V6?!? That's crazy... I do like it. The "Dare To Be Different" bone in my body is tickled...would love to know more about the engine...

"Financial Services" is a great, general area to start out in. You'll hear Rymer, Miller, etc...bish about Nationwide, but fact is that if you want to start out at a ground-level sales position, Columbus is riddled with banking/insurance companies. Bank branches are always looking for people to start out as tellers or "personal bankers" assisting clients. You do well there for a year and a half then you should be able to translate into something else. Full disclosure: branches are hardly as important to banks or customers as they used to be. Still, a good place to see - outside of a call center - if that industry is good for you. I appreciated your story above, Bob. It made me reflect on some of my own situations and experiences that I feel got me to where I am today. Indeed, I never want to be the smartest person in the room. I've also lacked the plan but felt the pull to eventually do my own thing (outside of real estate investments) and kept my eyes and ears open. Very happy that I'm finally working with a partner and long-time friend to try and get a pet project off the ground that could turn into a nice little niche industry. It's a great feeling to have those "projects" to look forward to in the future. Great plan. I agree that you need to have the vision and planning to see it through. Good luck!

That is an awesome vid. Damn, that thing is quiet. He could almost skip a gear; start off in 1st-3rd-4th or start off in 2nd-3rd-4th...

No worries, Marc...this thread derailed from OP's discussion about Worthington/Westerville housing a long time ago.
-
OK, just so I am following... Work in Westerville, teach ballroom dancing, wife gets bewbjob, makes side money flipping VAG cars... Wants to buy in Worthington OR Westerville. Both are great areas. Finds "the one": country house in BFE. "The one" is apparently not "the one" because of plans to breastfeed liquefied silicone to another child. CR: Winter Edition . . . . and the hits just keep on comin'. JIVE/BUSTER in 2016

I'm just repeating what I heard on NPR. Tom Ashbrook with "On Point" said that the war on drugs and zero-tolerance laws put pressure on black Americans for generations, but now there is a "mundane epidemic" of opiate addicitions that is causing OD death rates in rural America to exceed urban areas for the first time ever...there's a call for "tolerance and treatment" instead of incarceration. No matter how bad life gets, an addiction to oxycodone is not the answer, Rush Limbaugh...
-
DJ, if I were you I would avoid opiates. it's poison for the white man these days. I did think when I clicked on this that you were buckling after oil prices over the last few months. :gabe: Then I saw it was a gag. JOKE BE ON ME...

Bob, at some point down the road, you need to either: 1) Write a book 2) Speak at seminars 3) Business consulting

THANK YOU Although, admittedly I spent an extra minute copypasta'ing the articles into Word to do the search...

I need a few as well...carpenter ants gutted at least 6-8 of them around my patio.

Good points here, Samsonite. Look at Scott Cordell...call center work at Jegs keeps him plugged into cars (which he knows and likes) but in a customer-focused capacity. They're looking for inside sales folks as well...

One of the topics my coworker and I discussed was the transition of the stock market. Between robotrades and the vast majority of trade volume channeled through mutual funds and ETF's, I'm going to put my qualified 401(k)/IRA dollhairs in a few funds/ETFs and just let it go. I have a feeling that guys/girls growing up through the recession of '08/'09 and this major correction are going to be stock-market-averse in the future as well...
-
Wow at this market. My BDCL has thrown off some great coupon payments over the last year or so...down 50%. RIG is down 61%. Even my Ag/Energy mutual funds are down 20-25%. RIP to you guys that got into USO in the $teens. What's winning? Preferred stocks (PFF), and my inverse ETFs (which I just sold a chunk of for 10% gain. Will be exiting that holding stage right ASAP:lol:) Just had lunch with a coworker who does Leveraged Finance for the Oil/Gas industry. He says the market is absolutely dead. No deals. Tough time right now and confidence isn't getting any better.

It's great to see all of the ink you're getting, Wags. Just remember I KNEW YOU BACK WHEN... Question: if you're taking static shots of a subject car in a shop, are you concerned about other cars' license plates in the background? Like, owners maybe being upset? I read HOT ROD and it doesn't look like people care about showing plates. Just curious...

