Interested in trading for a 1991 Probe GL? Oh, and pics?

Anyone recommend a shop that does rear disc conversions?
Kuruma replied to Kuruma's topic in Passing Lane
Oh, the front brakes are going to get their well-deserved attention as well, it's just that the GT models had all wheel discs, and I'd like to have that. Not just for the stopping power, but discs in general are just easier to work on then drum brakes in case anything needs replaced. That, and the rear brakes are *OUT*. They need redone anyway -
Since I'm going to need to do the rear brakes on my probe eventually anyway, I was thinking of just getting a rear disc conversion done, so it would have the disc brakes that the GT model does. Any recommendations on who to go to, and what the cost might be?

At least the customers ordering pizza from the store I now work at are tipping pretty well. Made enough for a fill-up my first night, and I still have a lot of it left. Gauge says a bit over 1/4 tank, but it's still got 5gal left on E or so. +1 on the grease bit. I've toyed with the idea of looking for an 80s Benz convertible diesel to have converted over to run on vegetable oil.

People need to quit panic buying, and quit driving their fucking SUVs all the time when they don't need to, and the prices will drop.

If you know them and have some time to take a look at the original, and the spare to see if something usable can be cobbled together out of the two carbs to make the car run right again, I'd be glad to bring the carbs on over. Forgot that my reply earlier about the Probe didnt post: Alpine didn't get much of a chance to fix the problems, leaving that to myself. Planning to to the valve cover gasket ASAP (as I have the gasket ready to install, just need the right sized bit to pop off the valve cover). I've never had the vibration, but the clicking is because the front right axle is gonna need replaced. Cheap from u-wrench-it, and I was told it's pretty much a 2 hour job for a shop like Napa. The exhaust is loud because theres a hole where the pipe meets the resonator, probably best to just hack it off and put a straight section of pipe there. It's still running fine and pulls hard in the higher RPMs though, but given the current situation, I'm trying to shift below 3K (trying to keep it to 2,500 maximum unless I'm in a really bad situation) whenever possible, and using the cruise control to lock the speed at 65mph on the freeway, not only to avoid getting a ticket, but also to save gasoline.

The AE86 gets good gas mileage, but I can't drive it because the carb is royally screwed up. As for the Probe, it gets fairly good mileage too (not as good as the AE86 used to, but it's a much heavier car with a good bit more balls), but a CRX *HF* has been known to get closer to 50MPG, which is why I'd like to get one. Not really looking at the better models, like the DX or Si. They're nicer, and faster, but the HF is lighter, and tuned for extremely good fuel economy. A metro would be pretty damn embarassing to me, but when it comes down to it, nothing is affordable to drive except shit like that unless you can afford to buy a new hybrid. Edit: a DX wouldn't be half bad actually, even 40+mpg is good. Expanding interest to any EF Civic hatchbacks as well. Or willing to trade the 'vert as a track/parts car in exchange for fixing the Corolla so it's driveable (at least so the engine runs right again, I'll deal with the rest on my own)

The gas price situation is finally so out of hand, I can't deal with it and need to downgrade. 1: Toyota Corolla SR5,1986, RWD. "AE86". Got it to run, but carb needs rebuilt/replaced. Have extra carb, but car won't start with it for some reason. 2: 1988 Mazda RX-7 'vert. good for track or parts car *ONLY* due to no title. 3: 1991 Ford Probe GL, same one that was on here before, bought it from my friend when he decided to get a Town Car. Mainly interested in trading for a CRX HF, in good shape, some rust OK, but nothing that is gonna compromise the car's structure or isn't easily fixable with some bondo. Would be willing to consider a Geo Metro LSi convertible as well. Looks like my racing days are over for a while. Prefer a 5-speed, but would be willing to take an automatic.

Gas is now over 3.00 in COlumbus and Chillicothe

Someone trade me my 3 cars for 1 CRX HF? -
Damn. That sucks that her car had to be messed up like that, but with a few minor things, that 'lude could make her pretty happy
-
That Prelude you just picked up was pretty damn nice, and you drive well, BTW. You going to be putting it up on here in the near future?
-
You could always pick up a diesel car, and convert it using the greasecar kit so it could run off used resturaunt grease. Keep the fast car as a weekend fun thing, and the diesel beater as your daily go-to-work car. Hell, Mercedes-Benz used to make some rather nice looking, comfortable diesels that can be had cheap these days.

Mustangs aren't a bad choice either way I like the Probe that I just got, myself.

If "rivalry" is a synonym for "E-Douchebaggery", then yes.

'Cept when the driver was racing his 5.0 against my stock SOHC Neon last year

Car is sold Go ahead and lock this topic.

Yeah, It's made it all the way to the Greyhound Station downtown and back more then a couple times. I just usually carry water with me to replenish it before driving back somewhere

It's not really worth enough to justify selling the radio seperate (It's an OLD one). If it goes to U-Wrench-It I'll put the CD player in the AE86 and it'll go with that when I sell it.
-
Unfortunately, someone else on here already claimed the vert earlier this week and put some cash down on it, so I can't sell it to someone else. The AE86 could still be for sale too though. I got it to at least start and move under it's own power. The Probe can hold a lot more cargo then the AE86, is a faster car, and attracts a lot less attention from theives in L.A. then a RWD Corolla.

I'm not much for the hardcore ricer shit myself, but for what it is... It's still ugly. Honestly, I've seen much better show cars.

Friend of mine who is obsessed with Lincolns says the recall was for 1991-1994 Town Cars with the 4.6L engine only, unfortunately.

Just got a much better daily to replace the Prizm, so I'm selling it. Here's the details: 1990 Geo Prizm hatchback (same as an AE92 Corolla, mechanically) Toyota 4A-FE engine, 16-valve DOHC 4-cyl which had about 102hp stock. 196K on the odo. 5-speed manual transmission. Clutch is fine, shifts good. front passenger door does not open, because the lock is stuck, all other doors are fine. Front windows have no handles, wouldn't recommend messing with the passenger door, but the drivers side door goes up and down fine when I use pliers on it. Rear windows are fine Exhaust is very loud, looks like the manifold is a bit loose, and the bolts need to be retorqued Radiator needs replaced as it leaks, but car can be driven. Windshield has a crack across it, but it's so low it doesn't affect visibility at all Odd set of rims on the car, tires are a little big for the car. Would recommend snagging steel wheels from an AE92 Corolla or another Geo Prizm at the same time as getting a radiator at U-Wrench-It. Needs a replacement taillight housing on the left side. Key won't open the hatch, works in all the other locks. Kenwood CD player is installed in the car, plays CDs fine, plays radio fine. Doesn't like some CD-Rs, but is fine with others. First $300 takes it. Spend an afternoon at U-Wrench-It and you have an OK beater so you don't have to drive your nice car too much. Need the money to buy some parts my Probe could use. Otherwise I might just sell the thing to U-Wrench-It if nobody takes it. I'm planning to move back home to california.

I hear the B6T swap does pretty well in those cars... something to consider.
