  1. If anything, I'd worry more about the 2004 Touraeg around it...early-1st gen electrical gremlins give me pause. However, I think the Cayenne and Touraeg are fantastic SUV's, if you're into that sort of thing. There's a black 1g V6 Cayenne with a Turbo front fascia and 22" TechArt wheels at my companies' offices in Dublin that I think looks the business, even if it's not really a turbo.
  2. I thought about the distance as well...32 stories up and a block away. However, he barely needs to aim anywhere but the mass of 30k people and start spraying bullets (assuming LR rounds). It's still lethal at that distance provided the group is tight enough. Plus, he was high up enough that even after people reacted to the fact that something was going on (after a couple of minutes at least), I'm sure it was tough to tell where the firing was coming from. Again, a terrible tragedy.
  3. I'm all about a Tesla, once the used prices get down a little lower. Battery range is the ONLY thing left to improve on EVs. Everything else - durability, efficiency, driving dynamics - has been successfully engineered to balanced perfection.
  4. Good to know, but man...reviews on the website complain about the "MyQ" function.
  5. "Snow White"? Another Traveling Wilbury goes off into the sunset
  6. At least the NFL is breathing a sigh of relief...something something knee something anthem... That spotlight can get hot after awhile. Kerry will take your suggestion under advisement. Do not expect him to change his trajectory.
  7. In addition to being creepy, there are civil cases that sort of behavior opens a person up to, as well as misuse of police property. Scumbags gon' scumbag.
  8. I'd switch from iPhone to Android, but I've been on Sprint for 14+ years and get a free iPhone upgrade every 2 years. Plus, we are an Apple family, with Mac at home and most of my family/friends on iPhones for Air Drop, FaceTime, group texts... I'm not saying Apple is better! But, I would be "divorcing" my family/friends if I abandoned and I don't really know what I would gain from the transition aside from battery life (I'm not tech-savvy nor big into apps outside of mainstream stuff).
  9. I've never priced this combo - what sort of parts cost is wrapped up in the mods above?
  10. Thanks, Chris. I've already texted Rob.
  11. Maybe I should look at the 2JZ swap again. It's not like they sold a bunch of Mustang GT's in the United States or anything. I mean, we live in the MidWest...I wish I could find some cheap V8-powered Mustangs to use for parts... :gabe:
  12. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Ford-Mustang-COBRA-/132340271836?hash=item1ed0184adc:g:yd4AAOSwzSRZyELJ&vxp=mtr 240hp/280tq with parts to resell/scrap? "GIB YA 500"
  13. Joe, thank you for your thoughts. I really appreciate the insight. I'm going to wait to see what comes of the F-150 deal, as I'll be camping with my friend this weekend at Hocking Hills with our kids. As a side project, I'll definitely keep an eye out for '95 Mustang GT's (I remember this being the last year for the 5.0L in a Mustang). https://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/d/mustang-gt-95/6308112816.html I don't mind breathing new life into old parts, where it makes sense. Thanks again everyone! I do welcome your comments.
  14. Meeler is right...I'm not happy unless it's a performance improvement on the highway and streets for wooden nickle prices. As Bloomberg published in an article yesterday: you don't have kids to get rich. I would apply the same logic to cars: you don't throw good money at street-performance vehicles and get rich. I'm not going to overthink or overspend for this project. Grant, even if the 2JZ swap was cheaper than a Ford 5.0L, you show me the aftermarket support - knowledge/experience of doing the swap, modified engine/tranny mounts, cheap parts into an E36 - that make it better in the long run. I'm not going to make 400+ hp for this BMW. I'm not swapping in cheap power to sell it. I don't want to have it down for months/years while I troubleshoot weird 90s-Toyota-in-a-BMW problems no one else knows about. http://www.mikaelvroom.com
  15. Sure! A lot of modern OEM exhaust systems are stainless, and crinkle-bent for lower cost.
  16. Yeah, grrg...I was enticed to do the project if the free F-150 motor/ECU could be used. If I'm going to spend a few thousand, I may go back to a $3500 VOHRSCHLOHNG kit and a take-out 4.8/5.3 w ECU....
  17. I really haven't seriously looked at sourcing/pricing parts for a 5.0L swap since I bought my BMW 3-4 years ago. I'll take a look at car-part.com Although, if I'm not getting a 5.0L out of an F-150 for free to use in the BMW, should I just look at buying a donor Mustang (for EFI, headers, maybe a T5 tranny already)? Right off the bat, I'm going to need cam and aluminum heads...all day long that's $1000 right there...I may as well try to find a wrecked Mustang with parts I can use...
  18. To be honest, does it have to be mandrel-bent? I've seen Engine Masters test exhausts and you're just better off with a larger-diameter exhaust system that's crinkle-bent for budget's sake and you'll still make power.
  19. Wow. Did not see that green leather interior. That is FANTASTIC to see on a modern car.
  20. I'm glad I made this thread, because it's starting to sound like an F-150 - even at 40k miles - may not be a good 5.0L/EFI/ECU swap candidate?