I'd entertain a review to see what it would take to update CC&C. Aside from Facebook/Youtube feeds for photos and videos, I can manage the content. It's really a static, non-commercial website. I like the interface and layout of WordPress - and can use it myself - but again, this kid's layout I cannot figure out how to update and make changes. This one would be simple. For developing a site with online ordering capacity, or at least gateway links, I'm interested in what the costs are to setup and maintain, as well as hosting. We will have some product photos and videos. This would be a new ground-up site with commercial applications, so I'd like to get it right. I did figure out WordPress and honestly haven't dug into the capabilities yet...thought I'd see CR's recommendations first.

Lost count of how many times I'd hear the comments pre-Recession about UA having such high taxes. Then, everyone built 2, 3, and 4 high schools during the R/E boom out in these farm-suburbs and now the taxes are 1.5-2x for a shittier-built house and neighborhood. My SiL lives in New Albany Farms...awesome house and I do like the area, but her annual property taxes are ridic. At 37, I have an understandably jaded opinion at building 20-30 miles out from downtown Columbus, when growing up in Cleveland the same thing happened in the '70s and '80s with disastrous results by the '00s decade. "White flight" is unfortunately real in Columbus...you'd think we would learn by now. Greg, I will say that we need to get ready for the next 15 years. The "Master Planning" public sessions are going on for UA and they're likely going to need $196 Million to redo Hastings Middle School and the high school with all new buildings. Several of the elementary schools are going to get major renovations. Many of the buildings were built 50-60 years ago and while they are still serviceable, they need to be updated. Total estimated cost will be announced in February when board recommendations are submitted, but I've heard totals of $400/yr increase per household. Yeah, I've got no problem paying that. EDIT: To OP's question, I cannot speak much about specific neighborhoods, but if you're at Cleveland/Shrock, you can't go wrong with focusing in on Westerville.

Having been in a relationship with a girl that went to OCPM in Cleveland, and now having two brothers-in-law that are ortho surgeons at NASH, I agree that podiatrists are good for everything up to serious foot-and-ankle surgery dealing with tendons, ligaments, bones, joints, and injuries to any of those four. My $0.02...my podiatrist gf was great at getting me fire-beetle extract for a wart I had on the sole of my foot. :\ Thaaaaaaaaaats about it.

So, I just partially read Doug DeMuro's article on driving a Hellcat, and I quantified the following. My comparison was to a recent article from Jack Baruth... Out of an 873-word article, Doug refers to himself (I, I'll, I'm, I've) a total of 50 times. Out of a 1,350-word article, Jack B refers to himself (same as above) only 18 times. Bottom line is I dislike how most of Doug's articles are more about Doug...not the car in subject. For being a cheeseball in personality as well as physical form, it's a writing style that doesn't support his weak personality. I feel better having completed this 5-minute, Word-document copy/paste exercise. That is all.

Looking at two website projects - I would greatly appreciate guidance from CR: - http://www.columbuscarsandcoffee.net - Ryan (ForeverMaker) has been a gracious host (no pun intended) for the CC&C site for at least the last 4-5 years. In 2013, I had an OSU student update the site to what it is now. However, the Facebook feeds for pictures/video doesn't work and I'm not familiar wit the layout he used. - Distribution/Sales company - My wife is going to be managing a couple of products for sale online, as well as through social media/eBay/Amazon outlets. Will be a separate group of small LLC's operating separately, but still managed by her and myself. CC&C is a WordPress site format. I think the layout is pretty easy to use, but since the update I don't know how the kid changed the layout. I am open to staying with WordPress, unless people have other recommendations (GoDaddy is where we host our domains, Register.com? Wix.com? Weebly?) I'm looking for updates in terms of best platforms to manage cloud storage and site management ourselves, but would welcome a professional touch as well. Thanks in advance!

I haven't seen an "Autotune the News" since the tornado went through Brooklyn...
