Guys, looking for a kit or shop recommendation to do an A/C retrofit or conversion from R12 to R134a on a 1975 Dodge van with the old-school York compressor. I remember seeing YT vids where you evac the system, replace the service valves, O-rings, and drier and then add R134a and oil? Van has everything intact and R12 in the system...the sight glass shows some bubbles and the compressor stopped working indicating some leak in the system. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

That guy is from UA??

Back in '06ish when we lived in FL, I took my wife and another couple 4hours from Naples to Kennedy Space Center. Had a great day there, and waited for a late afternoon shuttle launch that was scrubbed because of one stupid storm that was too close. Grabbed dinner nearby Titusville (I think it was Hooters), and discussed if we should stay overnight in a hotel in Orlando and try again the next day when it was re-scheduled to launch. I was the space geek that wanted to see the launch, but I was thinking of the other 3 that did'nt really care, and said let's just hustle back to Naples. Next day, put the launch on TV....only to find out it was scrubbed again. Man, I'm glad I didn't put the wives through another day at KSC.

Who was the guy with the really clean, red EK Honda Civic hatchback with the engine swap? My son is obsessed.

Cool stuff. Not my cup of tea but I appreciate the work. It sounds like Linkin Park stuff but that's just because I'm old. The line "I can't breathe" is going to get play with the attention around George Floyd.

I give credit to NASA...the live-streaming "show" was well done, with great commentary and informative updates on what was happening. I had it on my personal computer while working at home. Will try to catch the livestream again well before 3:22pm on Saturday.

Livestream started. Exciting to see NASA partnering with SpaceX. Hoping the cloudcover/weather and 50/50 probability of launch improve! FL weather is tricky this time of year.

Troof. CLE is worse in that you can literally have a precip difference of 10" of snow travelling from the Westside to Mentor in less than 30min. No snow in Lakewood, flurries by Edgewater...sleet, ice and snow by MLK. Thanks for giving the Odyssey some credit. Got it aligned yesterday at Wheel Medic and the ride/handling is ridiculous for something with an extra A/C unit in the back. If you're complaining about too much hustle on the highways, i'm raising my hand.

Love the new landing page group shot!

To bring it back on topic: Coming up on 100,000 COVID-19 deaths officially reported in the USA, and with a lot of real-life examples and anecdotal evidence towards re-opening the country, I'm ready for everything to open back up. We still haven't done enough testing, but it seems like people are too on-edge to remain cooped up for another couple months. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-visits-one-his-private-golf-courses-first-time-75-n1213746 However... I'm not going to be the first to run to a crowded beach, packed restaurant, or wait in line at a grocery store for the next couple of months. Glad it's summer...more Instacart deliveries, carryout/drive-thrus, and outdoor cookouts with friends/family! Just no sense in spending time at a Wal-Mart or Costco, like, ever again. I'll be masked if I have to make a last-minute brake fluid run to Autozone for a long time to come, otherwise it's ordered online. Hope to not see a second flare-up happen in the next 2-3 months, otherwise this fall/winter will be fucked.

There's no winning coming out of corona: Trump and his administration have solidified another generation of Americans that rely on the gubmint for money for 2020 and beyond. He's never balanced a business budget and unlike Clinton and the GOP Congress in the 90s, Trump took a great economic recovery since 2008 and paid nothing back. We're worse off now than before corona. I do hope that people will recover, and I DO agree that government stimulus is needed to survive a downturn like what we're experiencing, but the cost is greater than Pro-Trump supporters care to admit. I thought Trump, as a businessman, would drain the swamp and "Make America Great Again" (he stole that line from Reagan btw). He's done neither, helping his family and cronies make money without using any possible success of the US economy to make the country better off financially. COVID exposed his fiscal failings; most people in this thread would rather keep their head in the sand. $25 TRILLION and accelerating for a national deficit...just remember that China owns us all when you're talking about your freedom. Enjoy this beautiful Memorial Day weekend. <3

From the duckbill and exhaust tips through the wheels, stance, and that bodystyle...I love all of it. And I'm not normally a fan of red cars. Well done again, Tim!

Recommendations for affordable trucks and SUVs?

