Because from my research, no one style of gutter completely eliminates clogs or maintenance. K-style gutters are still much cheaper than capped, or any sort of aftermarket-installed rain-management device. I wanted gutters that I could cap myself, and maintain down the road.

I think it's scary that Trump's war on the media 1) clouds the ability for people to properly digest and understand what "the news" is because of all the noise he brings, and 2) the media is falling right into the trap. (Jon's comments in the video) Many journalists are baited by Trump's hate rhetoric and can't stop themselves from being unbiased. ^^^If that's Trump's fault, or members of the media, I'll leave that up to your opinion. The U.S. government is too powerful of a global democracy to be controlled by just one man. In addition to the different levels of government we enjoy to help provide balance, the purpose of non-government-controlled media is to provide facts and perspectives of the world around us to make us better informed citizens. That above should stand on it's own. It's not scary that people believe the President over media outlets, especially biased sources like FoxNews or CNN. https://www.history.com/news/presidents-relationship-with-press

FYI I went with Sure Home Improvements through the referral of a neighbor. https://www.surehomeimprovements.com/ Joe (owner) did a great job with the roofing, including new plywood sheets where a lot of them had rotted/delaminated, but his gutter subs left something to be desired when I started putting gutter guards over the new gutters. The corners were cut sloppy and the hangers weren't clipped over the backs of the gutters like I thought they should be. I did bitch to Joe and he provided good feedback. My roof is pretty complex so I know enough for what to expect with the gutter lines. They did use a lot of hangers and the gutters are big 6" jobs so I'm sure they will flow just fine. Overall I'm happy with the finished job on one of my largest life investments, but this year reminded me why I HATE farming out work (roof/gutter, exterior paint) when I feel like I can do something myself (like at least the gutter guards https://www.amazon.com/M-Aluminum-Gutter-Guard-feet/dp/B076GS47CR/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1541009179&sr=8-4&keywords=a-m+gutter+guard). As I was installing the gutter guards I was reminded that these simpler jobs, while seemingly easy to undertake looking up at your 2-story-high roof, do end up being a lot of effort to NOT KILL YOURSELF while making seemingly simple aluminum panels fit and seal properly on a gutter. I do have a lot of respect for the guys that do roofing on a daily basis.

https://www.mediaite.com/tv/jon-stewart-trumps-winning-war-with-media-by-using-their-own-narcissism-against-them/ That's a good hot take from Jon Stewart: less of mainstream America cares about facts rather than believing that the President is doing well by them. As long as Trump keeps denouncing medial as being bad people who are getting it wrong, there will always be a concentration of the U.S. population that will agree with him. Scary realization.

1) Camero LOL. 2) $45k trucks LOL. This. Wifey is on her way to getting a used Tesla in the next year or 2. Will look forward to smacking some wheels on that and rocking it when she'll let me. See point #1 above. Camero LOL.

https://nypost.com/2018/10/29/trump-accuses-media-of-stroking-great-anger-in-us/ It's a bad sign if Anthony Scaramucci says you need to scale back the rhetoric. I am not blaming Trump for Saturday's Tree of Life shooting, but I cannot look at that man and feel like he genuinely cares about those Americans that lost and are grieving. When knives are thrown, he goes to guns. When bullets fly, he hits the nuke button. It's getting old... A leader without morals cannot provide moral leadership...

I like the eBay idea, but I can’t help but think that the film quality is going to be doo-doo.

My FiL just tinted his new Model 3, and it looked sick. I realized that, in driving my tinted BMW and CTS-V, my cheap-o Silverado needs some lovin'! With a regular cab that has 3 flat, big, easily accessible windows, has anyone ever gotten good-quality rolls of tint film, a spray bottle, razor, and squeegee...and just gone to town on their vehicle? If I had a curved rear glass with defrost, or a whole bunch of odd angles/curves, I'd definitely let the pros do it. But to save a buck, I feel like this could be the time. Looking for experience/recommendations. Thanks!

NOAA is forecasting a warm winter...you should be good to plant for the next couple of weeks. Planting now will dramatically improve root growth over the winter and lead to a much better growth in the spring. I still need to split/transplant some hostas and aerate/overseed my lawn soon...

Shop Talk: What Power Tools Should A Home Shop Have?
zeitgeist57 replied to wagner's topic in Passing Lane
FWIW I’ve wiped it but never thought of brake clean. It’s interesting how the hose wicks water when the air is humid in my garage...makes it extra sticky. -
That’s pretty cool that they let the techs do a video message for service updates.

