  1. I hear ya...depending on where you live - this guys in Dublin, going downtown - the distance/cost may be break even, but I understand having zero wait time when you're ready to go home.
  2. I've got smart TVs with Netflix/Youtube/Plex apps and have been doing this for the last year. Definitely made the "cable-dropping" process a lot easier to adjust to. Apple TV gets it on the one TV we don't have apps for. Definitely a great way to go.
  3. One of my coworkers swears by this service. He waits for someone to come to his house, drives his wife and him wherever they need to go in HIS car, they wait however long in his car, and then drives them back home drunk. (he was talking about this at a holiday party) As opposed to Uber, if I'm in Columbus and planning to start and end an "evening out" at my own house, this seems like a great option. Anyone have experience with this service? I'll be giving it a whirl as the holiday parties ramp up this time of year.#firstworldproblems #imalush
  4. Though I've heard of the band many times before, I don't listen to GWAR. That said, this is a great cover of the most popular Pet Shop Boys' song I grew up with...and I loved what GWAR did with it. http://www.avclub.com/video/gwar-covers-pet-shop-boys-211000 If you don't like that, Billy Ocean also had be in tears. GET IN THE FUCKING CAR!!!
  5. ...at least now it cannot be UNseen...:fa: It's more like a breech birth, but anyway...
  6. Wow...young Wags is young. Happy Birthday, Brian!!!
  7. I was being nice. I could see some wack-a-doodle paying $4k-5k for it, but I have to believe the shop would be out way more than $8k in parts and labor for a "full restoration"...even on a relatively simple car like an '80s GM FWD econobox.
  8. Wouldn't Michigan be up I-75? Even Buffalo is on I-90...and that's more than 6hrs away from Roundtown...
  9. Fun Fact: The banner in the "CITATION" logo is the Canadian flag for their home market. I'd be amazed if this thing gets more than $7500 at auction...
  10. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Hope you're able to enjoy it with family and friends.
  11. The fact this thread is still going on baffles me. There is no cost-benefit - by a LONG SHOT - that justifies development of a traditional "light rail" transit system in Columbus, OH in the year 2014. I grew up in Cleveland - where the RTA has received numerous awards over the years - and have happy memories as a kid in the late '80s/early '90s walking to the Shaker Blvd "Rapid" line, and taking a German-made, electric train downtown to meet my dad after work on Fridays. We'd workout at the Cleveland Athletic Club, stop at Tower City where I could get a cassette single, and then drive home together. I lived in a city that has a great light rail system, and there is a negligable benefit to the community in 2014 from a business development or retention standpoint. ^^^BTW, that infrastructure in Cleveland (and Columbus, see below) was laid down in the late 1800's before cars became the normal method of transportation. Can you please, PLEASE tell me how a light rail system will benefit the 2014 infrastructure of Columbus? Infrastructure that is built around the car, roads, and buses that traverse them? I WANT a light rail system to work...but that is no longer a viable option. P.S...if you go down about a foot on High Street, there are still steel rails from an ancient trolley system. Yeah...sounds like it was such a rousing success that it's still around today. ***Le GABE*** http://www.columbusrailroads.com/hc-history.htm Sorry, guys...with cars getting to be faster and more efficient, and all of us fat, happy Americans valuing our personal space and time, I've got $100 that says there will never be a light-rail system in this city in our lifetime. EDIT: Mandatory reading for anyone who wants to sound half-way intelligent when speaking to the specifics regarding costs and benefits of light rail systems in metropolitan areas of the U.S.: http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/pa750_web.pdf "Heavy investment in rail transit at a time when irreversible forces will lead to declining transit ridership is like investing in manual typewriters as microcomputers became popular." Maybe we should focus less on paying for rail that will cost $75-$200 million per mile, and help pay for the loan on Nationwide Arena. :gabe:
  12. http://flightclub.jalopnik.com/faa-issues-no-fly-zone-over-ferguson-mo-1663071895/+flyingphotog LOL. Because large peaceful protests in public spaces often lead to shooting in the air. Colon...ROLLEYES...end colon.
  13. Dunno to be honest. I'll find out from my wife...
  14. Michigan looks like an awesome state. I'm looking forward to visiting there... http://cdn.filmschoolrejects.com/images/waynes-world-monkeys-might-fly-out--e1297873880696.jpg
  15. My wife's friend needs a concrete slab poured in her basement for her washer and dryer. She's gotten run-around because this would be considered a "small job". Please advise if anyone would be interested. PM me for the lady's contact info. Thanks!
  16. Nickey was talking about ceramic-bearing turbochargers at CC&C recently, and I've been wondering how long the turbos have been on the market. Does anyone have experiences with them? Sounds like an impressive automotive technology leap! Not sure if a smaller turbo is available, or how long they can go before being rebuilt or re-greased (in the attached example)... http://compturbo.com/spotlights/oil-less
  17. If you're looking at rich, deeper color, my FiL's 2015 Stingray came in Night Race Metallic. It's damn near black, only showing a really deep blue metallic in the sunlight, and it's really stunning in person.
  18. I'm a big fan of the Black Diamond...but I'd be nervous about getting such a heavy flake right on an aftermarket respray. Any thoughts about the Thunder Gray color on '06-'07 CTS-V's? I'm a little biased... http://tenwheel.com/imgs/a/b/c/n/c/2011_cadillac_cts___v_ctsv_sedan_thunder_gray_556hp_6___2_v8_auto_hid_1_lgw.jpg
  19. Nothing Roush couldn't do better. :gabe:
  20. ...'cuz they're done. http://jalopnik.com/mustang-tuner-saleen-says-it-owes-millions-of-dollars-1661373045
  21. Kerry, I appreciate your thoughts but I will disagree: from college in PA (4 years), high school in Niskayuna, NY (3+ years), summers in Long Island (all my life), 3 years in FL - - - all while being a total d*ck on the road and never obeying a speed limit EVAR - - - I can tell you I've gotten speeding tickets everywhere. I pull them out, and I've seen it all. From hidden bike cops to Hotel Papa (Highway Patrol airplanes), I've been tagged. If you think OH sucks, try driving I-75 through KY, TN, GA, FL: I only got tagged doing 84 in a 70 one time because the minivan pacing next to me blocked me from getting over, and Roscoe P. Coltrane decided to nab the BMW 3-series 'vert instead of the Windstar doing 85+mph. My FiL got nabbed this past March by a speeding camera in Scottsdale, AZ. I was in the car with him (non-profit board meeting we were both attending at Troon). Plus, I got off with a warning by a cop during the same 3-day trip. FiL got the letter w/ pic of him speeding thru the camera a few days after we got home. So far, the only thing I haven't been nabbed by is a paddy wagon, and a mountie. If you're a speeder, it sucks everywhere.
  22. What is this "speeding" you speak of? I have my self-driving Audi set on auto-cruise: it knows the speed limit of the road I'm on, and automatically drives at that limit unless constrained by traffic in front of it. Also, automatically slows down and brakes for stop signs and traffic lights... TEH FUTURE...IT'S COMMING!!1!1
