no because if you drive 5 miles to work 5 days a week and drive 30 miles somewhere else once a week the odds are your wreck is more likely to happen on one of those 5 mile trips. I'm not getting into the fire and drowning scenarios because that's stupid but sticking to the subject at hand most people think they're safer because they live close to work when the statistics say otherwise.

it's the same as people thinking because they only live 5 miles from work they're safer.

Road Rage in Russia takes an interesting turn.
xlr8tn replied to Linn1647545492's topic in Pics and Vids
I would think that if you ever pull in front of someone and block the road then you're number 1 task after that is to not get your ass beat. This guy failed that task. He got un-road raged in a hurry. -
you didn't miss much.....instead of a sweet ass 70 Mach 1 like I wanted Dad found me a 75 cutlass. Thing was so slow it had dead bugs on the BACK windshield. I cut my automotive teeth on that thing though. I fixed or replaced just about everything on that car at one time or another. When I got rid of it there was 180k miles on it and it would start up first try with out pumping the gas pedal. For the kids here that may not know....that was a carb thing back in the day. My dad was smarter than I ever thought.....I didn't realize just how much he knew until after he was gone.

I read statistics similar to this many years ago and although this survey is pretty old I'm sure the statistics haven't changed much because too me at least they make sense. http://www.drivingtoday.com/features/archive/crashes/index.html#axzz2Za0uNG9F Cliffs if you don't want to click the link: The answer is Progressive Insurance, in a survey more than 11,000 people who reported a crash in 2001. As part of an ongoing claims satisfaction survey process, Progressive asked all 11,000 crash victims how far from home they were when their accident occurred, and the results confirmed the old adage that most accidents occur at home. Interestingly enough, this data is not typically gathered by law enforcement or insurance companies. The survey found that 52 percent of reported crashes occurred five miles or less from home and a whopping 77 percent occurred 15 miles or less from home.

That's sorta what I was getting at. Safety is at the top of my list then dependability. When I was 16 I had saved all of my money from the 2 summers before and had almost enough to buy a 70 Mach 1 a guy had for sale. I really wanted that car. Dad wouldn't give me the rest of the money to buy it. Guy sold it before I could get the rest of the money. At the time I was pissed to the Nth level of pistivity. I didn't understand it but now that I'm older and have kids I 100% agree with dad not giving me that money. I would've wrapped that thing around a telephone pole somewhere. That's not to say everyone would do that......but I would've and dad knew I would've.

anyone do a pick 'em league through yahoo? I was in 2 last year. I've never done fantasy football and frankly never want too....just too much to keep up with. I did however like the pick 'em league. Only takes a couple minutes each week and I don't have to keep track of any stats.

Remember.....this is just my opnion so take it as such. Although it's cool as hell to have your daughter be interested in old stuff and wanting to learn to work on it I would never buy that as a first vehicle for my daughter. Maybe as a hobby vehicle for her in a year or two but not as a DD for a first vehicle. Chances are pretty good for new drivers that they will get in a fender bender at some point and newer cars are just way way more safe and it's easier to replace a 99 civic than it is a 64 c10. 3 on the tree is a pain in the ass to drive in traffic too....my dad had one when I was 16 or 17. Hated driving that thing. Again....just my opinion. At the end of the day this is a decision only you can make and you know best what's for your kid.

that shows them actually out doing reporting which doesn't happen now......they just get their info from the web like the rest of us. The only difference is they don't know that a name like Sum Ting Wong isn't serious when talking about an Asiana flight going down.

that's some really cool stuff......I always enjoy looking at how creative people can get with what would otherwise be an ordinary object. I also enjoy seeing new takes on ways to cool my beer down. -
Down 100 pounds as of today since Jan 1st, WOOT!

