  1. +1. Some of the spots where the white paint around the engine was peeling put me off. Still, I DO APPRECIATE the creativity and "steampunk" craftsmanship that went into this finished product. Is it me, or do even cruiser show bikes look scary with no front brake? Is that seriously bad, or could you stop a bike fine with a good rear brake alone?
  2. I think the new 911 body looks absolutely the business. Amazing time to be a car guy. Maybe not a poor car guy, but a car guy nonetheless.
  3. I just ordered rear wheel bearings for my '95 318. It's not going to be a fun job but needs to get done. While I'm digging around my BMW as the weather gets warmer I'll likely be doing the fronts as well (again, not an easy job - see video). Does anyone locally have the special BMW wheel bearing tools to pull the old bearing/race and especially the alignment tool for reinstallation? Thanks in advance!
  4. I know a guy that bought an '01 Z06 new and had an aftermarket catch-can installed for the blow-by. It probably gets worse with age, but I can definitely confirm the LS6's at least came factory with a good amount of crankcase pressure.
  5. It's an older woman that owns that one...I believe she's a realtor? Little blue puffs of oil smoke when it launches from a stoplight. Might be time for valveseals.
  6. I did a "cold start" vid years ago when my old 6.2L diesel Chevy was having glowplug issues. I used the video on a Chevy diesel website to get some troubleshooting advice... Lost count on the number of freaks that messaged me on YouTube to do more videos with me operating pedals with and without shoes on. :fuuuu:
  7. I've taken our Odyssey to Roush Honda for all servicing, because I like the dealership having record of vehicle service history. That being said, I also don't mind it because they show EXACTLY what services will cost, and it's cheaper than me buying RockAuto parts and doing work myself. I'm not saying whether MAG was in the right or not with the diagnosis fee......but if I'm having them do ANY work I'm assuming there will be a "non-relationship-fee" involved, and it's going to make you upset. Go indy.
  8. Congrats on the new car! Props to Ford for even making the Focus ST...great to see so many of them on the road.
  9. Very cool build. From a guy that whines about $100 parts, I appreciate the full swan dive you take into these sorts of projects.
  10. +1. I'm not reading it every day - but when I catch up, it delivers. I've been off of social media for a significant amount of the last two weeks and my life has been simpler and fun just managing direct communications and my own interests. I can't imagine keeping such short-term conversations/relationships together in my mind. Was in Cleveland for work over the last couple of days and a co-worker from Chicago was showing me Tinder. I can definitely see how you get sucked in...
  11. Adding new credit inquiries or lines will NOT help you in the next few months; it can only hurt you. Close out some of those cards. Have you taken a proper look at your credit report from a service like LifeLock? They will usually have a half-dozen bullet items that will tell you what else you can do to improve your credit score.
  12. 804 is a very good FICO score. Keep in mind that your score will also be based off of debt-to-income...so making more money while keeping revolving and amortizing debt to a minimum helps as well. Why do you have so many credit cards? I think your ideas are spot on: unless the benefits are great, close down some of those open accounts and just request a higher limit from the Chase card and the Citi card. Moreover, what do each of these cards do? Both of those banks are VISA/MasterCard issuers. I can see having an AmEx card and a bank-issued VISA/MC card...but not sure why you need multiple banks unless some of them are for small business needs...
  13. Holy s***...that place is sweet! Agreed...perfect if I was single. Not close to anything though. To replicate that living area-in-a-shop/warehouse anywhere near Columbus would cost double that asking price...
  14. I'm renting a '15 Ford Focus with 22k miles on it, and the tranny shudders when I'm rolling off from stop. When it's cold, the pulleys hunt up and down the rev band. It's a really disconcerting feeling. Again - I realize it's an Avis rental car, but if you're going for a CVT, make sure you're at least the FIRST owner of the car - or you have a really good idea of who the P.O.'s were before you.
  15. Fucking LOL...I read that article and I swear, Matt...I thought of you when they were talking about the Ohio-based RX-7. Very cool to see your own, lasting, influence on the world around you.
  16. I guess you won't get $90k for a Caddy unless you charge $90k for a Caddy. The real question is if people will buy one...
  17. Makes me sad to think that my son will be doing a "for sale" ad like that a few times over after I kick the bucket. "My dad plunked my 529-plan money into airbagging this Lincoln. Now, I have no college edumacation and need to sell this POS to pay rent. Landau top peeling, fake gold wheels need a polish. Asking(begging) for $45k."
  18. FYI, I used a Home Depot "Airport-Grade" sealer and rubber heat-to-spread crack filler on my asphalt driveway last fall...and this weak winter has destroyed the coating. I powerwashed and spot-treated it as well beforehand. It was an easy job and I had fun doing it...but I'll avoid that route from now on as at least the companies that do a hot-coat of sealer seem to last a few years.
  19. Thanks, guys. I've got nothing to lose as the guy is right by my house. Will see if the tool fits...
  20. Guys, I was replacing rotors, pads, and the rotten rubber wheel brake lines on my 1978 Lincoln Continental when the last nut froze to the hard line. I PB Blasted, flare wrench'd, and eventually ViseGrip'd...but just rounded off the nut connecting the hard line from the car to the rubber wheel brake line. A buddy is letting me borrow his 3/16" flare tool to redo the hard line, but for the last half-hour I've had a heck of a time trying to figure out what the "factory" hard line size is. The nut used a 5/16"s flare wrench if that helps. Please advise, or let me know where to go. All the online sites (RockAuto, JCWhitney, parts stores) were worthless...
  21. Next week will be in the low 30s. Thanks, ohio.
