I liked the '95 and '96 models best...for one, the interiors are cleaner and more refined. Older 80s/90s C4 Vettes look like a mish-mash of panels to cover the mechanical bits...'95 and '96 have a more unified look.
Also, manual transmission '95s and '96s have a Dana 44 in the rear end. Most also have 13" front discs for braking.
After owning one, I do miss it, but the structural rigidity is doo-doo, especially if you lower it like I did mine. Plus, parts and performance upgrades are not readily available and expensive when you find them (like the Optispark distributor and exhaust headers).
Clean ones are getting harder to find, so they were and are great cars out of the box, and only getting more unique. My heartstrings are tugged a bit when I see good ones out and about.
