Getting older as a car guy is fascinating: - We all lusted from time to time with some weird cars in our youth. (Diablo, Viper, Syclone/Typhoon, 3000GT VR4, F355, Countach, Testarossa, ZR1, etc...) - We watched these cars fall to rock-bottom prices in our early adulthood, yet passed on them for many reasons. - We moaned when the same cars started to shoot up in value after 10 years or so, regretting that we didn't buy them earlier... I watch some of the amazing modern exotics/muscle cars out there these days, and I'm making a list (Viper, UGR TT Gallardo 6-speed, Switzer700 911 Turbo, C7 Z06...). When the rest of the world starts oogling over the new 2022 Nissan Altima, I'll grab something cheap... $87k for a ragged out Gallardo is nothing. I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall to $50-60k for good examples in the next few years...

I'm trying to swap out the coil springs on my '78 Lincoln for air bags, and I test-fitted my 2-piece Autozone death-missles and they don't have the room or the grip to compress these monsters. The rear coil mounts on the axle are open in the middle, so I'd be able to try a through-the-spring compressor... Otherwise, I've heard good things about these (especially over 2-piece)... http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_20436.jpg Does anyone have a hydraulic compressor? http://jdlawhon.com/taco/tacopics02/spring_compressor.jpg

Props to Tim (NHRATA) for letting me check out his 6x9's...when I realized they are 5x7s. My bad...I've been out of the aftermarket car stereo game for 15 years. Anyone have 5x7's?

I gotta admit...I'm a fan of this song, and combining rap with whatever-the-fuck-Skrillex is.

Pre-bent brake line kit for Chevy Cavalier?
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Tech and Tips
I'm assuming you need to cut and flare the line as well? -
Pre-bent brake line kit for Chevy Cavalier?
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Tech and Tips
I'm assuming that the 1999 Cavalier sedan brake lines won't work for an '04. This is a weird year. I called "SS Tubes" (they're out of Wadsworth, oddly enough) and they said the "body changed" for Cavaliers... -
Pre-bent brake line kit for Chevy Cavalier?
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Tech and Tips
I called Maxton just to double-check...yep, they definitely don't have it. Do you know what the line/flare-nut size is for a Cavalier? -
Let me know where you're located!

LOL, I had another car guy send that to me...looks like that thing is getting a lot of visibility.

http://motoburg.com/images/chevrolet-corvette-magna-steyr-50th-anniversary-01.jpg Magna Steyr has you covered, Randy. Retro-looking Vette on a C5/C6 chassis. A guy near my condo in FL has one and they really look good in person (not like some cheap kit, rebodied Fiero).

http://jalopnik.com/2017-corvette-grand-sport-don-t-buy-any-other-corvette-1784235809 I am very much in love with the new Corvette Grand Sport.

I did a post before several months ago for my 1978 Lincoln, but it's tough searching for "6x9" Can people please advise if you have any good used 6x9 speakers? don't need anything crazy, they will go in my '78 Continental, being powered by the factory headunit, maybe a lightly-amped aftermarket stereo down the road. May also need 4"(???) speakers for the door as well. Thanks, CR!

Hocking Hills Rental Question?
zeitgeist57 replied to Stallion Motorsports1647545491's topic in Dumpster
I'll check with my wife...we're going down next month with a bunch of families. Went last year to a log cabin (HUGE, with an indoor pool) and it was awesome. Lots of newer houses for rent down that area. -
If every golf course had these I'd play 5 times a week.
zeitgeist57 replied to SpaceGhost's topic in Pics and Vids
It would be annoying as fuck to have a bunch of these buzzing around. Plus, does anyone realize how much drinking goes on at golf outings? -
I lol'd at the "spin-the-bottle" motion the trailer took after impact, like a cartoon. I don't think the boat did the damage as much as the metal trailer. Driver is lucky the trailer tongue didn't enter the cabin!

I'm a car guy, living in a sports-guy world. Wanted CR's opinion on this topic: My kids are 8 and 5, and my wife and I were not big into sports growing up until middle-school and high-school. I have a friends and co-workers that have their kids go to private school as well as public schools, but from a sports standpoint they are all on "club" teams that travel around. The money and travel time are big commitments, and invariably the parents bitch about the time spent on the road. A neighbor is enrolling his 8-yr old daughter in a 4-week tournament volleyball league, with a tourney each Saturday and only 1 practice each week. Cost? $1,800. "That's nothing", he said. The clubs where your kids have to try out run 6-8 weeks and cost $4,500+!!! I want my kids to play a sport if they are interested, and have said to a lot of my dad friends that scholastic sports would be fine: no need for travel teams unless they get really involved in a sport. However, the more that I see my peers spending THOUSANDS in these dumb "club" teams - and almost universally pan school sports as a dying structure - I do have to wonder if my kids are missing out??? Just typing this out makes me feel better, as I know there's no sense spending chunks of change chasing a sport that the kids are mediocre in at best. However, is anyone else hearing the same "blah-blah-Lacrosse-blah-volleyball-blah-blah" from some of their friends with school-age kids?

Jeep (LOL for the haters) Pickup coming soon?
zeitgeist57 replied to Otis Nice's topic in Passing Lane
Fair enough, Mitch. My point was it was at least way better than the 3.8 and the Neon 4-cylinder of the 2003-era TJ's was gaddamn scary. Progress and perfectly adequate. -

I know about the kits...but to your point it doesn't get an 8ft bed. I love Cleetus, but the idea of a more modern Cleetus with A/C and modern reliability wrapped in a Jeep bow is a really attractive option. Jalopnik was mentioning how well the Frontier still sells well in 2016, despite being a 12-year old chassis. My FiL has an '08 Pathfinder (same chassis) and it is a really nice platform. ^^^Casey gets it. F**king sheeple financing/leasing dresser trucks with no bed volume LOL. After driving back-to-back Wrangler Unlimiteds back in '12(?) at a dealership when they changed from the 3.8L 210hp V6 to the Pentastar 3.6L 283hp V6...I have to say it's a heck of a powerplant. Sounds like a Turbo-4 and/or diesel plant is in order in the '18 Jeeps which I would be interested in learning more about. -
http://i.imgur.com/rPzYnyBl.jpg Pulled the back seat out, ran the main 4-gauge wire from battery. Installed 80A fuse block and splitter 30A fuses in the trunk. Wired relays, grounded the compressors and IT RUNS!!! Was surprised at how NOT LOUD they are. Definitely a racket, but very manageable. Running lines tomorrow!

zeitgeist57 replied to Otis Nice's topic in Passing Lane
I know it wont be available...but I'd love to see it offer an 8-ft bed, single cab, stickshift. I heard Ram is looking to offer a mid-size pickup/SUV...maybe this will be the chassis? -
Is this that road-race Merc 190 2.3L 5-speed?
