be able to crank out a midsize 30mpg sedan :pathetic: The CAFE doesn't say that the cars need to get Xmpg, just that the lineup must average Xmpg. Get rid of the H2 and H3. Assholes say it's our responcebility to change our demand, and the government needs to motivate us by raising taxes and gas prices. Build mid size RWD cars with 3.0 and below displacement. Dont stuff Live axles and 4L80Es in the bitches. Give them small manuals and mousy IRS. A 3 series Bimmer 3.0 gives you 240bhp for 28mph with AWD. With RWD you can get 300hp/29mpg or 230hp/30mpg. Theres no reason an Ecotec can't be put in a RWD G6 and get 34mpg+. "We don't know how to get 30 percent better mileage from RWD cars" is their problem, no one elses.
  9. Not looking to spend all that much on parts. Besides, my OE system is great. I do forsee a problem; the way it opens up. There's no clearence in my console for that movement, the HU sits at the bottom of the stack.

  14. hmm...How much wiring? I'd imagine it'd need power and a couple sensors to keep from "vacuum boosting" too much. So I'm finding 2 boosters for Fox bodies. This thick one is labeled as "power brake" specifically This one is of the same generation, but is significantly smaller. So, am i to understand that the vacuum booster is in there? I'd like to stay with power brakes, it's a heavy car. Then again, I don't know brakes, what's the benefit of manual? There's also this, would I be better off sticking with something designed for the space available? If I go that rout, I'd like to use an aftermarket master cylinder. How do I measure the travel?

  18. Mites are a bitch! Keep them out of his eyes, for gods sake keep them out of his eyes. One thing I've seen tried is a bathtub. Snakes can swim, don't worry about that, but you've got to keep hi submerged for a few hours at least. This will at least cause a migration. and make them more localized. If you're removing them with a tool, be careful and start at one end. Work your way from the tail to the head, like SWAT sweeping a building. If the spray works, use it all over. REMOVE his substrate and scenery. Glass enclosure period, until they are gone. Sucks for him, but he's not exactly a complex soul, he'll forgive you. Thought: feed him ALOT. Induce a shed, see how many that takes off. But again you have to control his enviroment.

  22. This have me thinking....Know anything about installs? Cuz I dont. My Jag has a Harman Kardon System with an amp. I'm satisfied with evrythign except the HU, which has a casett deck, and a 6 disk changer way back in the trunk. Any idea what an install for this would cost/how much of aPITA it would be, minus the beauty ring? (I can make that)
