  1. For Southwest, make sure you schedule some sort of alarm for EXACTLY 24hrs in advance of your departure time. You'll want to get your boarding passes ASAP to get a good "zone" for boarding.
  2. At first, I was LOLing at the robot-n-splitz showboating... ...but then I realized that he earned the next minute or so of whatever the fuck he wants after burning the guy in 3 seconds.
  3. The reasons vary by engine, but since diesels are compression ignition (no spark plugs), once you get them going they pretty much keep running as long as you give them air and fuel. Most "runaway" situations come from the injector pump failing to meter incoming fuel. Some leaks can cause this too... Quickest way to stop it is block off all air supply. As you can see, it's tough to do with a turbo boosting a ton of air into some monster engine screaming at 5k rpms... Also, you can see that your initial reaction to a runaway diesel is to RUN AWAY BEFORE IT BLOWS SKY HIGH. Scary diesels are scary! :fuckyeah:
  4. I liked the '95 and '96 models best...for one, the interiors are cleaner and more refined. Older 80s/90s C4 Vettes look like a mish-mash of panels to cover the mechanical bits...'95 and '96 have a more unified look. Also, manual transmission '95s and '96s have a Dana 44 in the rear end. Most also have 13" front discs for braking. After owning one, I do miss it, but the structural rigidity is doo-doo, especially if you lower it like I did mine. Plus, parts and performance upgrades are not readily available and expensive when you find them (like the Optispark distributor and exhaust headers). Clean ones are getting harder to find, so they were and are great cars out of the box, and only getting more unique. My heartstrings are tugged a bit when I see good ones out and about.
  5. 30+ years idle...couple of shots of WD-40 as a starting fluid... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M1o2rpO_JY&feature=g-vrec DETROIT DIESEL DON'T CARE

  9. Firing on all cylinders!!! Love it, and I love HOT ROD. Has become a great magazine in the last year...
  10. FYI, I don't play games anymore, but my older PS3 is an awesome media player for Netflix/downloaded movies on my main family TV. Use it every day in that context. GLWS!
  11. +1 for online. Forget TV adverts...Romney needs to buy online spots that show up on YouTube. I can't watch Carly Rae Jepsen without some Obama ad coming up first. Condoleeza in 2012...
  12. Two categories I hear A LOT in my line of business (international banking): "Back-shoring" - bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. "Half-Shoring" - bringing Asian manufacturing not to U.S., but Mexico/Canada/Latin America. Yesterday, I had a business lunch with a prospect company in Akron who is looking to bring manufacturing to Mexico. 8 years ago when they started a manufacturing JV with a company in China, it was 3 times more expensive to manufacture subassemblies in their shop in Mexico. As of last fall (when gas was even higher), their internal analysis showed that - through increased labor/resource cost in China, time to ship, increase in shipping costs/insurance, etc - it's now only 20% more expensive in Mexico over China. Also, what do Chinese businesses want to invest in? Made in America. I have another client that receives sub-assemblies from their suppliers in China...reassembles with enough content in the U.S. to qualify for the 51% export credit...and ships/sells it back to the Chinese market because of the mark-up they can charge for it being USA-built!!! Barney approves. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S9bauq390Mk/T7IKyKUH0dI/AAAAAAAAAPM/9V3C8YtAP04/s1600/Misc-true-story-realistic-l.png
  13. I've been driving the truck after work on little errands this week and I'm really pleased with the front end. Sawmill HD peeps on Sat night said it definitely looks better in person; I agree. I'm going to flip the forward shackles in the rear and I'm sure it'll be at a stance I want. The suspension definitely was a small thing that is making me have a lot of renewed focus. I'll get this thing painted and interior recovered in short order.
  14. What does it take - or what are the options - when buying a new house to have the county auditor not report the purchase price of a house? Example: if you look up Kirk Herbstreit's house, there is no value reported. Please advise and thanks!
  15. LOL! Never heard of in-block cam engines referred to as "teh SUHC"
  16. ...and Bob's your uncle! Love that movie...
  17. What about the Volvo? FYI...won't be needing your suspension modding skillz anymore. Thanks tho, bro...