the OP already posted what he's been eating and his way is probably a lot better than how I've done it. I started eating weight watcher smart ones meals and that's about it. I eat banana's and what not as snacks but generally just eating the meals is what done it for me. I found that they're not bad tasting at all and they somewhat fill me up. I started out just eating 3 of those a day and some fruit for a snack later in the evening when I would get hungry but that wasn't giving me enough calories so I had to start mixing in some other stuff just to get my calories above 1200 a day. I use a fitness app on my phone that tracks calories and stuff like that. I was walking and riding a bike but my back started hurting so I had to quit doing that. Just got a shot in my back a week or so ago and plan to start walking again this week. Next on my list is to get some weights and start lifting a little bit but nothing major. Just enough to tone my arms and chest back up. After I get all this rolling I want to tackling my chewing habit. I've dipped for years and it's just time to stop. I'm dreading that much more than the weight loss. -
otherwise known as " a dead man tells no tales". Innocent is the only verdict that made sense here.

the face is where I notice it the most too. My legs/arms show it too more than anywhere else. I have lost some in my mid section though because I had to go buy more shorts. I officially hit 54lbs lost this morning. -
don't knock the man.....I'm sure he's seeing a therapist and going through some tough times because his creativity is a burden. He has a group session scheduled later with his husband Lars.

we have been battling the shit out of the fleas lately and nothing we do seems to work. I've used about every bomb, spray, and pill on the market. I just bombed the house this week for the 3rd time this summer and am still seeing fleas. We vacuum everyday and spray the carpets. I got a bag of diatomaceous earth that I'm going to dust around the house and out in the yard but that only kills the adults. My yard is where I think I'm making the mistake. I haven't treated the yard with anything so that's next on my list. The problem is the chemicals haven't even killed the fleas in the house. The pets were boarded while we were on vacation and I bombed before we left and after we got back then kept the animals in the garage for 2 days while I bathed/dipped them before bringing them back in. No difference. I've about given up on being able to get rid of them myself. Not sure what else I can do other than treating the yard but like I say....I've barely made a dent on the ones in the house. Tired of putting all these chemicals down with a 9 month old crawling around too.

congrats on the accomplishment......100 lbs is awesome. Having a supportive wife also helps a lot. Me and the wife have been doing ours together. Not planned really. She started losing weight after the baby last October and then in March of this year I just decided I would too. I think it makes it easier on both of us just to have that other person in the house supporting you. -
I don't have 3' but I do have an extra piece that came with my kit. Measure what you need and I'll measure this one. It is expanded on one end to slip over 4" and then it's 4" on the other end. Believe it's the difference in length between my ext cab and a crew cab or it could be the difference between my short and a long bed.....I forget. If you can use it you can have it.

Let me know how that works out

this thread made me remember this encounter I had in the garage a few weeks ago....never seen one of these until then. Not really sure what it is....when I looked it up it looks like it fits both clover mite and velvet mite. It was about the size of a pin head. Wouldn't have even saw it if it wasn't red. I snapped a pic so I could look it up because generally in nature if you see a bug or animal that's bright red or bright yellow that means " don't mess with it." Turns out they're relatively harmless. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj37/0rion_album/IMG_1522_zpsbd9195bb.jpg while I'm at it I'll post this too because it was just cool to see.....had the garage door open 2 weeks ago and around dusk this guy flew in and started nailing bugs up and down my lights. He picked both sets of lights clean before he left. I didn't even know the damn things ate bugs....always thought they just drank nectar. He put a serious beat down on some bugs though. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj37/0rion_album/IMG_1591_zpsdde6fbad.jpg

if you start getting stink bugs in the house you'll have to find out where they're getting in and fix it. They put down a scent trail and others will follow it into the house.

You definitely have had the dedication...congrats. Have you noticed the running taking the pounds off faster than if you were just dieting? We've been doing vacation the last couple of weeks and again this week so my weight loss has stalled out. I haven't been gaining weight but not really losing any either. I'm right at 50 lb's lost right now. I'm hoping after this week to start losing again since we don't have much planned the rest of the summer as far as traveling.

I don't understand it myself. Exactly why are we crackers? Because we're white or because we're salty? Honky I don't really get either but have heard it my whole life. I think more thought needs to go into a really good slur for us. To me I think "whitey" is worse than those other 2 but it doesn't really bother me either. Not sure us cracker ass honkies will ever have a good slur because we don't have the history to put any punch behind it.