This also. If you can, go west and south for used vehicles. -
Here's the thing... 1) I've been complying with the governor's restriction of group events with 10 or more people. Husted and DeWine are loosening up restrictions (restaurants/bars, weddings, parks/sports, etc) but nothing yet for other groups. 2) I know that people have been going to Lennox on nicer weekends. Plus, the text messages to me and on FB and IG are getting more frequent. At this point, I am NOT saying that we're up with quarantining. I am waiting for this afternoon's 2pm DeWine/Acton Show before I do my weekly CC&C social media posts. However, the movie theater is closed...people are likely showing up anyway... I'd appreciate it if CR peeps would attend, and keep an eye on people getting squirrelly. The last thing we need with the tension out there is for cooped-up car guys feeling the need to do burnouts. Attendance is happening anyway, so I'd rather put an ask out there for friends to try and help keep it a great event.

Recommendations for affordable trucks and SUVs?
zeitgeist57 replied to PRD2BDF's topic in Passing Lane
IMO, unless you’re truly planning on going off-road, don’t feel like you have to get 4WD/AWD. I keep saying it because it amazes me: snow tires on my RWD Silverado and no problems even light off-road for Campouts and winter driving (acceleration, stopping, turning). Even on a boat ramp I’d wager if you’re careful you could get a 2WD truck to launch and pull up your pontoon boat. Get a regular-cab, stick-shift truck. -
Good news, everyone...the treatment was a success! As quickly as he announced he's taking HCQ, he's not going to take HCQ. https://www.axios.com/trump-coronavirus-hydroxychloroquine-day-ce602cbb-b5a5-4d44-9c20-db6b51494962.html

Wheel Medic is great. If the wheels are painted (not polished or machined/clear coat) I surprised myself by changing the wheels I put on my Odyssey from black to silver. Did sanding/filling of light curb rashes as well. Surprisingly easy.

I'll still get a quote from Kevin. Compare DIY to his rate. Also something I noted. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Primered-Rear-Bumper-Replacement-for-2011-2017-Honda-Odyssey-11-17-W-Park/282652082065?fits=Year%3A2012%7CModel%3AOdyssey%7CSubmodel%3ATouring%7CMake%3AHonda&hash=item41cf607f91:g:pZMAAOSwnB1ZuWiS I wouldn't mind having pre-painted to eliminate the risk I run of messing up the paint and/or clear. It's a big butt. Thanks and keep the reviews coming!

After a bit of YouTubing, it seems like MBI Auto is a popular vendor on eBay and Amazon of painted bumpers. Yes, it looks like hit-or-miss on the folded, painted bumpers. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Painted-To-Match-Rear-Bumper-Replacement-for-2011-2017-Honda-Odyssey-Touring/333506825042?var=542604870690&hash=item4da68e4b52:m:mn0_Uq_wxmWxB6TmPgmbzyQ I checked Amazon as well...no folded bumpers, so I'll probably go with the "Premium" bumper option where it's shipped regularly.

Wifey picked up another small accident that involves the left rear bumper corner on our 2012 Odyssey. No damage to the body or tailgate, but a solid "Camry-bump" that cracked the plastic. We've been to Kevin's a few times in the last 18 months ...given this is a plastic bumper and impact support, I'm looking to do this myself. Used bumpers from Car-Part would have to still be prepped/painted, and they are still $300-400+. Has anyone either bought a direct-fit (non-OEM) painted body panel from eBay? I'd be wary of non-OEM doors, fenders as your having to match up a lot of body lines. But for a bumper where it's hanging off the back and likely going to be damaged again, I'm inclined to give it a try. https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-2011-2016-HONDA-ODYSSEY-Rear-Bumper-w-Sensor-Holes-COVER-Painted/264695313620?fits=Year%3A2012%7CModel%3AOdyssey%7CMake%3AHonda&var=564502647789&hash=item3da111f4d4:m:menVHiSCMb6SZraM1eFsWqA Interested in personal experiences. Thank you!

I've gone to AutoZone on Henderson several times over the last 10 weeks (tool rentals/returns, dump fluid, pick up consumables), and the staff in there all wore masks (as do I).

WTB: Microsoft laptop for diagnostic software
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Other Stuff
Thanks, Ryan! Jeremy, appreciate the eBay link as well. Hilton actually says that you don't have to follow Volvo's specs perfectly for a compatible laptop, but it helps for me to be in a range on processor, RAM, etc... -