Shop Talk: What Power Tools Should A Home Shop Have?
zeitgeist57 replied to wagner's topic in Passing Lane
This. I would go all in on battery impact tools except I'll always need a compressor...just sticking with air tools and the disgusting 10+ year old air hose that's been dragged through eveything and smudges anything it touches Wags, any vid content you watch that uses tools? I watch Bad Obsession Motorsports in the UK with their "Project Binky" AWD turbo classic MINI and they use a belt sander to shape metal...I'd look for a bench grinder that also has that on it? -
This is interesting, as the other night I was watching videos on modifying HF Predator 212cc engines for my sons go-kart...and looking at the vid previews i realize I'll click on a video that's got more views first and less time. So if one vid has 250k views and is 8 minutes long and another is 175k views and 13 minutes long, I'm clicking on the 8-min vid. If I need more content I'll go back to the 13-min video. I think as more content is consumed via mobile devices (as opposed to sitting at a computer) shorter videos with better editing is going to be more successful. The exceptions are "proven" channels I frequent more...if a vid goes 13+ minutes I'll enjoy watching. You just gotta find a rythym and content comfort that appeals to the masses. Having a partner (not even on a regular basis) would help.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-10-23/asia-stocks-look-mixed-as-late-u-s-rally-falters-markets-wrap?srnd=premium Mark my words, if the stock market doesn't gain back most of this loss by November 6th, it's going to negatively affect GOP results in the mid-terms. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing...I'll leave up to you Political Thread regulators to debate.

You need to bring Ventress up to Upper Arlington for a weekend and she'd be too fat off of bunnies to fly anywhere. If it's not squirrels I'm almost hitting everyday driving around, it's rabbits that like to play "chicken" with me in an oncoming car.

The Ranger has been sold for a couple of years globally...now the Ranger Raptor is being offered in those EMEA/APAC countries. It's been a strong seller. With the Ranger now just being released to the U.S. market, you can guarantee the Ranger Raptor will roll out in 1-2 years here in America.

From what I hear through Hot Rod, an old-school iron-block builder can't go wrong with E-Streets: aluminum and a more modern flow design for similar pricing to rebuilding the old iron heads. Especially if you're stroking the short block, I'd feel better with a more modern head combo. Plus, if you can shave 100lbs off the nose that cannot hurt.

You guys are going to rip these poor kids apart limb-by-limb as you try to use them for political gain! "They shouldn't be here illegally!" "They just want to be with their abuelita!"

http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108390&highlight=lottery&page=3 One. Point. Six. BILLION. I had to get a number last night. Anyone want to pool their numbers, like we did way back when, during the Obama administration?

Sold the Lincoln to my 70+ year-old parents. It's in Cleveland. They want to cruise around in it (I'll get it back a few years from now) The BMW has provided this hi-revving, tuner-feel, light and tossable platform that's dirty cheap and relatively easy to repair. The CTS-V is more of a grand-tourer. BMW top-down gives me a Petrolicious driving experience...with road feel, exhaust noise, analog steering and shifting. It's a good car. I don't know what else I can get that's as sold and modern while still being old-school enough to repair at home. Thanks, Kerry. Doesn't seem to be any blow-by and the dipstick is clean. I think the lower assembly should be good if I reseal the block...just want to make sure. Appreciate the offer for fuel pressure. I do have a compression tester but not a leak-down. Obviously my go-to store for this would be Harbor Freight, but the ratings are not good. Wanted to see if someone has a good one to borrow.

After rebuilding the top end of my '95 BMW 318i 3 years ago - http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121778&page=3&highlight=napa+head - I've always had coolant issues. There appears to be a continual leaking of coolant out of the crossover tube (I bought a non-OEM replacement and there are instances that these don't seal properly) and I do need to replace the valve cover gasket as it's leaking oil. After 4k miles of driving around, I'm thinking of pulling the head back off and re-do the gaskets and cooling system. Quite frankly, before I do all that, I'd like to see if the lower block is in need of rebuilding after 143k miles. The car runs great, but I need to get it back to some level of reliability in order to either keep it for another several years or put it up for sale in the spring. If the rings are pretty bad, I'll have to look at a 5.0L swap. Does anyone have a good cylinder leak-down tester I can borrow for an afternoon/evening? Thank you! EDIT: I'm going to go on a rant, with the thought process I have every time I drive my E36: 1) Man, this car still is fun to rip around, and everything I fix just adds a little moar good to this thing. 2) I need to fix the leaks. 3) Geez, this thing's got 143xxx miles on it. Is the engine sound enough to fix? 4) Maybe I should 5.0L swap it? That would be a fun project... 5) Is it worth the investment to 5.0L swap it? Guys say that's going to kill the balance... 6) Maybe I should just sell it....but then I have to fix the leaks. And what am I going to buy to replace it? Fackin' expensive crap out there... WHEN IS IT TIME TO JUST DUMP IT?
