Well, it's been a hectic week but I spent a good amount of late nights out in the garage. I swapped the thermostat and waterpump out...refilled with distiller water. Tried bleeding several times, but still got really hot. I tried squeezing the rad hoses and that did get some air bled out; at one point the thermostat clearly opened and the electric fan kicked on. It's good that I replaced the waterpump and thermostat, but ultimately i think it was just - and still is - air bubbles in the system I need to work out. My neighbor has a pretty big slope to their driveway...will be there tomorrow!

Transfer Registration to another Ohio vehicle?
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Passing Lane
Thank you, gentlemen! -
Please let me know if you or someone you know has a rollback truck that can be used in a Fourth of July parade. My wife and grade-schoolers have a role in the UA parade, and decorating a large truck would be a great way to shuttle them down.

My wife and I are planning our summer trip to FL. The Passat is on its last legs, so we're actually thinking about getting a cheap-but-better car here to drive from Ohio to FL. Once we get there, we'd sell the Passat to my buddy who runs a car consignment shop for a few bucks. MY QUESTION IS THIS: how involved do I need to get in transferring Ohio plates and registration from one Ohio car to another?

This is waterpump from the block. I removed the pulley just fine. I did drain the coolant, and the thermostat housing is removed as well.

Does anyone have a BMW waterpump removal tool? You'd know it if you did. http://ohiobimmers.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif I posted this up on OhioBimmers, but only got a smart-arse response from this AZN GM/Nissan owner that doesn't even have a BMW anymore. :gabe: It bolts up to the in-block water pump to exponentially increase leverage. I am able to rotate it in the block so it's free, but I cannot get it to wiggle forward out of the block. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm going to ask the obvious, especially since I just sat in a local business seminar where the CFO was talking about customer service being #1... Isn't there a warranty on their work? I had a crack in my old minivan's windshield and an aftermarket windshield through Safelite beat out Gerber and someone else I called by a significant amount. That's where I would still go unless you want to pay top dollar for OEM repairs.

Well, that f**king worked out nicely. No wonder the Mach1 was wrecked...it's an automatic. http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/11201crying1.gif

A.J., what size are the jacket and waist? I'm looking for a 42L or 44L jacket with a 36" waist. I'm more of an Allen Edmonds guy but 12D or 12E shoes work for me!
-
A.J., I appreciate the offer. I'm into some loud ties these days (to compliment my equally-colorful socks). I'd try eBay, as I know a couple of brokers that buy dress shoes on there. I'd be surprised if you could get $100 for pre-worn neckties but good luck all the same. What about Grandview Mercantile? That, or Soho in Dublin? We looked at them to sell my wife's furs before she decided to keep them.

Hermes? http://www.hermes.com/index_us.html I would think Grandview Mercantile might be a good place. I'm curious what he wants for them...I'm intadested in some nice ties...

I feel ya...I hadn't been to Didney Worl since I was in grade school in the '80s, and even then I remember being drug around and not having much fun. In 2007, when we still lived in FL, my wife's entire extended family went to Didney and we drove up to meet them and hang out with them and their kids. We didn't have any at the time. Honestly, I had a great time and it was that much more fun to see the kids having a blast. I did Space Mountain and Carousel of Progress a couple times each because I'm a dork. There's a ton of nostalgia to Magic Kingdom. I came away from that trip with a new-found appreciation for Mickey. What REALLY seals the deal for me is when you go to another amusement park or carnival, and you see how much money you spend anyway. The experience of Didney is well worth the money. We bought 2 10-day Park Hopper passes between my wife and I for the equivalent of $60ish a day back in 2007 since we were in-state. We burned through them all within a few years and unfortunately they've gotten lax with in-state discounts to Florida residents (I still have a valid FL drivers' license). Sad to say the price for an adult day-pass at the ticket window is over $100 now... Another intadesting fact I heard on our Disney Cruise was out of 3400 guests that time, over 50% of them were Florida residents. I'm sure there were a lot of grandparents with kids, but in reality they have some amazing short-notice deals on rooms that are still open coming up on the week of. If you thought the OSU Buckeyes had some die-hard fans...Mickey's giving them a run for their money!

I've had a VAG car in "service position" a few times...props to you for going full-bore at this car. Looks like you're giving it a fighting chance at being a fun and somewhat-reliable cruiser.
-
Jon, great write-up above. I will concur that my wife does all the planning...Fast Pass is essential and plotting out ahead of time where to go is key. I just keep an eye on the kids and have as much fun as I can myself. Haven't been back to Magic Kingdom since FantasyLand was finished. If you REALLY want the ultimate Mickey joy-gasm, hit up a Disney Cruise. We went on our first one last summer and it was amazing. Balcony room for only 4 days/3 nights was over $4k but worth it IMO. You can bring your own libations on the ship into your room so all I'm overpaying for is the food...not my Tito's-on-the-rocks.

Cadillac service people? TSB on CTS brake lines

So Joe...you are the guy to hit up for Cadillac recall work? -
It's late and I'm fucking tired. Take it from me: he shouldn't buy the car anyway.

Recall is for vehicles originally sold - or currently registered - in Rust Belt states. My Cali V is involved. -
Pre-96 Jags are Lucas electronics...electrical problems from the factory. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend the post 1996 Ford-controlled Jaguar XJ's (body code X308) if you were going to get a Jag sedan at all...

I wanted to thank Akula here on the board for mentioning John Ross Roofing a few years back. They've been great over a few jobs I've needed. SOUNDS LIKE HE AND HIS WIFE RETIRED! How dare they... His son-in-law, Dave Clear(???) of Clear(?) Construction called me after I spoke to Mrs. Ross...anyone have experience with this guy? Anyone else have a good referral for roofing repair? After putting a whole new roof on one of my rentals last summer, I want to stretch out my main home's shingles a few more years but I have a rotten soffit spot. Any help would be appreciated!
